Oil pressure is one of those things where I consider a big bright idiot light perfectly reasonable.
that and tie in a super loud buzzer like on a boat... big bright light, and a loud buzzer sure will grab your attention.

Dim I’m not because because with 8 or 9 quarts in the pan the bottom end of the engine is basically being splashed lubed, the 64 dollar question is what do the cam bearing journals look like and what do the bearing in the Turbo look like.

Noise is normal compressor surge from lack of vtec. Engine not able to move the air the turbo is pumping on the low cam lobe.
yup. it was just the "WHY no vtec" was the issue. no oil pressure no vtec.

Brent is exactly correct. This is what I'm about to do to
my own engine- a "bearing roll-in".
Leave engine in car; the bearings did their job- they protected
all the precisely machined bits. No need to remove
and polish anything. No Plastigauge necessary.
Everything must be CLEAN- as in 2-3 cans of brake cleaner!
Hose it out really well, blow shop air too.
Simply replace the bearings- crank & rod.
*TORQUE EVERYTHING*
You guys better check the cam journals, with no oil pressure.
When they pulled the covers they didnt see anything. Plus they were saying there was residual oil up top.
Need to check the cam journals not valves and lobes. Presence of oil in the head doesn't mean the cam journals had oil.
Yeah York, that aluminum is pretty soft, would be surprised if theres no damage.

My point was that they didnt see any material up top, which would most likely be present in the oil that never drained(and was there for a while). Now on the other hand, if it was ME and it was MY motor, of course, its cheap peace of mind. I just think they are going with what they see since they are in a hurry, and he is going to be rebuilding that motor in the future anyway.
@@ralphmenta249 cam bearings are only lubed under pressure. If there is no pressure, then there will be no oil being forced between the cam and the bearing.

@@sieve5 A very well balanced rotating assembly and a good damper. At 9k rpm you can build a ton of vibration.

Should have known about no oil pressure when you were reminding everyone that the vtech solenoid runs off of oil pressure and continuing to confirm the vtech solenoid was indeed good. Dry sump or upgrade from stock oil pump 🤷🏼♂️
Doesn't need a Dry Sump system. The need to replace the oil pump, put a decent balancer on it and then get a big red trailer light and screw it to the top of the dashboard and hook it up to a oil pressure sender. And one other thing is Stop banging it of the limiter when it's wheel spinning.

@@damon7890. Totally agree Mate. No oil pressure is the first thing I check when starting the car and leaving the pit lane at the track. I have a number of points on the track that I glance at the guage but I have a big idiot light on the dash to bring it to my attention just in case. I check my oil pressure guage 4 or 5 times a lap on a 1.8 mile road course. I don't know how he missed it at the track and on the Dyno. I don't no I probably a bit over the top but I have never had a engine let go from low oil pressure. Cheers 👍
I check oil pressure religiously. First thing I check before and after every pull.
Stovall's Garage it’s literally the most important thing in a engine. OIL lol
Put a "Tee" at the motor and wire the factory sender up too so you have your gauge and the factory oil light.
I’ve gone through 3 cranks in my h2b because of failing oil pumps. I feel your pain. I’m on another rebuild and finally threw an Ati damper on. Get yourself one before firing that bad boy up again!
We did this one too many times and finally got an oil pressure switch with a big a$$ red light that turned on when pressure dropped below 15psi.
Lol the whole time I’m watching this video I’m like, guys... vtec is run by oil pressure!! Lol the times/power your putting down, gotta make sure you have a good oiling system. Don’t know much about h series but try an external oiling system. Of course you know what the hell your doing, i don’t even know why I’m saying this cuz you guys know your shit but lesson learned fellas. But I agree, send the scored parts to the machine shop, throw some bearing in there, and change your oiling system. And you’ll get those times your looking for kyle. Also make sure the top end is ok! Idk how deep you got but check those cam lobs.
Need to pull cam caps and check to see if anything is wrong with cams being that it was ran with no oil pressure!!! Crank was sitting in oil head was dry!
The crank doesnt sit in oil its above it and the head had oil in it

Hmmmm pretty sure that puts oil level higher than factory but hey that's just me thinking how capacities and engines work. Not to mention he said head had oil in it at Texas if I'm not mistaken so which means it was getting starved of oil after that. Like I said wouldn't hurt to check but guess some people are just bearing slap it and send it

But if the YT people are right then since it has a windage tray and that from the factory the crank isnt suppose to touch oil that even if you had 13qts in then it be perfectly fine. toxic how simple minded people are to a opinion on what should be checked

I was taught when I started racing. Check oil pressure when you start up. Check oil and temp before and after burnout and when you pre stage. Also when I cross the line. Been doing it almost 20 years. It only takes a glance. Now it's second nature. I don't even think about it. I just do it. Good habit to get into. It's saved me a couple times on forgetting to turn on water pump or fan. Once I had no oil pressure but turned out to be thread tape in the gauge after a rebuild. Lol

I had an H23 that I threw into a Prelude years ago (junkyard motor) that had the crank broken right in half. Funny thing about it is that the engine still ran. It fractured right on the wide part of the crank weight so it was able to push the other half around. Made a hell of a racket though. Those H-series motors were unobtanium even back in the early 2000's so good luck getting another one if there's any block damage.
Time for an oil pressure warning light, bright as hell.
When you didn't have that plate that doesn't allows the engine to move, the motor mounts absorbed the vibrations. But after that engine being held in place, the vibrations broke the key on the oil pump

An OIL light with the stock 8psi switch is what you need to alert you. Gauges only work when your looking at them.
First thing you do when you start a car, truck, daily driver is check your gauges and oil pressure is definitely one I check every time, how could you not notice that, kind of hacky..... I'm kind of disappointed in the fact you had your engine telling you it was hating its life, staring you straight in the face. Instead of starting simple you wasted your time and engine. Pull it and rebuild it. Embarrassing lol
1100whp out of that B series CRX is gonna move, 1000whp on a B is impressive alone. Now we just need to see the MR2 line up with it!
B series been doing 1000whp for years, still some of the fastest civics out there.
It actually really common for b series to make over 1k the fastest civic (SpeedFactory) is a b and makes over 1300hp or something like that

Your oil pressure gauge install video shows a lack of an oil pressure switch (light). You have to either use an electric oil pressure gauge or make a tee with your mechanical gauge so that you can utilize the dummy light on the cluster. There’s a reason it came like that from the factory

Hey just a heads up from Australia if you mix dry ice with acetone / rubbing alcohol in a bucket wait until it’s super cold 2-3mins and then pour it on the sound deadner it comes off so much more easier. And the acetone / rubbing alcohol will evaporate really quick so no mess.

I run a freight transportation company, and i know how disheartening it is to have multiple engine issues at the same time. Vehicles stranded unnecessarily. Well, it happens man, and all we can do is to keep working and hope for better luck. My prayers with you and the whole team.
