In this video, I discuss the importance of face angle and how much it affects ball flight. I also discuss the critical rotation of the lead hand being in a neutral position wit the club face.
About the Single Plane Golf Swing
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane. - กีฬา
The "palm grip" from Natural Golf days definitely helped me correct some things back then. But the right lead hand grip is so much more powerful and effortless. These details and demonstrations are so helpful as I continue to refine my setup and positions in the golf swing.
Yess, love seeing instruction with club and ball data!
Being a data nerd, I love these last couple of vids. I’ve personally been fighting a closed face for a few months.. this helped me. Wasn’t grip, was the first 10 inches of backswing,,,
Awesome to see the data. Thank you!
You have the golf swing well under control!!! Makes it look easy!
So I play in a little indoor league that uses these same exact simulators. My path has always been in to out 4-6 degrees and the whole time I’m thinking I needed it to be 0 because that’s where I thought Moe was in order to hit it dead straight. So seeing this is encouraging to myself. Nice video
90mph is on a 7 iron should debunk those who say you have to lose speed with SPS!
What is your natural ball position. I am 86 years old. Love your instruction. Elton. .
i tried the "grip" on my left hand (righthanded golfer) - more neutral - less strong - thumb down the shaft - instead of being so strong ---- I gave it a fair try - it seemed awkward at first- because i have used such a strong grip for 30 years - but im hitting it longer with much better contact with your recommendation
Would love to have seen Moe on one of these simulators. Man that would be awesome. Granted, Todd’s swing is basically identical but regardless, to see what Moe’s numbers were would be fun to see.
Mike bender trains ZJ to go at his wedges 15/20 degrees from inside so the ball hooks when it lands
I'm really struggling with path and face. My path is right 5-6 degrees and my face is left 5-7 degrees. I'm lost on what change I need to make to fix this. I try to grip more neutral but then my strike is usually thin or clicky.
Hey Ben I’ve been teaching this for 25 years, there’s nothing I haven’t seen and fixed. But I need to see it to fix it. Would you consider joining my coaching program or you can send in videos of your swing motion to be analyzed if so, email me @toddg@gravesgolf.com.
I’m reading your statement and I’m trying to understand if this is not the most efficient and simplest way to swing the golf club then what’s your ideal swing model
It’s not my idea. It’s biophysics.
So in this video, you are taking your grip prior to stance and body tilt? Also, is your lead arm supination happening at impact without voluntary effort?
I’m demonstrating an improper grip - closed or open face. Also, yes the lead arm naturally ulnar deviates as body turns and arm is in flexion in downswing.
This was a great video
The sound needs to be increased. Its hard to hear your voice. On the swing at approximately 9:20 your right heel comes off the ground slightly before contact with the ball.
Call the golf swing police!
@@ToddGravesGolf LOL, mine does a little as well, though my right trail knee is observably diving in towards the lead heel, which is what we want and the results are amazing.

This is no longer the way to swing the club.
The human body has changed?
LOL... their are endless ways to swing the club, that's why pro's all have variations of the swing that they make work with their body. The single plane swing is one of the most simplistic ways to swing the club consistently vs trying to use a "conventional" swing which has a lot of variables that can change every time you play golf. Regardless, the most important thing is what happens at impact with club path and face.
