This helped so much, as a college student that wants to go into plastics and has no one to ask questions about this I'm extremely grateful for this video.
Omgg, I and my girlfriend were just talking about how does one become a plastic surgeon exactlyy - and now your video - and you're backkk!! We're really happy to see you and excited to watch this now! Thank you Andrea!!!
Dr. Charafeddine is so inspirational! I personally am not interested in plastics right now but his advice is really helpful and he inspires me so much to work hard.
I would LOVE an updated version of this. Now, most programs are shifting toward an integrated route, and every year, matches into specialties like this become significantly more competitive (and now STEP 1 is pass/fail, leaving students with fewer opportunities to differentiate themselves, making research productivity all the more important).
Very very helpful video...the plastic surgery topic came up while were discussing the hospitalization of my friend a several years ago in "pediatrics" (which interestingly include over 18 yrs of age to early 20s I think) in surgery; where really amazing surgeons helped her restore her legs from a traumatic injury (with severe nerve damage; and hence they had to do several surgeries on her legs using techniques such as skin transplantation from skin grafts, etc) so she could use her legs again and walk. This corroborates on it precisely and you and Dr. Charafeddine are just so amazing and nice. I'm certain more enlightenment has been shed on this field in a concise wonderful 15-min video. Part 2 would be as immensely interesting!! Thank you again so much Andrea and Dr. Charafeddine.
You should do a video on how to do research during college/med school! I'm really interested in doing research during med school, and I don't really know how to get into it. Thanks!
@@davidgarrett4327 yea he wasted all his money on this big school and got expelled and now hes on the streets and he cant reply cause i dont have a phone
Awesome video!! I have been looking up on different websites trying to get answers on everything a plastic surgeon does & your video helped so much! My suggestion is to do a video like this with a neurosurgeon!
Andrea, thanks so much for the videos. In a little less than a year I'll be starting the application process to medical school and I love these kinds of videos. Incredibly eye opening. Thanks so much!!
This was really awesome you don't know how much I thank you. This was on my list of like top 3 interviews I wanted to see from you lol! Hoping I get to see you interview a pathologist or urologist next :)
Amazing video! I am aspiring to be a facial transplant surgeon after reading and talking to Carmen Tarleton (one of the world's first full face transplant recipients). What the plastic surgery world is made of is so interesting and this video just gave me such a better view of what this field is made of.
BEST video for me, Now I am really interested and I ways looking for areas of surgery where everyday is different because of the broad areas where plastic surgeons are needed
I love these videos Andrea! It's so good to get an idea of the different specialities out there that I probably would have never considered doing! Thank you.
Hi Andrea, can you talk about doing away rotations? Dr. Charafeddine mentioned it. I would like to know when can you do away rotations, when is the best to do rotations, what's it like doing aways, and how to manage it all when you want to do a specialty that basically requires aways.
Hey Andrea. May you please do a video on the day in the life or the training program for s hospitalist? Or, if you could do one on a meds peds physician. (Internal Medicine & Pediatrics) Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos Andrea. I'm guessing that given that nice Rolex on your wrist, you've completed your Residency and are now earning your just rewards salary-wise. :-)
So plastics covers Reconstruction and that is helping people who have had extensive injury that affects their face and skin and also burn victims. I'd like to help people normalize and feel great. I think plastics is a wonderful field with a negative stigma attached. The ENT aspect makes my head spin through. i wish there was a combined plastics/derm.
hi, ms.andrea. could you please make a video on a neurosurgeon who happens to be an img would be really helpful to know what kind of years research and preliminary residency that an img has to do to get into neurosurgery kamal koushik
I think this is all the people i think people want to see (in no order) -Neuros -ER docs -cardio(i would like to see that) -ortho -peds -truma -(if you could get doctor thompson on here would be great.)

Great video as always, Andrea! Stellar content, very informative! Do you have any relationship with the Neurosurg residents at Mayo? Because if you did one of these for neurosurgery I think I'd spontaneously combust from happiness. :)

Would you please do a video about non-traditional med students? also about someone that English is not her first language and has a strong accent? please help me out because I couldn't find any information about it. right now I am 30 years old and I just came to the U.S 2 years ago. Because of physicians like you guys, helps me keep the faith and the motivation to keep pressing forward. I would love to see and interview with a Forensic Pathologist!!!! This is one of the best educational channels!
Is this correct: 4 years pre-med (bachelors), 4 years med school, 2 years residency, 3 years plastic surgery schooling, 6m-1yr intense practice in selected criteria. Please let me know. Kindly, Anjel Kennedy
It would be 4 years pre-med, 4 years med school, either 6 years of plastic surgery residency OR 5 years general surgery residency followed by 3 years plastic surgery residency, and then 1-2 years of fellowship
prince emeh . I dont think you major matters. Im going to be majoring in biology , then when you get to medical thats when it really starts. So there isnt a "premed" major
