@@33LB Many. First of, Sega has let so many IPs remain dormant, their treatment of the Sonic fanbase (Sonic Origins shouldn't have cost that much and the game is plagued with bugs. They deserve way better), Sega of Japan's disdain for the Western audience (which cost them their entire console business) their need to always release the same product, not paying attention to the diehard fanbase (bringing Sega Saturn back to the forefront is something fans have been asking for years but they ignore it) their negligence of quality control. Sega tend to half ass their product when they make them, excluding Yakuza. Sega is a company that has so much potential but never capitalize on anything. Streets of Rage 4 should have been their project, not Lizardcube/DotEmu

If they release a US/EU version, they'd better include the 6 button pad this time! I honestly can't comprehend why on earth they chose to use the original basic controller for the previous mini console.. There were even games on it that pretty much require the expanded button layout.
Well, even if the Mega Drive Mini 2 doesn't come to the US, you can still easily mod the original Genesis/Mega Drive Mini and load it with your own collection of Sega CD, Genesis, or whatever other 90s arcade/console games you want to play.
Ichidant and Tant-R were the precursos of the party games genre. Hoprfully we will have Rolling Thunder 2, Quackshot, Ristar, Alien Storm, Shining Force 2, Rocket Knight Adventures, Shadow Dancer, Ranger X, Mercs, Road Avenger, Snatcher, Lunar games, Soleil and E-Swat in the next lists.
The Nadia game has a wonderful intro that I just leave it playing sometimes. I don't know the language though so that's all. Intro is like an anime about friends loving each other and remembering each other lol.

Nobody seems to mention they made new art assets for the car in Out Run. I know it's expected due to the Ferrari thing, but still, it sticks out so much I'm surprised the videos I've seen didn't point it out.
Star Mobile was finished for the MD but then the president of the company fell ill and with all of that going on, the game was put on the shelf. Glad Sega dug back to this one just like with Tetris. We're in good hands with Mr. Okunari (and Miyazaki, now at Atlus) at Sega.
I think Tekken 5 had Starblade playable when the game was initially loading up, presumably as a nod to the playable Galaga on the original Tekken loading screen.

Ooooh, that cyber stick 2 looks like something I'd love to get purely to play the actual arcade version of Afterburner (and Star Wars Battlepod) on my PC, hoping it might have some PC plug n' play functionality. Interestingly, looks like they've had to modify the car sprite once again compared to the original MD version of Outrun to make it not look like a Ferrari Testarossa.
It's crazy how much support Namcot (Namco) gave the Mega Drive/Genesis in the beginning if it's life. It's a shame that support didn't carry over after they basically became a second party developer for Sony during the PS1 era. As for Konami, Rocket Knight Adventures & Snatcher NEED to be on this thing! Great Konami original IPs that aren't tied up in a corporate license is almost guarantee this one will sell out. Hopefully, Capcom gives the green light for Final Fight CD too. An iconic release showing the power of the Sega CD.
In theory you would think the Genesis would have been able to do a near-arcade perfect port of Outrun, seeing as the technology it was running on which was the genesis came out 2 years after the arcade release...
Library is gonna have to be heavily changed for the US market. I have a feeling this will sadly be JP only like the Gamegear Micro. There are definitely still enough good Sega CD and Genesis titles to put on this for a US market though. Time will tell.
The inclusion of Splatterhouse 2 also opens up the door to more violent games like Snatcher, Night Trap, and Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side being included.
I'm very interested in this if it does come to North America region. I'm happy to see Splatterhouse 2 included, and would love to see some fighting games included with it as well, like Eternal Champions 1 for the Genesis or 2 for Sega CD
Yeah I guess the point is it's a mega drive mini but I do agree that you'd be wishing you were playing the arcade versions. It's quite hard to play the arcade version of outrun at home though now (mame excluded)
Virtua Racing and Out Run? I got to have this. I have no money, but there is time till October. Now my only two extra games that I would love to see are Desert Strike and (perhaps impossible as it is a Saturn game) Sega Rally.
Splatterhouse 2 (along with Rocket Knight) was probably the biggest omission from the original Mini. Wonder if Sega can get me to pay for a whole other system...

