You should make that Dog pull that sled ! Although it might give him a complex thinking he's a Husky ? Your antenna idea reminds me of making a CB antenna out of a Barrel lock for a 55 gallon drum, mounted on top of a wooden clothes line pole, and fed with some 300 ohm twin lead, when I was probably 8 ? Obviously not having a clue as to what I was doing, it seemed to help my walkie talkie work a little better ? Now much, much older, and I hope wiser, I have wondered if it wasn't just dumb luck that the length of twin lead was just long enough to work on 11 meters, and the big round loop didn't do anything but serve as a load, and that it was probably my feed line radiating all along ? If not on the first trip, then maybe the RF coming back towards the transmitter ! Lol....! Makes me wonder if you have a similar situation, with your example ? Love to experiment ! Great fun ! Too, I wonder since RF follows ground, have you ever moved your counterpoise to different compass points, to see if you might direct your signal somewhat ? Thanks for sharing your entrepreneurial antenna designs ! Lol... ! '73 & '72 ! You give new meaning to using only the amount of power necessary to make the contact ! ✊ 😲 QRP FOREVER !
Hey Sleeve.. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.. I have not tried moving the counterpoise in different directions.. It's always a mystery to me how all this stuff works anyway, and when it does, its even a bigger mystery, LOL... But its all in good fun and always a bonus when I can make contacts.. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel.. QRP Harder ! !... 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Hi Bill.. It works great as I can pack all my equipment in the sled and cover it. Thanks for another entertaining video, Kevin! I love the idea of trying many different items as antennas. The most interesting thing I have successfully loaded up for an antenna was a "baseball backstop", you know, one of the chain-link structures behind home plate to catch foul balls on a baseball field. Worked quite a few stations at Field Day a number of years ago. Maybe give that a try sometime. Keep up the great work! 72 Paul NA9M
Hi Paul.. I'm glad you found the video entertaining.. I've seen guys have great success with those backstops fences.. It's amazing the things we have around us that will work.. I think its good to know there are other options available if we need them in an emergency some day.. Thanks for stopping by and watching.. I appreciate it. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Hello .. That would have been nice, I agree.. I packed light on this adventure and didn't bring the antenna analyzer along, otherwise it would have been good to see it for sure.. Maybe we will do it again this summer when it's a little warmer and play around with it more.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
I was kind of wondering if a grain shovel antenna like yours would beat a grain shovel dipole? I currently only have one grain shovel but I was thinking I should buy a second one to have a nice balanced dipole.
Hahaha.. That's a great idea.. and then you could also set them vertical next to each other in a Phased Array configuration.. That might be worth a try too.. Do a video and let me know.. Thanks for stopping by.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

Hi Mark.. In previous videos I was using an external MFJ tuner to match these random objects. There would be a short coax between the radio and the MFJ tuner, then a single wire from the tuner to the random object. I did this cause I didn't think the G90 internal tuner would be able to make the match.. When I did the cornstalk experiment, I decided to just run coax to the random object and let the internal G90 do the tuning.. It worked, so I've been seeing if the G90 will tune other things I throw at it as well.. I hope that makes sense.. It's a fun little radio.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. I appreciate it.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

Hello patoborq.. Thanks for your comment.. I appreciate it.. But I just key the mic and then the radio magic takes over and does amazing things.. It's a lot of fun to play and experiment with the unknown.. Thanks for watching.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Anything to make contact for the love of the hobby. Nice work and '73.
Right?... any excuse not to shovel "snow", but rather shovel RF and play radio, LOL.. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Thanks for the great video. I enjoyed it very much. 73 de Guenter DL4SCW

That's so cool. I would've had no idea we were talking through a shovel LOL. Awesome! KC3OLZ
Hi Kody.. Thanks for activating and hearing my call.. It was great that we were both QRP 5w.. Our antennas were working well in combination with the current conditions.. Congrats on your recent Cheetah award.. that's awesome.. Thanks for watching.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Kevin, that was amazing! Thanks for the video, keep warm. K 7DFL
Hey Dale.. We worked each other twice in the past month while you were out playing POTA.. I was glad to get you in my log again.. that makes 3 times now.. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.. always good to hear from Ham Radio's Most Dangerous Farmer, LOL.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
✊
😲
QRP FOREVER !
!... 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
my and I do so happily when a see the new video thanks Kevin your numero Uno jejejejej perfect station Kevin you brother the Albert Einstein genius
Thank you Alvaro for the nice comment and for watching the videos.. I appreciate it very much.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Shack on a sled. Love it.
G4GHB
Hi Bill.. It works great as I can pack all my equipment in the sled and cover it. When I get on site I just lift up the pole sections pulling up the fabric and frame and all my equipment is already inside. It makes outdoor radio play a lot of fun.. Thanks for stopping by and watching.. I appreciate it.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
@@hamradioqrp-k0klb Looks good, and more room than a tent.
Hey, pretty cool, no pun intended. I have been wondering about you - thought maybe you had become a snowbird and flew the coop to Florida.
Hey Rick.. We're still around.. Things slow down around here in the winter weather.. The older I get, the easier it is to stay in the house with a warm cup of coffee, LOL... As the weather starts warming up, I'll be out more.. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.. Good to hear from you again.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Would be really interesting to see run wspr on your antennas at the end if your video!
You are so right !!.. I have often wished I could do that as well.. I only have the WSPR tests set up here in the shack with my laptop and ic7300.. I don't take the laptop portable nor do I have the G90 set up for digital mode.. but you are right, it would be great info to see.. Maybe this summer, on a warmer day, I'll take the 7300 and laptop out and play with it again.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. I appreciate it.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
I wonder if it is directional? I love it. Thanks for sharing. I have grandsons in basketball. I have been gone all the times you have the net.
Kevin KA0KAE
haha.. I thought it might be more directional towards the east, but I guess not.. Keep those grandkids supported in their activities.. That's great what you are doing.. We will catch you again on the net some day soon.. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.. I appreciate it,.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

@Ham Radio QRP - K0KLB thanks for trudge out on your frozen farm to make the video and it not be an ad.
Goo is good. I would have loved to see an all band swr read out on that.
How's the radio?
The Radio works great.. better than I expect and always surprises me.. I will always have one in my collection of radios to use.. Thanks for stopping by.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
@@hamradioqrp-k0klb how it works on CB in FM using new firmware?
@@okhamradio Oh.. I never do firmware upgrades.. It's been working great without them.. k0klb
well that was awesome, did your XYL know you had candy? You will have to pedal longer.. lol
Hahaha.. Nope, she doesn't know, and she doesn't watch the vids so I'm in the clear, LOL .. the Bro brought candy with the coffee to give me energy, LOL... Thanks for watching Steve.. I appreciate it.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Im diggin it! 73 my friend. W0AAV
Haha.. Hey Kyle.. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.. Good to hear from you.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
Why do you need coax to use the G90 tuner?
Edit: I guess so the antenna starts at your object and not at the radio
