  • In this video, I'm doing some restoration work on an NES/Nintendo Entertainment System. Repairing and retrobrighting the case and recapping the electronics.
The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is an 8-bit third-generation home video game console produced by Nintendo. It was first released in Japan in 1983 as the Family Computer
(Retrobrighting)To return the yellow color of the plastic to its true white color
What was used in this video?
1- Hair color-lightening cream contains 9% Hydrogen peroxide
    2- Sodium bicarbonate
    3- OXI Action
    4- Isopropyl Alcohol
5- Sunlight was used as a natural source of ultraviolet rays.
How to Remove Yellow Stains from Plastic
Whether they're from foods, sunlight, or chemical reactions, yellow stains often show up on plastic. There are many ways you can try to tackle these stains, such as soaking the plastic in bleach, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide
Thank you all so much for supporting this growing channel I hope this video helps some of you, make sure to leave a like and share to keep the retro scene alive!

For those who don't understand why MANY people prefer the original console to modern emulators, its nostalgia. If you have fond memories playing this console as a child, nothing but an original console will do. It's a great feeling to relive happier times.🥰🥰🥰

I went back to my childhood :( Sometimes, all I wish is to go back to the past to experience life as a child again. Quite often I find myself lost in the past traveling through the times when I just rejoiced every single moment without thinking of what lies ahead. I just wish I had some superpower to do the time travel.

What a blast from the past. Next and modern day gaming is awesome, but it's not THIS. I was 11 boy again watching excite bike and Mario bros.
I must just say thank you. I've been watching a good few channels and videos over the last few weeks cleaning and restoring consoles (Xbox 360 more specifically) and having discovered your channel, I finally decided to take the plunge and open up my console for the first time after 12 years. What a personal achievement it was for me, considering that it all panned out well.
Watching your videos inspired the confidence I needed to do it. So thank you. 👍🏻

You marbled the plastic case with the peroxide cream treatment. It looked bad after you de-yellowed it. You're supposed to massage the peroxide cream every 15 minutes or so and also make sure it doesn't dry out. It looked dried at the end. Even better just put it out in strong sunlight to remove yellowing. The broken plastic 'toothpick' fix looked bad. The gameplay at the end looked very emulated and not real. Like how you used power tools to clean the rust off the metal parts but it would have looked nicer if those surfaces were polished to a 'like new' finish. Now the rust will return because of how the metal brushes scratch the surface. 2/10 restoration.

You were very intentionally avoiding showing that it was a modded nes for some reason. It had a standard nintendo composite or s video jack installed in the rear.
Also, it was pretty cool watching you somehow play it with left and right audio cables installed, and no video cable plugged in. Neat trick. 😂 🧐

    • @jdemuro1

I think it should still work. The cable ends are just color coded so you don't cross-wire them. But inside the cable is still the same [probably] stranded aluminum. That said, the gameplay video is still staged.

Gonna have to cry foul on that ending. The whole thing screams faked. Sure the restoration looks great minus the crap he left on the whole right side of the top, but he's clearly not playing from that console. Purposefully keeping not only the power LED, but also the controller port out of sight? Not to mention buttons pressed not matching up with the video played. Come on man. Everyone knows A button to jump and B to run... A- for cleanup, but gotta fail you for not repairing the console.

As someone who repairs electronits fro a living I’m skeptical on how there was 0 PCB damage despite the rusty EMI shield, nor were the bottom screws even slightly rusty, something that happens as the water or humidity is affected by gravity.

I think this video is fake, mainly due to the gameplay demo. There is no way composite looks that clean, alongside the fact that there is integer scaling on an HDTV, which unless using an external upscaler wouldn't be the case normally.

Hola, que tipo de herramienta usas para quitarle el oxido a la parte de aluminio metalico de la consola?

😂 that's actually a normal functioning 8 bit NES right from the box after 2 yrs of nonstop use.

The console was dirty as hell, yet the 72 pin and the board pins were pristine. Curious.

I've just taken my NES apart and found a black stain on the circuit board. Do you know what it is?
I can take a pic of it, if you need it.

That looks awful. Try taking a bit of pride in your work. The vents on the top of the case looks like tipex has been used.
