    I am highly amazed how traditional automatic transmission works by just using fluid and pressure to automatically shift gears without electronic control system 😲

    Gives a good overview of how it all plays together and is connected. Mostly we see only the core gearbox and valvebody. Thanks

    great finishing vid once you have an basic understanding of how the auto works.This vid ties all the elements together, especially the valve body which can look very confusing .

    How does it work for the ECT hydraulic system transmission, for example the petrol Innova?

    great vid, would be nicer if it explain how the fluid circulates getting cooled

    this just shows the importance of the fluid. everything is being driven by the atf

    So, the "gear shifter" actually is a controller that manipulates where does the fluid go?

    And with a lock-up torque converter, it can achieve the efficiency of a manual transmission.

    Nice
    This basic diagram is very helpfull to student of technical institute.
    I think this hydraulic diagram is almost as same as the bw35 transmission

      Hard to believe the base design was done in 1930s They have only made it shift better and with more gears.

    so they still use hydraulic systems? i thougt they use elecrical motors.

    • @demagab
      @demagab 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are still hydraulic, but now they use solenoids to control the flow of the oil, so instead of the valves opening when a certain pressure is achieved, therefore upshifting, the computer determines when to open the valves (solenoid controlled) based on the values read by various sensors or even by external inputs (the driver manually selecting the gears in tiptronic mode)

    today's gearboxes are not like that anymore, there's no more governor, it's entire electronic, with speed sensors, I think, but nice vid, indeed,

      @@YFighterY how's a zombie apoclypse has anything to do with a electronic transmission controller? and if you have to protect your car against an EMP, then you need a Ford model T

    • @YFighterY
      @YFighterY 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dennischen6127 will be hard to find a garage with people who are able to sell you a new ETC or who have a diagnostic's tool at least, since your transmission doesnt know what to do anymore without all the sensors and the software. I just wanted to say that more and more people rely too much on the modern technic without recognizing how much it depends on frequent maintainance by the manufacturer who should not be too far away from your home. When the world suffers from an apocalype, it wont be rebuilt by the brokers, software developers and ensurance agents. They will look in museums (because wikipedia will be down then) how people did things 200 years ago with simple methods
      (sorry for my not-native english)

    If you don't already understand the concept of operation, this is not helpful. If you're going to do an overly abbreviated video you could at least add a sound track to explain what the animation is trying to demonstrate. I got this only because I took and transmission class.

    • @mysterious3994
      @mysterious3994 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which transmission class? suggest me things to read/watch so I can understand what is going on here .
      Will be thankful .

    Seems a bit _outdated._ "Kickdown" cables haven't been used since the late 80's after fuel injection and computerized engine/powertrain modules came onto the scene...
