I honestly love how quick Sento was to tell Banjou this upon learning it. It fits with the kind of direct/blunt relationship they have, and shows how much Sento trusts Banjou. He's not gonna hide it or beat around the bush about it. Banjou deserves to know.
Man.... the belt's "ARE YOU READY?!" in episode 21 being twisted and echoed for that one scene is still one of the most powerful moments in all of Kamen Rider for me.... it suddenly hits so deep, the normally cheerful/heroic message being reviewed as something else entirely....
They did so many unique things with the “are you ready?!” multiple times with the riders directly responding to the driver and manipulating the sounds with the reverb in 21 and the like.

I love how in multiple scenes they use the build drivers "Are you ready?" as an actual question for the users at the time to answer such as sento after killing the first of the hokuto crow trio or when kazumin transforms into grease blizzard
I absolutely love Gentoku trying something new, especially when he says something with his custom made shirts. Plus, him being this grizzly mean man in goofy outfits works in its favor. Classic juxtaposition. A powerful tool of comedy in my opinion.
Idk if someone already mentioned this, but the reasons why the bottles get more and more random is because he started realizing what Evolt was doing and started giving him random pairings for the biotic bottles
Man it boggled my mind that anyone could hate the Build Genius suit, I thought it was GORGEOUS! That pristine white, the rainbow colours, the holographic chest piece, all the bottles being incorporated, it's one of the few forms I've HAD to buy a model of because I just adore it!
My understanding of Great Cross-Z is that since he was stripped of his Evolt DNA and that the Dragon Evol Bottle uses both his and Evolt's DNA, he was basically able to hotwire himself back into the rider system by using that to inject Evolt DNA back into him.
I'd probably say it was the fact that he used the Dragon Evol Bottle acted as a catalyst to quicken the production of more Evol Cells, we did know that Evol and Banjou were united through birth, so Evol was already part of Banjou, no matter how much cells Evol took out of him. Man mass produced more Evol Cells from just punching the shit out of Evolt. At least that would be my theory.
@@groadmiralinerika2540 Well, they said evolt's entire genome was purged from banjou, so presumably that'd mean he was completely mrs. and mr. Banjou DNA at that point. Since he was no longer part Blood, he'd either need craploads of nebula gas or to become part Blood again. Thus the great dragon evol bottle would be able to put back that banjou-Blood genome where it belongs since it held a record of it. Though, from that point, it probably took a hot minute for the evol DNA to fully reintegrate, hence why he started with great cross-Z before hot swapping to cross-Z magma the next few battles.
@@BlazingKhioneus Oh, he'd definitely needed time to remake those lost blood tribe DNAs by fighting definitely. But he did turn to Cross-Z Magma after fighting as Great Cross-Z Dragon, why did he continue using it would probably come down to Cross-Z Magma being an uncomfortable form, since it burnt his skin from its own produced heat. But yeah, the explanation makes more sense, just wondering how the DNA from Evol Dragon would go into Banjou other than teleporting in. Which was why I speculated his blood still had the ability to produce Evol DNA, he just needed a catalyst to reactivate them and produce them.
This is the most robust season of Rider I've seen, it's cast, story(regardless of flaws), it's suits, it's serious tone with the comedy mixed in. Second favorite (probably tied with my actual favorite) season of Rider, that being Ryuki
the only flaw i kinda see is the very unconvincing portrayal of Banjou Ryuga as his profession, the so called protein obsessed ex-MMA champion, he should've looked much more ripped with a bit more mass at least(and competent in fighting) if that was the case Ryuga the fugitive on the other hand, was just fine, they probably should have ditched the protein junkie bit and alter his job to something more believable for Eiji Akaso to portray
I love this season and I would watch it again if I want to, the suits and belts have no problems and issues (besides kamen rider cross-x charge looks weird)
Evolt is my favorite Rider villain and one of my favorite villains(and twists) in fiction. He's able to be the wise mentor to the protagonists and still be a pompous yet sociopathic jerk to them, going against the sudo Tobei Tachibana coded character he's originally presented as, and becoming more like Shocker great leader... and Frieza from DBZ
He reminds me of Eobard Thawne in season 1 Flash where he trained Barry Allen but it's for his own schemes...and he also has some fondness for the heroic team despite of that scheming, IMO.
I love the song. I love the storyline. I love the plot twist. I love the journey, agony, pain, sadness, friendship, smile, and happiness at the end. Kamen Rider Build really built well.
This is my number 1 ranked Kamen Rider season, Build is truly a masterpiece, it's so different from other seasons, which is why i Like it so much, it is so unique!
The reason the Best Matches are so weird are because Shoichi started giving Evolt answers of weird things for the "things that could kill them" like Comics and Erasers to protect the things Misora liked, Evolt says this himself in the flashback in episode 41
If Gundam was the “real robot” of mecha, then Build is the “real henshin” of toku. This is the only Rider series to actually explore what henshin heroes would be irl: military weapons. Build tackles loss, guilt of killing, the responsibilities of a warrior, the suffering of civilians and the military industrial complex. Zero-one tried to tackle corporate corruption, but it just wasn’t the same. That’s why Build is my favorite Rider.
I thought Eiji had the, "Reaching out to people in arm length," phase even in OOO. I think the first notable point was when he regained senses after using Putotyra for the first time.
Build was my first KR and will always hold the spot as my fav. I’ve watched 12 seasons in the past 3-4 months and it still has yet to be topped for me. From the cast, to the suits, to the tone. Just… 10/10 all the way. I really hope it gets a continuation or something because it still has a few questions I want answered, especially regarding Banjou and Evolt.
The reason they changed Japan to a different Island is likely because the show setting very similar to the Sengoku period three way Territory split and how Nanba wants to reunite Japan then slowly expand into the rest of the world, similar to how Hideyoshi Toyotomi did when try to invade Korea after the death of Lord Nobunaga, then how the former empire occupied korea and china during ww2.
Man evil has to be straight up not only my favorite kamen rider design, but also in general my favorite toku design ever, all of it's forms are so cool looking.
Actually just got one of my best friends into Kamen Rider. He wanted to start with Gaim because of the writer, but we got him to start with W. He really enjoys it so far.
Honestly this season might still have my favorite final fight in Rider (at least from what I've seen so far). With Evolt and Sento both giving it their all, and gradually burning through their upgrades and forms respectively until it's just Rabbit/Tank and base Alien-Evolt.
Apparently the weird combos like smartphone wolf and octopus light are because Misora/The Martian queen inside her figured out Evolt’s plan and began feeding him fake counters, hence the weird ones.
I rewatched this with my community and then I get to watch History since I never got around to V-Cinemas. Easily one of the seasons I try /not/ to show my friends because of the near-perfect status of it. I always enjoy how honest this is where we can hear your excitement when certain parts happen.
Build was a good series and I found a reliable site to watch Kamen Rider and the series I have got to so far was Den-O, Decade through Wizard, and Ghost through Build and my current watch is Zi-O on Episode 7 as I'm taking a break to watch TH-cam videos like yours until I get back onto it

