I just wanted to say how much I really enjoyed your adorable Netflix program. Its like “Elvira” meets “Mister Rogers” meets “Martha Stewart”. Cute for kids and relaxing for grownups. I binged it when I was sick one day. I’m upset that we only got one season. Loved it.
Fun fact: My Great- Great Grandfather was an artisan craftsman at The Breakers. I lived in Canada ( my family is from Pennsylvania) and had no knowledge of this fact until AFTER I returned home from a trip to Boston. While in Boston, I saw a pamphlet on the Breakers and basicly forced our family to go out of our way to see it. One of the most pleasant surprises of my life was to find out that my Grandfather's Grandfather had a literal hand in creating that stunning masterpiece!
My favorite “special touch” happened at a luxurious resort. They did several things during the turn down service, but my favorite part was that they placed a small booklet, measuring approximately 5“ x 4“, that contained probably 50 pages of various bedtime stories for adults organized by different genres and themes. Each story was designed to be read to completion before going to sleep because they were short, about 6 pages long each. I thought that was an impressively creative and thoughtful gesture! And during my stay, I was able to read every story in the booklet. They were all wonderful!
@@sharyllee7094 it was a book the resort had put together and had professionally published. So it was not something a person could purchase from Amazon, for example.
@@sharyllee7094 it was not a fancy booklet that you could purchase anywhere, and I am not sure if it was professionally published. My impression was that the booklet was something put together by the resort.
My mom and I use to go once every other year on a mother daughter trip together. She’s too frail for that now, she’s 88 and not in great health. I treasure those memories.
Thank you for letting us join your adventure. The mansions are stunning! I don't understand how people think it's alright to want to tear down these amazing buildings. Thankfully the one you visited, was saved. It's good to see you again.
Christine’s videos are so (understandably) rare that I almost don’t want to watch them upon release. I’ll sit on this one as though it were a golden egg and wait for the perfect dreich day to snuggle.
Netflix really made a mistake canceling your TV series.. it was so good!! I love your content it's so well produced and detailed. Absolute perfection! ❤👌
I recommend you stay at the Nathaniel Lord Mansion in Kennebunkport, Maine sometime. I worked there as a housekeeper. It’s a historic mansion built in 1812 by a ship builder. There is a charming gift shop in the basement and a widow’s watch that is allegedly haunted. It’s absolutely stunning at Christmastime.
Your mom’s wedding photos were stunning!! She looked like a movie star!! I can see you in her face. Ive never been to that area, but I am dying to go! You have inspired me ❤ We always stayed in Motel 6’s or 8’s when I was a kid. So I totally get how crazy it is to stay in a fancy hotel! It’s a treat, and I appreciate it more so because of my childhood!
I met and sat next to your Mom on a flight back home to California and so enjoyed talking with her. She is such a sweetheart and so proud of you. As she was talking about you, you sounded so familiar. I looked at my TH-cam subscriptions And sure enough it was you! We laughed and enjoyed that so much. You both are delightful - keep up the great content!♥️
Hello Christine, I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but there's the Carey Mansion / SeaView Terrace which is also beautiful. The Dark Shadows series was filmed inside the mansion. It is also a Gilded Age mansion.
What a beautiful video ! Don’t sell yourself short Christine , your beautiful home is so much more than a Cracker Jack box ! ❤ the love and work you put into your home shows !
Watching your show on Netflix has become a fall tradition in our house. Love you Christine, thank you for bringing your incredible wonder to all of us! 💕
Same with us too! My children and I love watching it every year and often throughout . We also purchased her cook book. Wonder delicious and naughty fun ideas that are so appealing for the family.
Thank you for sharing your trip. I love your commentary; it makes me want to travel and see these places for myself. The horse noises for the car travel were the chef's kiss. Please make more of these travel videos. I would gladly watch them.
The thought of someplace like the Elms being demolished by a developer makes my chest contract with actual physical pain. You couldn’t pay me enough to destroy something so beautiful, the mind boggles how people can so casually do things like this 😵💫
I took my mom to Newport several years ago, not too long before we found out she had a very aggressive form of dementia. She passed four months ago. I'm so glad we had that time together, we had a blast!
I am so very sorry that you have suffered this loss. I lost my mother (Christine's Grandmother) 34 years ago and it's still the greatest loss I have ever endured. Take care of yourself and allow time to help you rebalance your life.
Dear Christine, It still saddens me deeply that your marvelous Netflix show only received one season, but I’ve adored all of the content you’ve shared with us subsequently. I hope you will one day return to television, once more on your own creative terms, and have the opportunity to build an audience under a long-term commitment from a network. We desperately need more people with unique forms of imagination and non-linear intelligence to inspire us. We are worth more than we demand from our entertainment, and whenever I watch any of your videos, I feel instantly recharged and eager to create. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so uniquely yourself and sharing your passion with us.
