Crumple zones are present in all cars, including the ‘solid build quality’ cars like nexon and xuv300. The real issue is that the gncap crash tests suggest that maruti cars are ‘structurally unstable’ and occupant safety is poor. Mr. Raman doesn’t need to patronise us with the definition of crumple zones.

      1. G NCAP is crash testing only on lowest variant of a model.
      2. Maruti's lowest variant of most models have 1 airbag n seatbelts without pretensioner... which is getting 2 stars.
Otherwise definitely get 4 stars,...like Brezza, Baleno, Ciaz.
      3. Safety comes with price,.. Tata cars lowest n Top variants have same safety standards. so costlier than Maruti Suzuki.

Breaking News : After huge success of making cars from used soft drink cans sourced from bhangarwalas, India's largest car manufacturer will be making cars using aluminum foil used to wrap sandwiches.
Engineers at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., claimed that aluminum foils do crumple more than soda cans. Thus an aluminum can absorb more impact.
Also aluminum foil being lighter will help us achieve better fuel efficiency.

If the cars by maruti are so safe then why did they opted out from NCAP crash tests? Why other cars with same safety features got 4 starts or 5 starts but their cars don't?

  • @TheKudla
    @TheKudla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

I agree with him when he says that passengers do not use seat belts in the rear seats, but as a manufacturer it's their responsibility to build cars with the best safety standards & features and uplift the safety awareness among Indians. He is just giving reasons and acknowledging the fact what Maruti Suzuki think of Indian consumers and how they make most out of it.

  • @mst3dmaker162
    @mst3dmaker162 4 ปีที่แล้ว +39

Basically what maruti director said that crumple zone is effective but as I was work as a accidental surveyor for motor vehicles basically if your vehicle outer structure is not as strong to absorb all the impacts it will transfer all the forces throughout the vehicle body which will increase the chances to get damage the occupants due to impact oriented damage components of their own vehicle.
"maruti is just increasing the cost of ownership by making fancy pricing and cheap build quality products."
it is must for safety that vehicle build quality should be proper as per safety norms TATA/hyundai/mahindra motors is also show to the "aware buyers" in global NCAP crash test, that they are providing a better build quality product with a compatitive price bracket.
Maruti having a huge market share in Indian market if they will provide a better build product with may be a little price hike, people will definitely buy their products but in current scenario only less aware and people with mouth publicity ( better mileage) are only going to buy their product. In simple words if any person wants to buy a safer car for their family maruti is comes in last in their buying decision. I hope I will give a proper suggestion as per my experience.

Thing is that, if u r an educated car buyer then u have to look several point. If u look only seafty in a budget car it will be not worthy.
Example like Tata cars ncap rating 4 and 5 stars.
Fine. U must consider driving dynamics, riding quallity, service, least resale, resale is important for indian buyer actually.
Apart from build quality Tata does not provided any above mention thing.
      We have limited buying capacity.
VW, skoda, ford, Toyota company in india sale figure is very poor.
In my eye they delivered actually international quallity product in India also.
People afraid as these car maintenance cost is high.
But u would not get any good qua llity with cheap price.
So, suzuki gradually increase the sale figure, other company wipe their business from india.
Actually India like pakora not Toyota.

Wow I was really impressed with starting your paragraph then it all faded away... Like dude I can get tata and mahindra... I would have been more happy if you added vw but hyundai lol...
Okay here are the fact kia and hyundai shares their platform and their H2 platform which is a botched up sandro platform is shared to seltos, creta, sonet and venue... And we all know what happened to seltos crash test.... They merely got 3 star for 0.3 points... That's even desperate... They purposefully never sent venue for crash test and if that is ever mentioned they just pointed out that euro venue scored 5 stars... Yeah I agree they did with curtain airbags and all safety features as standard... Even euro seltos got 5 stars but Indian didnt
Hyundai is robbing people in daylight... The safety should be a primary feature to all cars above atleast 10 and above and they didn't even got that... In that sense all maruti cars above 10l is very safe

The day public start putting safety as the top priority while purchasing a vehicle and it starts reflecting on the sales figures, Maruti will start producing safe cars with 4/5 stars safety ratings.
As of now, majority car sales are on the basis of maintenance cost and "kitna deti hain", where Maruti has been the king since ages. Hence safety is never prioritized by the company the way Tata or Mahindra does.