I'd like to see Haunting Starring Poulterguy, Sonic 3, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Arch Rivals or NBA Jam, Alladdin, and SO many others that we didn't get on the first mini!!!
So nervous about this not coming elsewhere, the previous sega hardware had limited releases outside of japan, with the game gear mini remeaning exclusive and the astro city mini having only a very limited release outside of japan. Sadly if this comes out, this might be just a strategy to make western consumers double dip by buying both versions. Still hopefully that is the case.
32X version definitely is closer to the arcade, but the Genesis version actually runs at 60fps compared to the 32X's 30FPS. Dempa handled it and they opted to base it off the X68000 release rather than the arcade original, and overall I'd say it's quite decent given the limitations. I'd still take the PC Engine port instead, but Dempa did do the best I think they could.
It definitely won't happen but a translated version of Nadia for a western release of this product would warm my heart. Anything Gainax/khara related always does.

It’s what you’d expect from the Saturn-to-Sega CD downgrade: pretty damn choppy and not very pretty. It’s a really neat inclusion in something like this, and I’m glad it’s there, but it’s not a great version.

Sega did try really hard to get a good line up. To get the game Nadia Secret of the Blue water available in Mega Dive 2 Mini. Sega 's Represent have to get approval from Bandai Namco (game), NHK (Anime) and Toho(Music).
Was the original Genesis / Mega Drive Mini announced pretty much around the same time for all regions? The reason I ask is because I recall that being the case, and I suspect we would've heard something by now if this was coming to other regions. That said, it'd be really odd for the U.S. to not get it, as it's not as though the Mega Drive was all that popular in Japan.
Yeah I definitely think we aren't getting it West-side. It would have been announced already. This is another niche release along the lines of the Game Gear Micro and Astro City Mini
The Puzzle n' Action series is well remembered in Japan, it's just one of those things that's always gonna show up. The System C arcade games were ported to the Mega Drive & Game Gear, then got AGES releases on Saturn, 2500 releases on PS2, those were brought to PSN, and then the AGES series on Switch. There literally hasn't been a generation without them showing up since they were first released, so they've gotta be making _someone_ happy. They were a clear inflluence on the Wario Ware series. It even merited a recent nostalgia appearance on High Score Girl. I don't know if this make Ichidant-R inevitable here though. You just know they're holding some things back to see if they can justify a third mini featuring the 32X.
I'm aware that certain series appeal to the Japanese, but these games are available in abundance elsewhere. They are not hard to find. Sega should be putting titles on this to excite the market, not more stuff they have had access to countless times before.
@@SegaLordX For sure my man, but I know you know these things tend to be thought of as nostalgia plays aimed at casual consumers first & foremost. It could have been worse, they still haven't hit us with Thunder Blade. But overall I personally feel they've nailed the excite-the-market category between Popful Mail, Shining Force CD, Sonic CD , Splatterhouse 2 and a new version of Fantasy Zone. (Though I do kinda wonder how much the latter happened for Sega to have a 16-bit version to re-release that doesn't involve paying royalties to whoever owns the Sunsoft catalogue these days).

I believe your videos made me a Sega fan! (I was a PC adventure game player back in the day, a Sierra On-Line fanboy to be more precise). I can imagine it wouldn't be a popular choice, but I still want to play Outrun 2019 (legally) one day, so I hope it'll appear on a (European) collection or mini console eventually .
While i like the design of the Genesis 2 over the original, most of the included games on the first mini really are MUST HAVES for the system. I can understand Sega not including them again, looking at the current titles for me it's more of an expansion (also some must haves), you will need the first mini for those amazing exclusives it has to offer that probably won't be on this release. Thx for the update, hope Streets of Rage 3 japan version, Revenge of Shinobi, Super Street Fighter 2 and Turtles the Hyperstone Heist will be included here.
It's too bad they aren't using the vastly superior After Burner for the 32X. The Genesis version is a classic, in that so many people had it, but I don't remember thinking it was that great. Mega Panel was actually the first or second import game I ever bought many years ago, based solely on the fact that it was in an issue of Mega Play and I thought the girls were pretty. For the life of me, I could not get a handle on the game play mechanics.