I love the horse & carriage soundtrack while you were driving around. That was great. This reminded me of childhood trips to cape cod and Provincetown. Those were horseshoe crabs you saw.
I absolutely loved seeing how you enjoyed visiting my neck of the woods❤❤❤Your Mom is just gorgeous!! I totally loved seeing every one of your looks, thanks for sharing!!!! PS Rhode Island has several other smaller mansions and historic homes (some said to be haunted) to visit. 😉
20 years ago, or so, my mother and I did a tour of Newport and had an amazing time. Mrs. Astor's Beachwood was a house museum that had actors playing members of the Astor family and staff who would show you around the house. You had to play the game with them that you were party guests coming the next evening but wanted to see the house after it's renovations after a fire. It was a great time, I loved it. Sad that now it's a private residence and no longer a museum.
Somewhere in Time is one of our favorite movies. We were lucky enough to visit during her book tour. We stayed at the Grand Hotel and took a carriage tour of the island ending in dinner at The Woods restaurant. You are right, it was fantastic and I for one would love to go back.
This video makes me think you would really, REALLY enjoy and appreciate the song ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ by Taylor Swift. It’s from her folklore album and it’s the story of Rebecca Harkness who was a woman who owned her Rhode Island home before Taylor bought it. She explains the story, her life, her escapades, it’s such a fantastic piece of history. She was so inspired by reading about Rebecca she had to write a song.
You favor your mom so much so you will know, without a doubt, you will be beautiful when you're older. She is lovely. This trip looks like it was such fun.
I love Newport! Went to college in Providence (also lovely) and have such fond memories of my parents coming to visit and taking my roomate and I to tour the mansions. Theyre all so beautiful and unique!
Love anything you create, you make it so special. I also love anything from days gone by. I grew up on Cape Ann so there is lots of old homes and mansions, even castles I have always loved to roam around in. My primary school was in one of them, so for 8 years it was like home. My mom, who would be 105 years old was a fashionesta in her day and an expert seamstress. It's fun to see you 'wear her clothes' and accessories, and you look very similar in many ways. Anyway so enjoyed this episode !
I'm so glad you brought us along on your trip, with your beautiful Mom. The Inns you stayed at, as well as the places you visited were wonderful. Yes, cherish the times you spend with your Mom. My Mom and I were attached at the hip. I miss her and glad I had that time with her. Please, take us along again.
I love your channel Christine this trip you took with your mother was great I’m a very big fan of château, castle’s, they have this character an attraction that today’s homes don’t I love the antique look in clothing homes carriages , books and so on. I love your channel excellent
A few days ago I was reading about this mansion called Rose Cliff. The grand staircase was made to look like a heart shape. As you enter the hall you can see it does resemble a heart ❤
I loved this content. You should do more. Here in France, the impression is that it's only in Europe that you can see beautiful domains, but I guess not ! Thank you so much. I would love to do the same itinerary with my mom !
Yes please! Always take us along when you travel with your lovely mother and share the stunning homes. Loved this trip. Those cute little creatures are horseshoe crabs. They shed their shells, I have a collection of their "skeletons!"
I’ve been feeling so depleted but watching this video replenished my energy stores! I grew up in RI and live in western Ma so it’s wonderful to see this video of places I know ( though I’ve never stayed in Newport overnight, wow!) My in-laws live at the Cape and we are going to Orleans next week (I definitely prefer visiting the Cape “off season”😋🚗🚙🏎️🚕🚓🚘🚖🚔🚖🚘) I am definitely checking out that vintage clothing shop! (It may be relatively new as I don’t remember having seen it before) ❤
Gosh, I loved this so much! This is exactly the kind of thing I love to do! I stayed at a bed-and-breakfast that was also named Chandler’s House, but it was in Pennsylvania. It was absolutely lovely, and I did not get cornered with a weird discussion there 😅
I love this!! One of my all-time favorite hobbies is touring castles and places and mansions. Especially if you can manage to go in an off-time and be almost alone on the tour!! My husband and I recently toured the Crane Estate outside of Boston and that one was gorgeous as well. I'd love to see more of your mansion tours!
WOW! Those 'hotels' are absolutely incredible, makes me want to return to the States again! It must be so wonderful having the chance to travel with your mother. Mine, sadly passed away when I was a kid and I have so few memories of holidays together x
I was so delighted when I woke up today to see that I get to watch a new video from you! As a retiring school teacher, I can’t afford to subscribe to your paid content, but I just love every single video and show you create. You are an amazing one of a kind creative, and I adore you!
