Cleetus had the suspension loaded and went over some sharp/uneven paving. That broke the right arm. The car hopped again and the landing/wall contact broke the left side. Uneven paving aggravated the high suspension loads.
This is the advise everyone starting out needs. Just did my first drift weekend with my g35 coupe, and it was nothing but reliable. Welded diff, BC coilovers, steering wheel, traction control defeated and oil cooler. One thing Taylor didn’t mention is if you have a factory brembo car, a dual caliper setup is pretty pricey. I was able to function all weekend with a stock handbrake with a drift button.
350 really needs lca’s tho if you lower it much, the 2 peice system fucks you over, i would say go gk tech if you got money part shop max if you dont have as much
Very nice Explanation Taylor. If I would have a drift car, it definitely would be a 350Z! In my opinion, they are the best in tandem runs. And the engines are amazingly reliable!
1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES!!!!! HOLY SHIT!!! You, Adam and Matt all convinced me to get a G35 sedan for every reason you said in this vid, but over a hr of driving straight! that's VERY impressive. I just got it out of storage yesterday and can not wait to hit the track! Great vid as always taylor! Keep it up! I have my fingers crossed for at least a 4 door z replacement if not a g35 sedan.
Awesome video taylor. I picked up a 03' Touring 6spd coupe in Silver 3 months ago for my daily/all rounder since I only have the funds for one car atm, I am so happy with it in stock from cant wait to feel how it changes with mods. Coilovers and GKtech bolt on angle kit next!
ayyyyyy FDF fab for the win! litterally every drift car in Ontario and even allot of cars in Quebec runs their kits! you wont be disapointed, the quality is just exceptional
For anyone who doesnt like bc coils (honestly haven't heard any) it says a lot that you worked for them and saw their quality and behind the scenes and still say such good things. 🤷♂️
Hey man- if you’re ever in the norheast, come drive my stock powered e46 330i. It’s been probably the most reliable car in my club for the past 2 years, it’s driven over an hour to and from 15 events, some of them 2 days. Loaded up to 12 wheels and tires, canopy, tools, etc in there and drove it to each drift day. It’s my ultimate seat time car. It’s a simple budget build, BC coils, welded diff, slr super angle, dual caliper hydro setup. Slr I bought new, coils I bought brand new in their box, “used” for $500. Only issue I’ve had is that some gaskets and seals started leaking more than I’d like last year, after 230k miles and 15 events, so this winter I’ve refreshed almost every seal and gasket. It’s a car that I’ve upgraded as I’ve evolved as a driver, and everyone I let drive it can’t believe how well set up it is for how little I’m really into it. 7k front, 8k rear on the BC, but the suspension geometry makes it an effective 4-5k in the rear I think. I’ll be down in WV at panthera sometime this season, as this is the first time I’ve ever had a tow vehicle and a trailer! Finally!!
I Never had any interest in these chassis then took a g35 as trade. The car already had full exhaust, intake, radiator, clutch flywheel, steering wheel and drop springs. Even with the terrible stock angle, its absolutely the most controllable car I've driven. Its big guy friendly, I'm 6' 3" 250lbs and have a ton of space, even with the stock seats. I love the damn car now and I've been a life long import hater 😂
Been so busy working i forgot how much i enjoy watching Taylor, hey bud if you get to read this May 11th pbir drift circuit,i already requested that day off lol you Adam,Ginge etc.is the only reason i go,🤙🤘✊👊💯
This is the video I really wanted, in two minds whether to get a 350z as a seat time car myself as I hate beating on my r34 GTT. Loads of useful information in this to make a reliable car. Cheers man !
Sad part is that Z's are already fairly expensive in my area. Been watching for one for while and I haven't found one for under $6k while I can find plenty of sun $2k Miatas. That said I still plan on getting a Miata not because I want to drift, but I want a good all around car. I wanna autocross, run laps in a circuit, maybe take a run or 2 down the drag strip. I wanna do it all with one car and we all know that Miata Is Always The Answer
Very informative. I've slid in the rain and snow but never had a dedicated track car and I've been looking at some 350z and they seem pretty simple and reliable I think you helped me decided. Thanks bro
I watched this when it came out, and I'm watching again and I have to say, a 99-04 mustang GT is probably just as good of a starter car. Similar price, similar power, similar weight, more TQ, the 4.6V is stupid cheap and super reliable, they have a factory oil cooler option if you want that and a coilover and Angie kit from Jon Duncan/Steve Mass will run you about $3000 total depending whether you get their stage 1, 2 or 3 kit or if you go with Jon's bolt on angle bracket. The bracket won't give you the most angle, but it's a huge improvement over stock and it's about $400-500.
I Know that you and Adam, told TJ to get a Z what do you think that he did on event then went and JZ swap it. I know your a Seat time guy, and he seems to be more of an Builder without building to much. Great Video. Also Support North American Companys FDF fab :D
I'd say the same thing about an e36 m3. Super reliable in stock form and its the same deal with swap kits, you can put a ZF trans behind a jz super easy
I have a huge interest in drifting, I drive a rsx type s which I obviously can’t drift. Been looking in getting a reliable salvage title 350z. Thoughts ??

I have a question I love drifting but I have never done it I buy a 350z and I have no idea on how start the project or what should I do first pls pls any tips. And how do I install the hand brake
Could you please make a parts list with links? I know you are thinking about getting a sedan to drift. I believe you should get a 2006 Infiniti G35 due to the fact of parts redundancy making it easier to make a quick fix or diagnose a problem with either the engine or parts of the wiring harness because you will usually have a functional car as a reference as well as a temporary parts donor to find a solution to the problem. By owning the "Z" and the "G" you will always have a car to drive!
I love how you point out that you are jinxing yourself and you just happened to film this before that glorious crash.

I'm 110% very happy I chose a 350z over anything else, I have driven maybe 10 events since starting drifting and have only welded the diff handbrake and changed oil and I have learned a ton and never worry about breaking down, now I have gktech angle on the way and BCs soon hopefully
I have a question I love drifting but I have never done it I buy a 350z and I have no idea on how start the project or what should I do first pls pls any tips. And how do I install the hand brake
Los joseph’s con su Karen Rojas don’t do it is a trap
Could you please make a parts list with links? I know you are thinking about getting a sedan to drift. I believe you should get a 2006 Infiniti G35 due to the fact of parts redundancy making it easier to make a quick fix or diagnose a problem with either the engine or parts of the wiring harness because you will usually have a functional car as a reference as well as a temporary parts donor to find a solution to the problem. By owning the "Z" and the "G" you will always have a car to drive!
Wouldn't the rx-7 be better than the miata. chassis and suspension wise?
I like the 350z and e46 body style
the 350z is my dream car