I watched build back in 2018 or so, I have vague memories of 13/14 year old me following along the previews for each episode on the kamen rider wiki as it was airing as I didn’t know how to watch full episodes yet, trying to predict what would happen… I did actually predict a couple of things, like partially that Ryuga Banjou was half alien, and after looking at scans that Misora was the ‘queen of Mars’ which would of course be Vernage. I also did get that Takumi kutsuragi’s dad was the second build (I called him dark build). I did mess up with Evolto though, I thought he was the king of Mars who fought vernage for the crown using the Pandora’s box but destroyed the world, and now wanted to use it to destroy humanity and bring back the Martian civilisation with him as king. That was… partially right. I still can’t really believe it’s been 5 years on, I’m now 17 and I got back into Kamen rider last year due to life stuff and being interested. I really should watch this again, now I’m a bit older, and see how I like it
I love how this show was different than usual. And the final stage play I love that one because it was the first final stage play in Kamen Rider I watched online
I love Build! I got my Build Driver and Full Bottles and weapons , only 2 Build Figures . I love all the riders . My personal favorite being Rogue and Mad Rogue . I love all the best matches !
This was my first season of Kamen Rider. I've been watching every season going backwards from it (and forwards from it as new stuff has come out), chasing that high ever since. Nothing I've seen in Kamen Rider so far has come close. I love this franchise as a whole but Build will always be number one for me.
One of your videos randomly appeared on my feed some weeks ago, and since then I've watched a few. They're kind of decent binge content, but more than that, I actually decided to sit down and watch a series today, and I started with Build. Obviously I won't get all the homages and callbacks, but I'm on Episode 6 now and really enjoying it. Thank you for introducing me to Kamen Rider, and thank you for having such an open conversation about not needlessly hating on things, and trying to present both sides of the argument. I'll probably check out Fourze after this, then I want to go back to Showa and watch RX, I'm expecting some tonal whiplash.
Build was my first full Rider series, and I binged it in like a week, it hooked me into Rider in general, I love all the characters, the story kept me hooked all the way through
1:05:56 glad you also think it's a lot! I've only seen Build once, and that was when it first aired! As I wasn't watching it weekly, I kept feeling like I was forgetting important plot points that would further help me piece together what was going on! Since then of course I can appreciate its' artistic storytelling and more mature tone that, as you said, allows adults to watch while still being appropriate for kids! Also, side note, but one of my favorite moments in not just Build but all of Kamen Rider is seeing all 4 main riders team up for the first time against the antagonist!
1:29:21 yeah, personal anecdote I was in an incredibly depressed state during sophomore year and the first half of junior year of high school. I got back into Toku with Ultraman Z and way later this show. Then I made some friends while working on a school project, whom I kept in touch with throughout the rest of high school. I felt a bit like shad- I mean Sento finding his place in the world and well as a group of people he could lean on
Halfway throught the last arc i noticed one small yet effective foreshadowing, Banjou's intuition for best matches, which is probably Evolt's memories in the subconscious of Banjou