It's actually really impressive they got that Nadia game on there because of all the licensing hell that goes with releasing an old game based on an old manga/anime.
Would love to see the helicopter strike games. And golden axe 2 and 3. Would love the double dragons also only for u said the megadrive versions were not good at all but i loved the arcade versions. Oh and turtles game aswell i never played it but seen it on this chanell a few times and it looks very good.
Yeah I'm guessing most of the puzzle games would probably get changed for a western version of this, except for Columns 3. There just isn't much love for them outside of Japan, and Fushigi no Umi no Nadia would probably get scrubbed as well due to licensing and Sega probably not bothering to translate it. I've never heard of Night Striker though and it does look quite interesting, so that one would actually be worth keeping for a western release.

The three button controller was for nsotalgic reasons. They could have at least packed a six button controller with the mini console.

I bought the frist Sega mini in 2019 for 65 bucks. It was on sale. In the future. I'm going to purchase the Sega mini 2. ^u^

Same feeling here. After Burner and Out Run in the old 16 bit Genesis? Meh... There are much better ways to enjoy these games.
Yeah I guess the point is it's a mega drive mini but I do agree that you'd be wishing you were playing the arcade versions. It's quite hard to play the arcade version of outrun at home though now (mame excluded)

Now my only two extra games that I would love to see are Desert Strike and (perhaps impossible as it is a Saturn game) Sega Rally.
Splatterhouse 2 (along with Rocket Knight) was probably the biggest omission from the original Mini. Wonder if Sega can get me to pay for a whole other system...
Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3 & Knuckle, & Disney’s Aladdin were big omissions two.

The fact that they worked with Disney for the last mini makes me hope that Spider-Man might be on the mini 2.
I'd like to see Haunting Starring Poulterguy, Sonic 3, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Arch Rivals or NBA Jam, Alladdin, and SO many others that we didn't get on the first mini!!!
I'd say S3 or S3+K are unlikely, as Sega would want to maximize profits with their rather dubious Origins compilation.
So nervous about this not coming elsewhere, the previous sega hardware had limited releases outside of japan, with the game gear mini remeaning exclusive and the astro city mini having only a very limited release outside of japan.
Sadly if this comes out, this might be just a strategy to make western consumers double dip by buying both versions. Still hopefully that is the case.

I had it on 32x, be interested to see a comparison between that and the normal Megadrive version
32X version definitely is closer to the arcade, but the Genesis version actually runs at 60fps compared to the 32X's 30FPS. Dempa handled it and they opted to base it off the X68000 release rather than the arcade original, and overall I'd say it's quite decent given the limitations. I'd still take the PC Engine port instead, but Dempa did do the best I think they could.

It definitely won't happen but a translated version of Nadia for a western release of this product would warm my heart. Anything Gainax/khara related always does.
They probably said that about Monster World IV but that got translated!

I managed to get Night Striker S on Saturn recently but I am very curious about the Sega CD version!
It’s what you’d expect from the Saturn-to-Sega CD downgrade: pretty damn choppy and not very pretty. It’s a really neat inclusion in something like this, and I’m glad it’s there, but it’s not a great version.
@@ABCD-iz3bl I know it has an arranged soundtrack that is not in the other versions, I have seen footage and I know it's a pixelated mess though footage in composite I sweat made the game look less pixelated!
Sega did try really hard to get a good line up. To get the game Nadia Secret of the Blue water available in Mega Dive 2 Mini. Sega 's Represent have to get approval from Bandai Namco (game), NHK (Anime) and Toho(Music).
Was the original Genesis / Mega Drive Mini announced pretty much around the same time for all regions? The reason I ask is because I recall that being the case, and I suspect we would've heard something by now if this was coming to other regions. That said, it'd be really odd for the U.S. to not get it, as it's not as though the Mega Drive was all that popular in Japan.
Yeah I definitely think we aren't getting it West-side. It would have been announced already. This is another niche release along the lines of the Game Gear Micro and Astro City Mini
For westeners, we would get High Seas Havoc, Earthworm Jim 2, Boogerman, Sonic 3D Blast, Marvel Land, Rolling Thunder 3, Quackshot and more.