You and your Mom are both lovely and i see where you got your good looks 💕💕It is Wonderful that you document these trips with your Mom. Beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing. I was born in Amesbury Massachusetts and absolutely adore the old buildings there. This brought back a lot of memories for me from New England. Much Love and many Blessings ! 💖💖🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My Mom and I drove from the West coast to the East coast this summer. As the youngest of six I grew up not knowing a lot of family history, so this trip taught me so much. I cherish every moment.
I just recently went to Newport this summer and loved it! If you ever go back, you should check out the Chateau-Sur-Mer mansion. It’s right up your alley when it comes to styling.
AW!! I've always wanted to travel by stagecoach!! So happy to see these beautiful homes and Inns preserved! We as Americans have lost so much of our history unlike other countries! My daughter and granddaughter and I toured the Biltmore house and gardens in N, Carolina this spring!
I love watching your videos! I used to do a similar trip to visit my mom in RI yearly from my home in Weedsport NY. I havnt seen much of your landscape but if you ever decide you want a Victorian/cottagestyle/goth garden I’d love to work with you on a design and install! I own an ecological landscape business down in VA but still travel up to NY to visit family. I know you’re always so busy working in your interior, I can see you with rose gardens and native perennials
I lost my mom a couple years ago and this reminded me of fun trips I went on with her and the ones we never got to do so thank you for sharing such wonderful memories with your wonderful mom! 🤗💙
Post every single thing you're willing to share... it's all so inspiring! Hopefully, someday I'll be able to stay at one of these historic places too ❤
Thank you for this charming film. My Partner and I visited Newport for the first time about a year ago for the Concours de Elegance, and so our focus was on the cars and gatherings. This year, we returned for the Mansions. What a treat!
✨I love spending time with my Mother so so much and that bond between a daughter and her Mother is just so special and it just grows stronger and stronger as you both grow older…it really warms my heart watching this beautiful trip your sharing✨
Honestly, I don't know why it's taken me so long to subscribe to your patreon because you are my absolute favorite. And if I couldn't get anymore enamored, you go and share this video which, from watching you thru the years on TH-cam is so different from what you've uploaded in the past but I'm absolutely transfixed. Such a fan is what I'm trying to say. Thank you for sharing
I love your videos so much! Please do a tour of your house and if you remember where you bought the stuff, please tell us! I absolutely love your home and I will be moving into a 4 bedroom apartment style dorm soon, it has 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, a dining room, and a large living room also, it's just like an actual apartment. I want to decorate it like the style of your house, but with darker colours. I love black and dark antique green. I have 4 months to prepare before college starts so I want to make sure I have everything I need to have a stylish home. I'm a guy and I highly doubt my roommates will want to decorate, so they shouldn't mind at all.
I'm so happy you got to go on the trip with your Mom. You'll look back and treasure the memories. What a beautiful part of the country! We'll have to tuck it in the places we want to see list! Love from Memphis, TN!
I loved this video! I loved the Mom + Daughter travel. I have travelled all throughout Europe with my Mom and they are some of my most treasured moments. I would love if you made more of these! Heading to Patron to get some more of your creations! I've followed you since your Netflix special and have been dying to find videos or content and glad to know you have a Patron, you are SO talented.
Just want to say how much I enjoy all your videos, they are a special treat. A while back I took a trip with my daughter to see the Winchester Mansion. As a bonus I knew your rendition of The mansion you created out of (I believe gingerbread) was hopefully still there. I was disappointed to hear that the display was taken down a few days before we got there. We still had a wonderful time and when we came home we saw your work of art again. You really did capture the mansion with memorable details . So special Thank you!
So much Enjoyed this amazing video So Nice You can Experience this with your Sweet Mom! I have Dreamed of places like these I can never experience them in my life Appreciate You Sharing this with All and especially ME!!!
That colorful window is so dang pretty 😮 And not gonna lie at first I thought you and your mom look nothing alike, then you showed old photos I was like “Ope there she is” XD
Rhode Islander here! Thanks for Showcasing our lovely little state. I’m actually planning a trip to The mansions during the holidays. I’ve been many times in my life, but I’ve never seen the mansions decorated for the holidays.
My husband and I went on a very similar vacation. It was fantastic. The Breakers was amazing, but Marble House blew me away. We had afternoon tea at its Chinese Tea House, and the views are simply gorgeous. Years ago I went to Ashville, NC to tour the Biltmore Estate, which is especially grandiose. Hearing about the family's lifestyle of moving every 6 weeks or so between all their houses is something I wouldn't enjoy, and from what I learned about their children, they didn't like it either. They had an extremely strict schedule, too many social events for my taste, and they didn't really seem to bond as a family. This was during the Gilded Age, so I understand all the pomp, but it would've been very isolating to me. I love and admire the architecture, whimsy, and sheer size of these preserved homes, but I was also happy I didn't have to grow up that way. Thanks for sharing, Christine!