I look forward to whatever you produce next! As for Build... oh, Build. Kamen Rider Build is a season that just doesn't work for me despite my best attempts to enjoy it. To me, Build is an incredibly ambitious show that is mostly well made but suffers a death by 1000 cuts. Whether it's the writing, characterization, suits, or OST, there are a myriad of decisions that bug me and bring down my score for this season. For what it's worth, though, I am glad this season was so warmly received by the general fandom since hopefully that has encouraged Toei to continue letting KR writers and directors play with the formula and be wildly ambitious with their projects. So, even if I don't personally enjoy Build, I can still appreciate the season.
My thoughts when watching heisei generations final. As part of ex-aid, it was good. Bikaiser's henshin is always a favorite, though the revival of Ankh got a bit of an eyeroll from me since this was one of those totally, definitely back from the dead scenes where you know itll end in a second tearful goodbye. As part of Build(i watched all of ex aid including gen final then recently watched all of build), they character assassinated banjou so bad. He already had his motivation to fight from Kasumi's letter and he fought plenty of times out of suit, so why is he confused when other people do it? Also my eyes rolled much harder at Ankh's revival this time. Still love the Bikaiser henshin.
I really feel the movie didn't assassinated Banjo's character but develop it. In that point in the series, he said that he will fight only to protect the person he cares and trust in him, not EVERYONE, something that was a central point in New World Cross-Z, but hasn't get exactly why Kamen Riders would fight to protect perfect strangers with their lives on the line until this movie.
Part 2 is also my favorite part of the series. Kazumin instantly became my favorite character, I loved how he was really chill outside of rider form, but once he changed he got really intense and excited. I love how he shouts single words that relate to that particular struggle, I love his relationship with the trio and it hurt my soul to watch each of them get snuffed out. Kazumin glazing aside, this is also where Kamen Rider Rogue shows up and he became my favorite rider design (so far), and his Henshin sounds are so incredible, I love that the music sounds like a synth version of the jaws theme, and the bloodcurdling scream when it finishes just oozes menace. I was really invested in his turnaround, even with the stupid shirt gimmic, but he was always the second best villain of the show. I say second best because Evolt (More specifically Blood Stalk) takes first place no contest. For a majority of the series, he is the most entertaining thing on screen at all times. I think he kinda devolves into generic shonen villain toward the end, but he had such a crazy personality. I for one love how the series continues for another 13 or so episodes because he finds humans so entertaining he just decides not to blow up the planet. The ending was really great too. Gaim did the same with its "creating a new world" schtick, but Build did it much better. My biggest criticism with this season was we never saw Banjou and Sento kiss. 9/10
As a guy who keeps saying that Kamen rider is his favorite of the big three (Ultras, Sentai, and Riders) I've find I've only watched 12 compared to the 15 sentais. So I'm still impressed I've got a long way to go and for the longest time I've said that my favorite Rider is W. So color me surprised when Build practically blasted all of my favorites to become third place (Behind Kiva/Kuuga and W). My god, the twists, turns, and everything else that this thing had. It's close to being perfect and I was here for it all.
I remember watching Build and getting really into it. Hadn't gotten into a season of KR like that since Kabuto. Build is the first season I went out of my way to get the belt toy from cause even the gimmick was interesting to me.

One of my favorite seasons. I liked the comedic nature, the mystery, and importantly, Evolt. I loved him as Blood Stalk and as Evolt. He may be a snake, but I like him.
On the topic of Zi-O, him during his debut at the end of the movie and the actual one we got in the show couldn't be any more different. Even the voice didn't sound the same. I expected somebody charismatic based on that first appearance but I got a bland goody two-shoes.
1:12:13 The reason bottle combinations are extreme like "Rabbit Tank" while some others are less literate like "Wolf Smartphone" is because at some point Misora wanted to protect the things Isurugi liked, instead of killing them. (The things Misora picked were things Isurugi also liked), which is why it started off with "Rabbit Tank" then got into the weird stuff like "Ninja Comic"

