2008 BMW 328i
There fuel was leaking to the bottom of the gas tank. Removed the back seat and removed the metal cover to the fuel pump.
Noticed the housing was wet with gas. Started the car and it was spraying fuel from a crack on top of the plastic housing.
Cleaned it with brake cleaner. I used sandpaper to scuff the plastic so the JB weld can adhere where the crack is.
Used Playdoh on the side of the crack so the epoxy will not run down the housing.
Mixed and poured the epoxy and waited the next morning to let it dry.
Turned on the car and the leak had stopped.
Doing this is only temporary till I get the new fuel pump housing and assembly.

7:40 - Whenever you open the car door (driver's door usually) a relay sends a brief charge to the fuel pump to 'prime' the system. It does this so that when you turn the ignition there's already pressure in the fuel line and the engine does not hesitate to start. Some cars do this, some don't.

I use Permatex plastic weld...It will not come loose once it bonds to plastic.

that repair is good for years! my car burned down (from the inside) in the middle of winter. i fixed it by rewiring the whole dash and loom that goes to the rear. i drove it a year like that.
Maybe make small V grove on the hair line crack so, glue will attach better ? Like welding a metal piece.
Iv seen. Other videos showing...BMW...catching fire 🔥..going down highways...that could be a common problem 🤔 😏

I have this same lid crack issue recently, and was wondering the same about a recall. Spoke to bmw corporate usa and they said there is not, that they never heard of this issue (which imo is bullshit). So I had the rep send my concern higher up the chain and am supposed to be hearing back from them.

I would of disconnected the fuel pump relay/ fuse then started the car to depressurize the fuel system. But nice and easy fix regardless

boss i use 3 ton mixing glue black and white mix like gray.its a strong enough tu glue its petrol pump.using my trimmer gas tank 4 year its still strong. jb weld it's recommend to you.

I have a 1999 Toyota Siana that’s blowing EFi fuse it would run but as soon as you accelerate it a sputter and cut off and blow the fuse again but when I take the EFI relay the fuse don’t blow but the car won’t run it cranks but not run put a new fuel pump and still doing the same thing can you help I have any ideas

Oddly enough, that's not the fuel pump. It's the Venturi for the 2nd tank. Dang BMW.

I have always wanted to know this:
Why do BMWs and MB have so many repair issues?
They are expensive cars and should last longer than Honda and Toyota.
They're usually just bought by rich people, so the quality is lacking so they get a consistent flow of income. Most people buying Hondas and Toyota have generally barely been able to afford them, so little money to be gained there. Instead they'd build a reputation as just being garbage and fall off the market.
In America you see a lot of BMWs on the road. It much more common than Hondas and Toyotas so the higher the demand on the market because of the stigma it’s a “German car” or it’s for rich well it’s not happening anymore. BMWs is just like Fords in Germany or just like Saturns. Cars for the commoners there and in Europe
@@mushy18100 I would doubt that Honda is outsold by BMW in the U.S. Honda is #1 in Canada and it is probably similar in the U.S. BMWs don't last long as it is mind-boggling that they cost so much but are so unreliable.
