There is a story about an old man who allegedly had travelled a lot during his life. One TV reporter has decided to make a shot about him.
So the TV crew came to the old man's house. Reporter has asked: "Sir, can you tell us about your life?"
Old man started: "Of course. I was born in Austro-Hungarian Empire. I studied in Czechoslovakia, then I worked in Soviet Union and now I live in Ukraine."
TV reporter: "Wow, that's incredible! How did you managed to travel so much?"

    • @karfrancouzsky9725

@@purplestringsmariamichelac3391 If you are interested in history, you can refer to Wikipedia entry 'Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia'. Note that I am not able to asses, how accurately it was described there - I assume that it is more or less correct. It shall be taken into consideration, that Europe was not peacefull place in previous centuries, with the darkest period during WW2, that started when Germany and russians attacked Poland within 17 days on September 1939.
However Poles do know, that people are not responsible for their grand parents and their grand grand parrents' actions, unless they are still identifying with it (which Ukrainians and Germans are not). Meanwhile Ukrainians are recognizing Stephan Bandera as one of their national hero, that was fighting for independence 90 years ago. Usually they are completely not aware of the fact, that he was also fighting against Poles - it is just not included in their school history courses. On the other hand, Volhynia Massacres became very popular narrativ in Poland since russian aggresion on Ukraine in 2014. I doubt that such an intensiffication was just coincidence. It was rather part of russian internet info-war against Ukraine.
Anyway, full scale russian aggression on another country made those narrative irrelevant. We are standing strong with our brothers and sisters Ukrainians because we know, who is STILL the main threat for the peace in Europe and on the word.

1 year ago I started helping few refugees in Warsaw, also was a guide for them in one museum talking about minerals and rocks of Ukraine. Most of them were just kids, teenagers and their mothers. I also saw one speech by Robert Makłowicz, talking about important, in history and culture way, coffeehouses in west Ukraine, and among viewers was one Ukrainian girl who cried and admitted that for first time since weeks she is happy. She got big applause from Poles 🇺🇦

2:13 - In 1978, I saw the cruise-ship : Odessa, as a Soviet Union flag ship, in the Delaware River, near Philadelphia and Wilmington.
At that time it was in the business of a few days 'cruise to nowhere'. That is a ride out to international waters of Atlantic Ocean to operate the ship casino.

Ukraine and Poland becoming best friends seemed so unlikely, but as a Polish person I am so happy that it went that way and I hope it'll last!
There has been so much pointless violence and conflict between us, from the times of the Commonwealth, through the 19th century and all the horrible things we did to each other in early 20th century, but all that went right out the window and I'm so proud of my fellow countrymen for how we all came together and helped the Ukrainian refugees, especially in those early weeks.
My dad and I were planning to go to Ukraine in 2022, but that got cut short by the invasion. We might go this year to Lviv and the Carpathians, but definitely will be going when the war ends.
Слава Україні! Hope this pointless war ends soon and that all of Ukraine will be free and safe! Героям слава!

@@umkaukr i, myself, and probably many Poles had this feeling during that febuary - deja vu. But next to us. Attack by a stronger force, from 3 sides. Many of us still have grandmas and grandpas that remember the war. And even if there was almost noone to help us - we cant let that happen again. If we can, we must help to those that need help, because its the right thing to do.

I'm struck by the country's rich history and the many complex challenges it has faced. Despite facing numerous obstacles throughout its past, Ukraine has emerged as a resilient and proud nation with a deep and fascinating culture. The video does an excellent job of highlighting Ukraine's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, as well as showcasing the stunning landscapes and warm hospitality of its people. I appreciate the way the creators of this video bring attention to the struggles and triumphs of Ukraine.

In the friendship-section, it’d be interesting to also talk about the historically antagonistic relationship between Ukraine (or historical Ruthenians) with Poland. As recently as WW1, Ukrainian and Polish Nationalists were actually warring against each other for control over the Westernmost region of Ukraine today, surrounding Lwow.

I am half Azerbaijani half Ukrainian myself and I would like to pay gratitude for your Ukrainian colleagues who shared such significant historical and informational moments about the Ukrainian identity . But guys, you forgot to mention Azerbaijan as a supporter of Ukraine in external relationship part. We provide free fuel for the First Aid Services vehicles since the beginning of the war, we sent lots of humanitarian aid to support civilians, and we share the same historical and cultural suffering from Russia. I love Ukraine and hope that my second home will be safe and welcoming very soon as it used to be before the war.

I can't believe you didn't mention Uman in the famous places section! It's actually a _Jɛɯish_ pilgramige site, being basically the only major Jɛɯish holy site outside of Isɾael that we have access to (due to other possible sites being in Iraq and Syria, and other countries ħostɨle to Jʊɗaism, like Jordan). It contains the Tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, whose form Chassidism is extremely visible in Isɾael, with many of their songs entering the ʀeligious Jɛɯish musical tradition more broadly, one major one (ɴɨggun Oz V'Hadar) being composed in Ukraine in the early 1800s. Every year, on Rosh Hashanah, Uman is filled with Isɾaeli and Jɛɯish-American pilgrims who spend the festival there.

@@thetruechaby It takes a line to acknowledge: "There's also Uman, which weirdly houses a major Jɛɯish pilgramige site, despite being outside of Isɾael and surrounding areas, and on Rosh Hashanah, Uman is filled with Isɾaeli and Jɛɯish-American pilgrims who spend the festival there, and thus looks like it is an Isɾaeli village, not a Ukranian one, during the festival.". I'm sure there's a better way to condense the information, that suggestion would be a "rough draft".

@@ServirLaPaix That's just a how many languages of both the former USSR (Lithuanian, Latvian, Georgian) the Warsaw pact (Polish, Sebian, Croatian, Bulgarian) pronounce "Nation". Even the Dutch version is pronounced in some dialects the same way as "ɴ@zɨ" , despite never being under Soviet influence, Italian and Romanian version sound like "ɴ@zɨ" with the suffix -one. The word ɴ@zɨ comes from older German pronunciation of "Nation". Even Russian uses the same word as Ukrainian; I would bet even Putin would refer to any Nation that way; if he were to refer to "The Russian Nation" would be be saying Russia is ɴ@zɨ? It just means "Glory to the Nation [Ukraine]".