When watching Revice, there were some characters that are similar to the ones in Build but written better imo. *Gentoku < Aguilera:* Started out as evil only to be reformed as heroes later on and repent for their actions. *Evolto < Vail:* Villains responsible for setting up the season's plot. *Soichi < Genta:* Father character who got possessed by a villain before the season's debut. *Utsumi < Julio:* Henchman character that does whatever the writing tells them to do.
The build cast has more flavour, Aguilera did became good but she kind of lost interesting in her whille Gebtoku is way more flesh out as a character Evolto is at least way entertainibg, whille vail it was just set to be the demon of genta, vail din't has that flamboic or comidic energy as evlodto but he still was intimidating at some point And genta was possesed ONCE! but for Soichi he was possesed for 2 arcs At least for Julio was written whell only to be a butt moneky and then became over demons twice? Whille utsumi din't have much interesting things on him but the twist of him became a cyborg was kind of neat and funny at the same time, and he transformed 6 times
@@denysvision Here's my reasonings why these characters never satisfied me: *Gentoku:* Never liked how he flipped 180° from intimidating adversary to comedic character. Kinda felt like a knockoff Kuroto, even if not. *Evolto:* His new form via Black Panel was unnecessary. He should've destroyed Earth once he got his powers back. The movies lowkey supported my bias on why he fails as a villain. *Soichi:* Frankly, I hardly remembered him at all. Debuted as coffee maker to nothing more than Evolto's human guise. *Utsumi:* Reference aside, him becoming a cyborg felt shoehorned. If that ain't considered bad writing, agree to disagree. Also Episode 38 was when I start to lose faith in Build. MadRouge should've been reserved for Gentoku.

Build is personally my reference point for what a good KR season is. This might be a wrong observation, but i think the thing about Build's storytelling/progression, is that it united character development with worldbuilding(and i guess also the plot)
My big gripe with New World Kamen Rider Cross-Z isnt that the memories of the old world were restored, more how soon they were. I watched it right after the finale and final stage, so I really wanted to see more of Banjo and Sento living in the new world where they sorta dont have a place to be. I loved Killbas, not even minding the Evolt's brother cliche. Kamen Rider always knocks it out of the park with their over-the-top villians. Plus the consequence of the lost bottle subjects remaining scarred in the new world is an interesting element that we see more of in New World Kamen Rider Grease. Also, I really expected Evolt to like Earth now and be an actual good guy, but you can't win every battle, still interesting to see him back on the board.
Words don't describe my love for this season so I'll put it like this: Best Match. Everything (almost everything) is what a Kamen Rider show should be... makes me wonder how they dropped the ball with Zi-O but it can't be helped. ... I will say Evolto is my favorite Kamen Rider villain and probably my top favorite villain outside his own series. Like give him parts and pieces of different villains and what he's done to shape the world of Build and you get like "THIS GUY IS INSANE" and I love it. I'll say now before I got into Build because I watched Ex-Aid as my second rider show and thought Cronus was the best... he still is but like Evolto is the embodiment of a villain. He manipulated EVERYONE into playing their parts, gathering all the Fullbottles, the Pandora Box, getting back his Evol Driver and once he became whole; he had no need to rush things. He would have his fun until he got bored and devour the damn planet! I don't think I feel the way I felt with the kind of villain Evolto is. He is... perfection. He's a bastard, evil being and yet he's the funniest thing about Build. I love him.
I don't get why people hate on genius so much. It's a a pretty good representation of the "Buildup" to the point >Clean scientific white >Literally bursting with bottles, the hallmark of Sento/Katsuragi's inventive progress >Presented in less of a grim mechanical design as the war-born driver and more in a fun (fuck yeah science) transformation >Left and Right brain represented in the hot/cold color scheme that also ties back to the "base" form of Rabbit and Tank >White and Gold, Blue and Gold, and Red and Gold all look good together I feel like KRB-G gets too much flak. Also Smartphone/Wolf is "Man and Beast" I think. So combining them makes a werewolf and (to me) explains why it got a hazard form: out of control werewolf. To be fair: Banjo wanted out of the henshin cube and we've already had +one dramatic death so... Just saying I was expecting Banjo to die horribly and kind of haunt Sento for the remainder of the series.
*My hate on Build Genius:* -Never a fan of suits adorned with henshin trinkets (Decade Complete 21 and Geiz Majesty) -Expected to utilize Fullbottle powers (especially ones never used) akin to Gaim Kiwami but only 2 were used. -Overall it's used to keep up with Evolto's absurd power level.
One thing i love about Sento and in my opinion put hi above many main riders is the fact he can be beaten, like he is not this invincible plot armored juggernaut that always have his way because he is the main rider.

