this was the absolute last thing I expected to hear in suicide squad, but it brought my mood up so much immediately. So excited for all the people who just got introduced to The Decemberists
Lyrics: I was not ready for the road I was so discontent to wear that heavy load And so I got down on my knees I made a sucker's prayer A grim bode of baudelaire before And when nobody did respond I took my glasses off and went to find a pond Stuffing rocks into the pockets of my pants And when I waded in Those currents carried them away I wanna love somebody but I don't know how I've been so long lonely and it's getting me down I wanna throw my body in the river and drown I wanna love somebody but I don't know how So if you're lost along the way And if you're thinking that will always be the case Won't you listen to my plea? You'll make a sucker's prayer Just go and leave it that-a-way I wanna love somebody but I don't know how I've been so long lonely and it's getting me down I wanna throw my body in the river and drown I wanna love somebody but I don't know how I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
Well, I have been a huge fan of the Decemberists for years. I can sure see a big difference in the way the the band has evolved. This album sure is a lot different sounding then past albums like “castaways and cutouts”. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad album, It just means the Decemberists are changing and evolving. And I still enjoy all their music. In fact I can easily say they are my favorite band.
One of the smartest songs I've heard in a while. It tells a cautionary tale and warns people to not just put stock in just praying, and feelin sorry for yourself isn't gonna get you where you need to be. It takes effort. It's meant to be difficult at first, but you'll figure it out.
This was a great song to introduce Bloodsport because the section at 1:12 reflects where his character is at the beginning, and 2:16 shows the arc he goes on throughout the film. James Gunn, you are an absolute master of jukebox storytelling!
I love you guys. I was born in December and I felt special. But your songs were legit and I will continue to support my fan status and now you guys will be part of my life. Love the song . I got to look into your songs more.
Wait a second…you mean to tell me that, after all these years, they haven't gone down in quality or sound?? I'm a new fan, and I'm very pleased with everything I've heard from them.
I found this song about 2 years ago from a local radio station when our radio wasn’t getting any other stations, I’m Mexican American so I don’t really hear this type of music but this song was so amazing and when I heard it play in Suicide Squad I was so happy it got the recognition it deserved!
I’ve loved The Decemberists since before they were in Hunger Games. It’s been over 10 years. And I was SO EXCITED to hear them in the movie. I was so happy. I love this song too. It’s amazing 🖤
I didnt read all coments so if some one already pointed this out good. This song is not depressing or a sing along suicide song. Listen to the whole thing ... it is acctually one of the few that shows a way out of the loneliness that we all seem to revel in.
Yes yes. I thought it was something from the 70s. Typed in ‘Suicide Squad songs’ and there it was. Beautiful feel. Love it. Will now investigate Decemberists further.
I like the ending ..it's not bubble gum cheesey....it ends like....it's the end. At the dead silence of the bottom of the river with the pants pockets filled with rocks❤
"I wanna throw my body in the river and drown..." MOOD, right now. Too often the mood, it is getting old, little one... And nobody REALLY gives a good goddamn, despite what they say. But moods pass, of course. Don't they?
@G0DofRock I don't believe that. People are just numb and tired and overwhelmed, and THEY all feel like no one else cares, but we DO. I DO. Despite wanting to end myself several times a month, I CARE about everyone else, and if I could help aby one of you I would- it's just a demoralizing American dystopia out there, and people are tired and lonely and FED UP. But some of us still care, even if it costs us everything to do so. Please know ~I~ CARE. About you, about literally everyone alive. Because I want someone to care, even if I can't accept the sympathy. We have to help each other rise above, or all of this suffering means nothing...
@michaelbailey4442 I am still here, haha. Still fighting. That's about all I can say, though... It is what it is. I understand it better now. And that's not nothing. Thank you, for CARING enough to comment... You are a nice person!
Thank you James Gunn for introducing me to this wonderful track

The songs used in The Suicide Squad were picked amazingly good and fit each scene perfectly. Also the movie is awesome on its own ❤️

Same. Glad they keep trending upwards
Same here. It makes me happy to see them featured in something so widespread
The entire soundtrack was so good? Very pleasantly surprised! Heard this and the Fratellis and nearly lost my mind
Yet again, James Gunn makes another killer soundtrack! ⭐️
"I wanna love somebody, but I don't know how." This is the story of my life. Thanks, Colin!
Start by loving yourself first. That said.......it can really hard for some of us. I know. Personally, I've given up.

Lyrics:
I was not ready for the road
I was so discontent to wear that heavy load
And so I got down on my knees
I made a sucker's prayer
A grim bode of baudelaire before
And when nobody did respond
I took my glasses off and went to find a pond
Stuffing rocks into the pockets of my pants
And when I waded in
Those currents carried them away
I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
I've been so long lonely and it's getting me down
I wanna throw my body in the river and drown
I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
So if you're lost along the way
And if you're thinking that will always be the case
Won't you listen to my plea?
You'll make a sucker's prayer
Just go and leave it that-a-way
I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
I've been so long lonely and it's getting me down
I wanna throw my body in the river and drown
I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
I wanna love somebody but I don't know how

I was just listening to random music while working in my garage and had to come over and see who was singing this song. It is great!
A song of suffering and loneliness! I can relate! This song is a gut wrencher!

Ironically, this song sounds very Let it Be era Beatles...which was another album from another band evolving their sound in a completely different way
