It's not fair...of all series that deserve to thrive in this day and age with a lack on charming, endearing characters outside of games like Nintendo and freakin' Fortnite, why can't TimeSplitters be one of them? There's so much charm and character put into TimeSplitters' colourful cast of hundreds of individuals from various points in time. Free Radical cannot catch a break...they try to make a game, it gets cancelled due to corrupt parent companies or they get shut down. At least give us a remastered collection of the original three games - I don't care if they aren't remakes or new games, give us *SOMETHING* so we can play them legally today on modern platforms and hopefully spread the word of just how appealing these games were and sticking it to modern gaming that we need more fun and character and not just emotionless, gritty garbage.
We don't even need it remastered, just a PC version with online support and modern fixes is we I need. But we can't even get that. Honestly, that is all we need is a port to Steam and modern console, it would sell like hotcakes guaranteed, funding the next game in the series.
Love your thumbnail Jobeth Casey and edwina are some of my favorite characters iwant to see a remake a reboot or a remaster lol still happy we’re getting timessplitters rewind though
It basically got cancelled because it had been in development for around 3 years with nothing to show for it except some concept art and basic gameplay (it apparently didn't even have a proper level implemented), and it would've taken around 3 more years for it to be released. That would've been a 6 year development cycle for a game that in my opinion should've taken 3 years at most. (And that 6 years is the bare minimum, assuming nothing major goes wrong.) Embracer Group decided to cut their losses rather than pass the point of no return. Because as beloved as the TimeSplitters franchise is, it's unlikely to make the amount of money required to significantly recoup the costs for such a lengthy development cycle. Besides, Embracer Group needed to cut costs quick, and what better way than an entire studio that hadn't made them any money, and wasn't likely to make them any for several more years. I know games typically take longer to make now. But time costs money, and TimeSplitters probably wouldn't succeed as a super high budget AAA game. And to be honest, I wouldn't want it to get that kind of budget and be forced to play it incredibly safe and bland. That being said, Dambuster Studios is still around, they're owned by Embracer Group, and they clearly still have a soft spot for TimeSplitters. Add in the fact that they finished off Dead Island 2 not so long back (meaning they probably don't have any projects currently in the works) I wouldn't be surprised if someone in there has asked if they could take over that cancelled TimeSplitters project. I mean, Dambuster Studios need to earn their keep, and it'd be a waste of money to not use those assets.
They play very similar to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. So if you've played and enjoyed those games, then I'd highly recommend giving the TimeSplitters series a go.
I've never crowdfunded a game before. But if they did that for TimeSplitters (or a spiritual successor like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night), I would definitely back it.

At least timesplitters is backwards compatible on Xbox so players can still play the og copies
The entire trilogy?
@@SegaMario no just time splitters 2 and future perfect
@@PenguinClubber Dunno why I said that, because I know the first game's PS2-exclusive.
Must've had a brain fart.

I just want mod support to the existing games. The series is made for modding.
This is a series I haven’t thought about in a while. I sunk so many hours into Timesplitters 2.
It's a whipper! Listening to burned CDs on my OG Xbox and killing bot after bot 🤌

Any word on the Timesplitters Rewind project? I haven't seen any updates on it in the past year or so.
last I heard it was still ongoing but development has slowed right down (but to be honest it's never been too fast)
there was an update in march on their youtube channel

This was one of my favorite game franchises of the 6th generation. I wish they could've been more successful.
what a shame. i legit would have give shit ton of money if they would remake Second Sight. what a classic
Know these games by reputation but actually haven't played them.

@@DanVzare Sounds good! I'll check them out.
Why? Are they Trotskyites?
Does anyone want to look into seriously crowdfunding a new game?