My understanding of Great Cross-Z is that since he was stripped of his Evolt DNA and that the Dragon Evol Bottle uses both his and Evolt's DNA, he was basically able to hotwire himself back into the rider system by using that to inject Evolt DNA back into him.
I'd probably say it was the fact that he used the Dragon Evol Bottle acted as a catalyst to quicken the production of more Evol Cells, we did know that Evol and Banjou were united through birth, so Evol was already part of Banjou, no matter how much cells Evol took out of him. Man mass produced more Evol Cells from just punching the shit out of Evolt.
At least that would be my theory.
@@groadmiralinerika2540 Well, they said evolt's entire genome was purged from banjou, so presumably that'd mean he was completely mrs. and mr. Banjou DNA at that point. Since he was no longer part Blood, he'd either need craploads of nebula gas or to become part Blood again. Thus the great dragon evol bottle would be able to put back that banjou-Blood genome where it belongs since it held a record of it. Though, from that point, it probably took a hot minute for the evol DNA to fully reintegrate, hence why he started with great cross-Z before hot swapping to cross-Z magma the next few battles.
@@BlazingKhioneus Oh, he'd definitely needed time to remake those lost blood tribe DNAs by fighting definitely. But he did turn to Cross-Z Magma after fighting as Great Cross-Z Dragon, why did he continue using it would probably come down to Cross-Z Magma being an uncomfortable form, since it burnt his skin from its own produced heat.
But yeah, the explanation makes more sense, just wondering how the DNA from Evol Dragon would go into Banjou other than teleporting in. Which was why I speculated his blood still had the ability to produce Evol DNA, he just needed a catalyst to reactivate them and produce them.
This is the most robust season of Rider I've seen, it's cast, story(regardless of flaws), it's suits, it's serious tone with the comedy mixed in. Second favorite (probably tied with my actual favorite) season of Rider, that being Ryuki
the only flaw i kinda see is the very unconvincing portrayal of Banjou Ryuga as his profession, the so called protein obsessed ex-MMA champion, he should've looked much more ripped with a bit more mass at least(and competent in fighting) if that was the case
Ryuga the fugitive on the other hand, was just fine, they probably should have ditched the protein junkie bit and alter his job to something more believable for Eiji Akaso to portray
I love this season and I would watch it again if I want to, the suits and belts have no problems and issues (besides kamen rider cross-x charge looks weird)

Evolt is my favorite Rider villain and one of my favorite villains(and twists) in fiction. He's able to be the wise mentor to the protagonists and still be a pompous yet sociopathic jerk to them, going against the sudo Tobei Tachibana coded character he's originally presented as, and becoming more like Shocker great leader... and Frieza from DBZ
Basically fathered them in a way, twisted but yeah. I’m sure some barely noticeable part of him cares about them xD

He reminds me of Eobard Thawne in season 1 Flash where he trained Barry Allen but it's for his own schemes...and he also has some fondness for the heroic team despite of that scheming, IMO.
I love the song. I love the storyline. I love the plot twist. I love the journey, agony, pain, sadness, friendship, smile, and happiness at the end. Kamen Rider Build really built well.

The reason the Best Matches are so weird are because Shoichi started giving Evolt answers of weird things for the "things that could kill them" like Comics and Erasers to protect the things Misora liked, Evolt says this himself in the flashback in episode 41
If Gundam was the “real robot” of mecha, then Build is the “real henshin” of toku. This is the only Rider series to actually explore what henshin heroes would be irl: military weapons. Build tackles loss, guilt of killing, the responsibilities of a warrior, the suffering of civilians and the military industrial complex. Zero-one tried to tackle corporate corruption, but it just wasn’t the same. That’s why Build is my favorite Rider.
I thought Eiji had the, "Reaching out to people in arm length," phase even in OOO. I think the first notable point was when he regained senses after using Putotyra for the first time.
I mean he mentions it a couple of time after they reveal his backstory.
Build was my first KR and will always hold the spot as my fav. I’ve watched 12 seasons in the past 3-4 months and it still has yet to be topped for me. From the cast, to the suits, to the tone. Just… 10/10 all the way. I really hope it gets a continuation or something because it still has a few questions I want answered, especially regarding Banjou and Evolt.
The reason they changed Japan to a different Island is likely because the show setting very similar to the Sengoku period three way Territory split and how Nanba wants to reunite Japan then slowly expand into the rest of the world, similar to how Hideyoshi Toyotomi did when try to invade Korea after the death of Lord Nobunaga, then how the former empire occupied korea and china during ww2.
I don’t know if this is just me but when ever I see a build suit design I get a large Lego vibe from them. And I love it.
Man evil has to be straight up not only my favorite kamen rider design, but also in general my favorite toku design ever, all of it's forms are so cool looking.