Even the sheet quality used by them in cars exported to Europe from India is better than India specific variant.
And people are literate enough to understand the difference between crumple zone & cabin safety and taken those things in consideration.

Price..if they do make 4-5star cars, the price of wagonr will be equal to Nexon because wagonr is just 25cm shorter than nexon, and wagonr has better electronics, better engine, reliable parts, better service.
Would anyone buy wagonr for the price of nexon? No.
If you want to compare punch and altroz to wagonr, then see, tata gives better safety at the cost of poor reliability, poor electronics which itself will fail & cause accident, poor engine, poor performance, poor service etc..list goes on.
Tata cars get 5 stars, but occupant safety will be same in wagonr n nexon, because nexon is heavy, and stopping an object in heavy momentum(due to heavy mass) by accident will bring more damage than stopping a car with less momentum(due to low mass)..see suppose A & B pillars are 10cm thick in wagonr, but they are sufficient to stop a car weighting 1000kg, similary nexon has 13cm thick pillar but they need to stop a heavy car of 1300kg weight.
So, adding weight in body looks good but in reality worst

Maruti concentrate only one thing which is " Kitna deti hai" i.e. only mileage factor. That's why they have intentionally building light weight cars( or the infamous "Tin-Can build quality) from the starting day to till date only to get increase the mileage factor for a country like India by targeting the low/midle class income group section of India. Now,for this they have compromised with a big parameter called SAFETY.Since more good the built structure, more will be kerb weight & comparitively less will be the mileage. For this reason, they are not at all bothered about the Safety of the Car as well as the passengers of that shit-metal,light weight cars. That's my personal observation about Maruti cars,Guys.

They say buy Indian products, how can one buy Indian products risking their life. And Maruti has become so complacent with their numbers, that they have forgotten quality and innovation. By implementation of BS6 their diesel engines are already out of competition and let some other norms come on built quality and they will go out of existence. Maruti should learn from Tata on constant improvement. Lord only can save this country where manufacturer believes in quantity rather than quality.

So if crumble zone is something Maruti have done intentionally for car like swift to lessen the impact of crash on the driver and passengers, and that’s why it got only 2 star rating in NCAP car crush test. Then what about Brezza, who got 4 ratings? Does this mean Brezza is not safe as it doesn’t have the crumble zone like swift... seriously your answer sucks..

  • @mst3dmaker162
    @mst3dmaker162 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't know what Maruti has to think but I have work approx 3 year as a accidental surveyor, and I know that if the outer structure is not as much solid as required then no passenger is safe, suppose 4 occupants are travelling in their new so called hartech platform and their vehicle get a side collision then about 45% of their vehicle body is getting damaged. So if outer structure is not as strong to bear the impact the occupants are not safe anymore, they must have to learn that other manufacturers just like Tata, Mahindra provided a robust structure that can hold the impact and inner cavity never get affected.
Another point they have said about crumple zone, so I would like to say its ok that they have generated more crumple zone so that that only vehicle get the damages but some one has to told them that if chassis are not regid then in any front impact it will damaged the chasi and engine bay bcos if your front end not that much strong to bear the front impact and easily get deformed then both chasi and engine get damaged it means every accidental Case it becomes a total loss condition which will directly increases the cost of ownership of that perticular product. Suppose a middle class person purchase a product of approx 7-8lkhs and within one month he will get an accidental situation then due to their so called crumple zone his vehicle is getting in total loss condition and get a n insurance claim of about 4-5 lkhs only then how he can invest his hard earn money their such kind of crap also called tin can.
Whole an all they are just making cost cutting and most unsafe products in now days only to increase their profit margins.

mera car skid kiya, steering ghumane k baad bhi gari nehi ghumi... I hit the tree... I had to change the radiator, front hood, 1 headlamp, whole front bumper, front crample rod (jiske upar bonnet lock hota hain), bottom part of engine oil chamber and also Maruti Logo...

The front & rear bumper just losses it mind on minor impact, there is video of maruti Ignis sigma model which shows how bad is the inner quality plastic is used. If Maruti is so concerned about occupant safety why haven’t they sent any mass selling car to GNCAP?
I don’t think he’s being completely honest over here on thin metal sheet. It is known Marutis have far inferior build in Indian versions compared to their European versions. Metal is an expensive part of building a car and a thicker sheet metal will increase the weight of the car thereby reducing the mileage, a Maruti USP. A lighter car is at a disadvantage in a real world crash.
