I have learned soo much from you❤❤❤ please please make a video on lotion made with btms 50, cetyl alcohol and liquid esters basically a body lotion for summers that is lightweight, non greasy but still moisturizing and with a good skin feel. I beg you😭😭😭

Hi Tara, I am new to this, but am absolutely loving your detailed tutorials that are very beginner friendly! Can you please make a tutorial on how to do a GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) serum? These are so expensive to buy and would love to know how to do a 3% formula. I think you can add cosmetic grade GHK-Cu to The Ordinary products but would love to know how just to make one on its own. Thank you once again for your time in doing these.
Heat and hold degrades the ingredients. We just need to heat to the highest melting point in the formula. I heat the water phase a little sooner as it always takes longer bc the water phase is larger in o/w then the oil phase.

"Heat and Hold" is for the purpose of killing the vast majority of common microbial contaminants. the cells of many microbial contaminants are protected by a hard shell surrounding the cell walls, this is to protect the contents of the microbial contaminant, bringing the temp up to 70 degrees is not enough to destroy the protective shell but holding at that temp for 20 mins will break it down allowing the contents of the cells to be destroyed. Heating and holding is an important step when creating a cosmetic emulsion for the purposes of decontamination and is considered 'good practise'.
yes i’ve heard this, but i’ve also read that it’s a myth and there are no contaminants if you are actually sanitizing your equipment.
there is also such a thing as “cold process emulsions” where you don’t heat. so it’s definitely a myth when it comes to the “killing contaminants” thing
i recommend doing your own research to see what you find on the topic as this is how i came to my conclusion on the matter.

you can use those in your lotion. that’s why i created this series to show how you can customize the formulas.
i do have recipes using some of these. just search for them on youtube. you can type in taralee shea butter and i’m sure some will pop up

Please mention the products shelf life.1 year atleast should be plz do mention expires date of every products.thank u.
i do mention expiration dates for any product because mine will not be the same as yours even if you follow the same recipe. it depends on so many factors and you would need it lab tested to truly determine that.

How do you know how much preservative to use ?
I heat the oil and water bottle on the stove directly without a water bath. Will this affect the composition?
nope, i just don’t know if it will ruin your beakers. but if it’s been okay then it should be fine.

How ate you getting those percentages though? That what has me stuck. Is that 7% of the entire container of glycerin? Or 7% of the 8oz bottle. I'm lost
Majority of your ingredients will have usage rates in percent... She is using 7% glycerine as it doesn't have a usage rate.. So from her entire jar of glycerine, she's using 7% which is 70 grams. Grams are easier to measure on the scale.. I use wholesale supply batch calculator to convert my percentages into grams... Hope this helps
Note: using a higher percentage of glycerine will cause product to become sticky.. If I use glycerine, I usually use 2%-3% glycerine

so i personally don’t recommend using other peoples formulas to sell, but you do you. i would recommend coming up with your own unique recipes, but of course it’s up to you.
i can’t stop anyone from using my formulas since I share them online.
also test your products before selling. my formulas have not been stability or preservative tested