The best “Are you ready!?” Has to be Kazumi’s blizzard debut and the Hazard ptsd. They’re so impactful and they way they’re used is perfect.
My favorite part of Build was when Sento said, “It’s building time” and builded all over Evolt.

Honestly this season might still have my favorite final fight in Rider (at least from what I've seen so far). With Evolt and Sento both giving it their all, and gradually burning through their upgrades and forms respectively until it's just Rabbit/Tank and base Alien-Evolt.

Apparently the weird combos like smartphone wolf and octopus light are because Misora/The Martian queen inside her figured out Evolt’s plan and began feeding him fake counters, hence the weird ones.
So the Martian queen first plan at revenge is to make evolt forms sound silly diabolical 😨

I rewatched this with my community and then I get to watch History since I never got around to V-Cinemas. Easily one of the seasons I try /not/ to show my friends because of the near-perfect status of it. I always enjoy how honest this is where we can hear your excitement when certain parts happen.
Build was a good series and I found a reliable site to watch Kamen Rider and the series I have got to so far was Den-O, Decade through Wizard, and Ghost through Build and my current watch is Zi-O on Episode 7 as I'm taking a break to watch TH-cam videos like yours until I get back onto it

While Kamen Rider Drive being what got me into rider to began with, I took a break for a couple of years away from it after ghost and build got me back into it. I love it for this reason
Build was the first season of kamen rider I watched and I tell absolutely everyone who likes kamen rider to watch it, it’s legit one of the best and literally everyone’s suit design is the best!

Loved Build. It was one of my favorite seasons of Kamen Rider, especially the funny interactions with the characters.
This video made me remember Why I fell in love with kamen rider, why Build became my favorite whilst being ongoing.
Yet I'm sad that nothing came even close after it, even 5 seasons later
I watched build back in 2018 or so, I have vague memories of 13/14 year old me following along the previews for each episode on the kamen rider wiki as it was airing as I didn’t know how to watch full episodes yet, trying to predict what would happen… I did actually predict a couple of things, like partially that Ryuga Banjou was half alien, and after looking at scans that Misora was the ‘queen of Mars’ which would of course be Vernage. I also did get that Takumi kutsuragi’s dad was the second build (I called him dark build). I did mess up with Evolto though, I thought he was the king of Mars who fought vernage for the crown using the Pandora’s box but destroyed the world, and now wanted to use it to destroy humanity and bring back the Martian civilisation with him as king. That was… partially right.
I still can’t really believe it’s been 5 years on, I’m now 17 and I got back into Kamen rider last year due to life stuff and being interested. I really should watch this again, now I’m a bit older, and see how I like it
I love how this show was different than usual. And the final stage play I love that one because it was the first final stage play in Kamen Rider I watched online

This was my first season of Kamen Rider. I've been watching every season going backwards from it (and forwards from it as new stuff has come out), chasing that high ever since. Nothing I've seen in Kamen Rider so far has come close. I love this franchise as a whole but Build will always be number one for me.
One of your videos randomly appeared on my feed some weeks ago, and since then I've watched a few. They're kind of decent binge content, but more than that, I actually decided to sit down and watch a series today, and I started with Build. Obviously I won't get all the homages and callbacks, but I'm on Episode 6 now and really enjoying it. Thank you for introducing me to Kamen Rider, and thank you for having such an open conversation about not needlessly hating on things, and trying to present both sides of the argument. I'll probably check out Fourze after this, then I want to go back to Showa and watch RX, I'm expecting some tonal whiplash.

1:05:56 glad you also think it's a lot! I've only seen Build once, and that was when it first aired! As I wasn't watching it weekly, I kept feeling like I was forgetting important plot points that would further help me piece together what was going on! Since then of course I can appreciate its' artistic storytelling and more mature tone that, as you said, allows adults to watch while still being appropriate for kids!
Also, side note, but one of my favorite moments in not just Build but all of Kamen Rider is seeing all 4 main riders team up for the first time against the antagonist!

1:29:21 yeah, personal anecdote I was in an incredibly depressed state during sophomore year and the first half of junior year of high school. I got back into Toku with Ultraman Z and way later this show. Then I made some friends while working on a school project, whom I kept in touch with throughout the rest of high school. I felt a bit like shad- I mean Sento finding his place in the world and well as a group of people he could lean on
Halfway throught the last arc i noticed one small yet effective foreshadowing, Banjou's intuition for best matches, which is probably Evolt's memories in the subconscious of Banjou

As for Build... oh, Build. Kamen Rider Build is a season that just doesn't work for me despite my best attempts to enjoy it. To me, Build is an incredibly ambitious show that is mostly well made but suffers a death by 1000 cuts. Whether it's the writing, characterization, suits, or OST, there are a myriad of decisions that bug me and bring down my score for this season. For what it's worth, though, I am glad this season was so warmly received by the general fandom since hopefully that has encouraged Toei to continue letting KR writers and directors play with the formula and be wildly ambitious with their projects. So, even if I don't personally enjoy Build, I can still appreciate the season.