My mom and I use to do trips like that, and go see historic houses in whatever city we were in. I miss her so much. I would have loved to have shown her the Newport mansions.
I’m betting you would love all the homes on Mackinac Island in upper Michigan. No motor vehicles allowed, but plenty of horse drawn vehicles. Houses are all Victorian or older. Beautiful gardens everywhere. One of its main attractions is the huge Grand Hotel that sits high on a hill, and was where the fantasy love story “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, was filmed. Of course my personal favorite of the island is all the fudge shops 😋
This was wonderful Christine. My late grandmother loved all things elegant and over the top. Your mom is so lovely and I'm glad you all are going on these adventures together. 🌞
I live in Woodstock, CT. There is a seven story castle in our town you might appreciate. It's called Chris Mark Castle. You can find it on the internet. I did some work in it, built an indoor water garden on the ground floor, made some valances for curtains, etc. The owner likes spooky stuff and has some incredible antiques. I bet he would like to meet you. My grandkids loved your Curious Creations show. We are fans.🦂
The travel videos with your Mom are so enjoyable. Your videos are all enjoyable, but you only ask about this type. Thanks for sharing such a special time with the viewers.
Thank you so much to both of you! Thank you to your mom for being willing to share this trip with us! I loved it all, but the horse and carriage sounds added so much for me. I’m sometimes so easily amused.
The Elms is my favorite as well. I heard it was looked down upon by others in its day because it was not built on oceanfront property. Can you even imagine!
I would love to do this as a girls trip. What an awesome experience!!! Thank you for taking us with you 💕 You’re mom is beautiful‼ You got great genes from her.
Christine, I wanted to tell you that I love your videos and that they helped me get through severe depression. I would like to know if you will provide the option of audio tracks for your videos? I'm Brazilian and I still don't speak English. I also believe that the tool will make your videos much more popular in Brazil.

Thank you so much for sharing your trip with your mom with us! I too love everything vintage and adored the beautiful places you visited!!
Loved your show please do another one 🙌🙌🙌 this is great to have discovered your channel . Absolutely beautiful 🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏
I've just been to Versailles, and this really reminds me of it. So if you're in the US and have dreams about Versailles: Go here
I LOVED seeing you travel with your mom and the unique inns you stay at. Please keep these videos coming.
What a treat! Love these surprise videos.
Post every single thing you're willing to share... it's all so inspiring! Hopefully, someday I'll be able to stay at one of these historic places too ❤
Love that staircase as well wow & your horse carriage touch. Thanks for sharing the beautiful mansions.😊
I bet your cup of inspiration overfloweth after this trip. Thx so much for sharing the experience!
So much Enjoyed this amazing video
So Nice You can Experience this with your Sweet Mom!
I have Dreamed of places like these
I can never experience them in my life
Appreciate You Sharing this with All and especially ME!!!
Mom's always love us brothers more for some reason... but it was a very nice trip, thank you for sharing
❤OH my gosh thanks for sharing this with us, brings back memories of vacationing with my mom at the cape and hitting up all the antique stores.
Great video! Thank you for taking us along. Your mother is lovely and videos like this give us ideas of places to go visit as well.
That colorful window is so dang pretty 😮
And not gonna lie at first I thought you and your mom look nothing alike, then you showed old photos I was like “Ope there she is” XD
Rhode Islander here! Thanks for
Showcasing our lovely little state.
I’m actually planning a trip to
The mansions during the holidays.
These mother-daughter travelogues are some of my very favorite episodes of yours 🥰I would love to see more!
Beautiful thank you for sharing, wish I would of done something like this with my mom before she past away.
Christine you should visit The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. It is George Vanderbilt’s home. Breath taking home you would love.
Always appreciate bonus episodes and yes cherish your time with your mom
LOVE this kind of episode! Your mom is adorable! And these houses were breathtaking!!
Oh wow! This was music to my ears and a feast for the eyes, Christine! Thank you so much... I love everything you do. XXX
Absolutely, mamas are the best friends for life if we're blessed! Enjoyed this video and hope you share more!
Thank you for taking us with you 💕 You’re mom is beautiful‼ You got great genes from her.
the neat water creatures are called Horseshoe Crabs
Would love to see those in person, & now I know best place to visit someday!
Christine, I wanted to tell you that I love your videos and that they helped me get through severe depression. I would like to know if you will provide the option of audio tracks for your videos? I'm Brazilian and I still don't speak English. I also believe that the tool will make your videos much more popular in Brazil.
É uma ótima ideia! Pode ser preciso uma pesquisa para descobrir como fazer. Obrigado pela sugestão. I used a translation tool. Hopefully it is correct.