The Puzzle n' Action series is well remembered in Japan, it's just one of those things that's always gonna show up. The System C arcade games were ported to the Mega Drive & Game Gear, then got AGES releases on Saturn, 2500 releases on PS2, those were brought to PSN, and then the AGES series on Switch. There literally hasn't been a generation without them showing up since they were first released, so they've gotta be making _someone_ happy. They were a clear inflluence on the Wario Ware series. It even merited a recent nostalgia appearance on High Score Girl.
I don't know if this make Ichidant-R inevitable here though. You just know they're holding some things back to see if they can justify a third mini featuring the 32X.
I'm aware that certain series appeal to the Japanese, but these games are available in abundance elsewhere. They are not hard to find. Sega should be putting titles on this to excite the market, not more stuff they have had access to countless times before.
@@SegaLordX For sure my man, but I know you know these things tend to be thought of as nostalgia plays aimed at casual consumers first & foremost. It could have been worse, they still haven't hit us with Thunder Blade. But overall I personally feel they've nailed the excite-the-market category between Popful Mail, Shining Force CD, Sonic CD , Splatterhouse 2 and a new version of Fantasy Zone. (Though I do kinda wonder how much the latter happened for Sega to have a 16-bit version to re-release that doesn't involve paying royalties to whoever owns the Sunsoft catalogue these days).

I believe your videos made me a Sega fan! (I was a PC adventure game player back in the day, a Sierra On-Line fanboy to be more precise). I can imagine it wouldn't be a popular choice, but I still want to play Outrun 2019 (legally) one day, so I hope it'll appear on a (European) collection or mini console eventually .
The Mega CD Mini will be released Worldwide in February.
While i like the design of the Genesis 2 over the original, most of the included games on the first mini really are MUST HAVES for the system. I can understand Sega not including them again, looking at the current titles for me it's more of an expansion (also some must haves), you will need the first mini for those amazing exclusives it has to offer that probably won't be on this release. Thx for the update, hope Streets of Rage 3 japan version, Revenge of Shinobi, Super Street Fighter 2 and Turtles the Hyperstone Heist will be included here.
Did you notice that Outrun will use the same car logo found on the Yakuza and the Switch version instead of the Ferrari logo.

It's too bad they aren't using the vastly superior After Burner for the 32X. The Genesis version is a classic, in that so many people had it, but I don't remember thinking it was that great. Mega Panel was actually the first or second import game I ever bought many years ago, based solely on the fact that it was in an issue of Mega Play and I thought the girls were pretty. For the life of me, I could not get a handle on the game play mechanics.
32X was a complete and utter commercial failure that SEGA would rather forget about.
If this doesn’t get a PAL release, I’m importing, just as I did the Astro City Mini and the blue Game Gear Micro!

A Western Release date hasn't been announced yet, but its going to ship Stateside in February.

Would love to see the helicopter strike games. And golden axe 2 and 3. Would love the double dragons also only for u said the megadrive versions were not good at all but i loved the arcade versions. Oh and turtles game aswell i never played it but seen it on this chanell a few times and it looks very good.

Yeah I'm guessing most of the puzzle games would probably get changed for a western version of this, except for Columns 3. There just isn't much love for them outside of Japan, and Fushigi no Umi no Nadia would probably get scrubbed as well due to licensing and Sega probably not bothering to translate it. I've never heard of Night Striker though and it does look quite interesting, so that one would actually be worth keeping for a western release.
When it releases can you provide a link to import it?
I love M2 they're such nerds always going to be a few left field surprises. Hopefully a couple of the more obscure ones get translated and included.