My thoughts when watching heisei generations final. As part of ex-aid, it was good. Bikaiser's henshin is always a favorite, though the revival of Ankh got a bit of an eyeroll from me since this was one of those totally, definitely back from the dead scenes where you know itll end in a second tearful goodbye. As part of Build(i watched all of ex aid including gen final then recently watched all of build), they character assassinated banjou so bad. He already had his motivation to fight from Kasumi's letter and he fought plenty of times out of suit, so why is he confused when other people do it? Also my eyes rolled much harder at Ankh's revival this time. Still love the Bikaiser henshin.
I really feel the movie didn't assassinated Banjo's character but develop it. In that point in the series, he said that he will fight only to protect the person he cares and trust in him, not EVERYONE, something that was a central point in New World Cross-Z, but hasn't get exactly why Kamen Riders would fight to protect perfect strangers with their lives on the line until this movie.
Part 2 is also my favorite part of the series. Kazumin instantly became my favorite character, I loved how he was really chill outside of rider form, but once he changed he got really intense and excited. I love how he shouts single words that relate to that particular struggle, I love his relationship with the trio and it hurt my soul to watch each of them get snuffed out. Kazumin glazing aside, this is also where Kamen Rider Rogue shows up and he became my favorite rider design (so far), and his Henshin sounds are so incredible, I love that the music sounds like a synth version of the jaws theme, and the bloodcurdling scream when it finishes just oozes menace. I was really invested in his turnaround, even with the stupid shirt gimmic, but he was always the second best villain of the show. I say second best because Evolt (More specifically Blood Stalk) takes first place no contest. For a majority of the series, he is the most entertaining thing on screen at all times. I think he kinda devolves into generic shonen villain toward the end, but he had such a crazy personality. I for one love how the series continues for another 13 or so episodes because he finds humans so entertaining he just decides not to blow up the planet. The ending was really great too. Gaim did the same with its "creating a new world" schtick, but Build did it much better. My biggest criticism with this season was we never saw Banjou and Sento kiss. 9/10

As a guy who keeps saying that Kamen rider is his favorite of the big three (Ultras, Sentai, and Riders) I've find I've only watched 12 compared to the 15 sentais. So I'm still impressed I've got a long way to go and for the longest time I've said that my favorite Rider is W. So color me surprised when Build practically blasted all of my favorites to become third place (Behind Kiva/Kuuga and W). My god, the twists, turns, and everything else that this thing had. It's close to being perfect and I was here for it all.
I remember watching Build and getting really into it. Hadn't gotten into a season of KR like that since Kabuto. Build is the first season I went out of my way to get the belt toy from cause even the gimmick was interesting to me.

This kamen rider season is near and dear to my heart because this one started my adventure down this road of tokusatsu and I don’t plan on looking back anytime soon. The only looking back I’ll be doing is looking back at older kamen rider shows and and any other tokusatsu
I don't know if everyone know this but:
1.The KamenRider Build(Show) takes place in the World Of Build
2.The Build New "World" Movies apparently takes place in the World Of KamenRider
On the number 2 the "other World" that the World Of Build merge with is the World Of KamenRider
*Spoiler* :In KamenRider ReVice, a KamenRider fan named George had a Build merchandise. Why would he have that otherwise he witnessed Build himself
So, with the bottle best matches being what destroys the other, it became random because if I remember he was trying to throw evolve off or something like that they explained in that part. But I may be remembering wrong
One of my favorite seasons. I liked the comedic nature, the mystery, and importantly, Evolt. I loved him as Blood Stalk and as Evolt. He may be a snake, but I like him.
On the topic of Zi-O, him during his debut at the end of the movie and the actual one we got in the show couldn't be any more different. Even the voice didn't sound the same. I expected somebody charismatic based on that first appearance but I got a bland goody two-shoes.
People eventually just chalked up that appearance as the og Ohma Zi-O and not the Zi-O we got.
My introduction to Kamen rider was build. It's the reason I keep watching to this day.

The reason bottle combinations are extreme like "Rabbit Tank" while some others are less literate like "Wolf Smartphone" is because at some point Misora wanted to protect the things Isurugi liked, instead of killing them. (The things Misora picked were things Isurugi also liked), which is why it started off with "Rabbit Tank" then got into the weird stuff like "Ninja Comic"
dang your “best cd way to watch build” part made me remember I only started watching kamen rider because I saw a tumblr post that said “watch kamen rider build” and I was like “sure”
When watching Revice, there were some characters that are similar to the ones in Build but written better imo.
*Gentoku < Aguilera:* Started out as evil only to be reformed as heroes later on and repent for their actions.
*Evolto < Vail:* Villains responsible for setting up the season's plot.
*Soichi < Genta:* Father character who got possessed by a villain before the season's debut.
*Utsumi < Julio:* Henchman character that does whatever the writing tells them to do.
The build cast has more flavour,
Aguilera did became good but she kind of lost interesting in her whille Gebtoku is way more flesh out as a character
Evolto is at least way entertainibg, whille vail it was just set to be the demon of genta, vail din't has that flamboic or comidic energy as evlodto but he still was intimidating at some point
And genta was possesed ONCE! but for Soichi he was possesed for 2 arcs
At least for Julio was written whell only to be a butt moneky and then became over demons twice? Whille utsumi din't have much interesting things on him but the twist of him became a cyborg was kind of neat and funny at the same time, and he transformed 6 times

@@denysvision Here's my reasonings why these characters never satisfied me:
*Gentoku:* Never liked how he flipped 180° from intimidating adversary to comedic character. Kinda felt like a knockoff Kuroto, even if not.
*Evolto:* His new form via Black Panel was unnecessary. He should've destroyed Earth once he got his powers back. The movies lowkey supported my bias on why he fails as a villain.
*Soichi:* Frankly, I hardly remembered him at all. Debuted as coffee maker to nothing more than Evolto's human guise.
*Utsumi:* Reference aside, him becoming a cyborg felt shoehorned. If that ain't considered bad writing, agree to disagree. Also Episode 38 was when I start to lose faith in Build. MadRouge should've been reserved for Gentoku.

This might be a wrong observation, but i think the thing about Build's storytelling/progression, is that it united character development with worldbuilding(and i guess also the plot)
I love the transformation sequence it made me feels nostalgic since it remind me of the bar things like the build your own toy.

My big gripe with New World Kamen Rider Cross-Z isnt that the memories of the old world were restored, more how soon they were. I watched it right after the finale and final stage, so I really wanted to see more of Banjo and Sento living in the new world where they sorta dont have a place to be. I loved Killbas, not even minding the Evolt's brother cliche. Kamen Rider always knocks it out of the park with their over-the-top villians. Plus the consequence of the lost bottle subjects remaining scarred in the new world is an interesting element that we see more of in New World Kamen Rider Grease. Also, I really expected Evolt to like Earth now and be an actual good guy, but you can't win every battle, still interesting to see him back on the board.
Words don't describe my love for this season so I'll put it like this: Best Match. Everything (almost everything) is what a Kamen Rider show should be... makes me wonder how they dropped the ball with Zi-O but it can't be helped.
... I will say Evolto is my favorite Kamen Rider villain and probably my top favorite villain outside his own series. Like give him parts and pieces of different villains and what he's done to shape the world of Build and you get like "THIS GUY IS INSANE" and I love it. I'll say now before I got into Build because I watched Ex-Aid as my second rider show and thought Cronus was the best... he still is but like Evolto is the embodiment of a villain. He manipulated EVERYONE into playing their parts, gathering all the Fullbottles, the Pandora Box, getting back his Evol Driver and once he became whole; he had no need to rush things. He would have his fun until he got bored and devour the damn planet! I don't think I feel the way I felt with the kind of villain Evolto is. He is... perfection. He's a bastard, evil being and yet he's the funniest thing about Build. I love him.
I don't get why people hate on genius so much. It's a a pretty good representation of the "Buildup" to the point

Also Smartphone/Wolf is "Man and Beast" I think. So combining them makes a werewolf and (to me) explains why it got a hazard form: out of control werewolf.
To be fair: Banjo wanted out of the henshin cube and we've already had +one dramatic death so...
Just saying I was expecting Banjo to die horribly and kind of haunt Sento for the remainder of the series.
*My hate on Build Genius:*
-Never a fan of suits adorned with henshin trinkets (Decade Complete 21 and Geiz Majesty)
-Expected to utilize Fullbottle powers (especially ones never used) akin to Gaim Kiwami but only 2 were used.
-Overall it's used to keep up with Evolto's absurd power level.
Rewatching this I'm surprised how much more the bikes were used than previous and later series
Zi-o is probably my favorite of the sires seeing as its a celebration of all kamen rider.
Can't wait for the next one.
One thing i love about Sento and in my opinion put hi above many main riders is the fact he can be beaten, like he is not this invincible plot armored juggernaut that always have his way because he is the main rider.
