The difference between Druidry and Wicca, is that Wicca is based off of Druidry but carries different and new ideas that are historically different than Druidry. Most Druids honor a series of gods and goddesses, whereas Wicca sees all goddesses as one goddess combined and all gods as one god combined.
Although druidry has so little documentation left from the Roman invasion in Europe and that Druidry was a oral tradition. Also current druids are trying to write the wrongs of the ancient druids.

It's a symbol of the Old Celtic God Cernunnos..i.e. The Horned One...Like most of the Old Celtic Gods, he has 2 roles...death and ressurection...Bridgit, has 3 sides...Druidism is basically looking into yourself and Nature and seeing both sides of it..

Pagan spirituality is much more in us than the belief in a spiritual path brought in from the Middle East, regardless of which system that be.

I find it hard to connect with people on these subjects, especially those from my area (appalachia - I was raised in Georgia) because I was raised in a 'Pagan' household my entire life. My mother was a kitchen witch, step father a bard, and I started on my path in druidry when I was younger. I would love to meet and share with some like minded folk though =]

Some versions of Druidry like AODA, OBOD & RDNA welcome members of all religion to practice the pathway, as mentioned in the video, of working nature-awareness into other faiths. This is due to their fraternal origins (like Freemasonry) that are open to people of all faiths and creeds. As such, this genre of Druidry might appear less celtic/pagan focused than groups like ADF and reconstructionist groups.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for the parts between the people speaking it seems like there needs to be either some music or a narrative of some kind. If I knew more about druidism I would offer my voice to fill in those areas.

I'd love to give it a read GypsyKing! I am new to the path, and I'd really like to read! It would likely offer tremendous insight to my new knowledge on the Paths!

What is the role of the Eleggua statue that is shown with the "Horned God""statue?I was brought up to believe that unless properly prepared by a Babalawo or Santero it is considered empty and can in fact create problems ie psychic disturbances ,bad luck...Thanks for uploading .

I don't think you can accurately say Wicca is 'based off' Druidry. They have similar roots and that's all. Wiccan's see all goddesses as aspects of one being and likewise with the gods. This doesn't mean the individual nature of the gods is denied but they emanate from one Source, as do we all.

To Druids, all are equal... I know this is foreign to some, but it is true. Your Church is actually built with a military-class hierarchy due to its militant past. We have neither a militant past, nor the hierarchy

Rhal75. please don't take this as disrespectful. not meant with ill will or bad heart. but that sounds like some hippy trippy new age B.S. no one alive today knows squat abut druids. now get out there and commune with the forest sprits. they are there waiting.

The dragon symble has to do with what ancient celtic druid associated themselves with, prior to converting to Christianity. They called themselves dragons serpants or snakes depending on tranlation, and would not take it being derogatory.

Interesting video. I've been wondering about Druidry. When I ask about it,people always say its a Celtic polytheist religion. I've kinda skipped over it on my spiritual journey because I'm no where near a hard polytheist,

The man who created Wicca in the 20th century pulled inspiration from a variety of old religions. I apologize if I offend anyone with this comment, but the "Wicca" practiced today is not a legitimate religion. There is substantial evidence that its creator, Gerald Gardner, pulled inspiration from a variety of different old religions when he was putting together the modern Wicca. I wrote an entire essay on this subject for my Composition II final. If you would like to read it, I can send a link.

l have always thought of druidism as being very Celtic related, with its pagan spiritual roots being to the west of the British lsles, in lreland and Wales where even today they are the last strongholds of the Celtic race, The National Eisteddfod of Wales still holds Bards in great esteem with the arch Bard drawing the Grand Sword at the coming together or (Gorsedd) of the Bards. Long may it continue

I would suggest you do some more research GypsyKing and write a Composition III on the aspects of Christianity that have been taken from older religions. I'm a Druid, not a Wiccan, but I respect Gerald Gardener and what he helped to create.

What's being described there sounds more like the meso-Druidry of Druid Revival orders like the Ancient Order of Druids in America, the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids or the Reformed Druids of North America than the neo-druidism of orders like Ár nDraíocht Féin. (Also, the distinction between the -ry and -ism suffixes is important here.)

Well, it's about a lot of different things. It can be purely spiritual, and you revere nature itself, or you can also personify nature; i.e. Mother Nature, the Celtic gods and goddesses, etc. You can then choose whether to simply spend time in nature and perhaps make little altars or shrines like the one in this video, or get more into a ritualistic practice. Wicca is very ritual- oriented, for example. Myself, I prefer simple altars to nature deities.

GypsyKing0021 - (gosh, is it really 9 months ago I wrote that?) As a Wiccan, of course I've done my own research of Gardner's basis for his reconstruction of Wicca. Yes he did draw on a variety of sources because he didn't have a huge amount to work with. Anyone trying to recapture British spirituality (including Druids) has to work around the efficient destruction wrought by the Church. It's very difficult to prove or disprove his claims but there were other witches around at the time so I don't think you can say he invented Wicca, any more than you can say Edward Williams invented Druidry. As for what constitutes a 'legitimate' religion; who's making the laws here anyway? All religions are ultimately born in the human imagination so it's a bit ridiculous to claim that one has more credence than another.

  • @RavenMfknVisigoth

As they did me. My mother's still a bit bitter that I have found happiness in being Pagan. She thinks I'm being misguided by "extra, unneeded gods."

  • @wolfcrow4822
    @wolfcrow4822 11 ปีที่แล้ว

I would say that what makes a religion legitimate is what its followers get from it. All religions tend to have a hokey start if you dig deep enough. Judaism draws from Egyptian and Canaanite religion. Islam is a similar synthesis. Druidry was cobbled from the few stories handed down to us and a lot of romantic notions. So what, it works.

Prescribed by Sensei - a Tao Dynasty Story - On Provincial Governing in the East and West (Chuang Tzu)
Thats kensington.. its a wierd area lol
But idunno I dont wanna fight it, its just another religion.. my friends were maybe racist..
they had datura and they had burning crosses..
They could just be jewish druids against missionaries and hurting indigenous culture.. they worshipped pagan deities and set it up in an egyptian style.
We fought the ghosts from the pyramids that tried to attack us...
We used the mushrooms... I healed my friend from perversions about his mother... I was a faith healer then. This guy was connected to Cybele... by changing the bad stuff sex with mother and self wounding I pleased the goddess..
It was just very symbolic. Because I did that construction stopped. We were decked out like dungeons and dragons..
Dana came forth as a horse of wood then
carl jung assured the gold is near.. it was just an elaborate test.. in the deep moon.
I filled the home with the pagan ways.. and they restored.
The videos on matriarchy had peaceful images again.
Oluodream... allow this dream... the real estate agents kept working on their signs just as I walked by and people in the markets talked about moving in. I was a jew, a shepherd, in the stonehenge mandala, And I told people, don't move here, most to west virginia! Learn the nations history the real way. Walk the appalachian.
And that was that. I was a local governor over neighborhood as was my brother in craft dmitri.. we were set up like chuang tzu. In feng shui tradition. A dark style and light style.
I controlled it, I said no one could built here or move in. The homeowners association agreed, we got our druid gear and did some rituals and kept out the bad spirits.
Our power was incredible. We were as Athenian forums. This chuang tzu indeed was no use, we didnt want him, and we plotted to get him out of our hair for good. But chuang tzu walked among us, undermining the government, turning it to his own advantage.. Chuang tzu caused the city to expand and its raves to pump out the youth with a new life rhythm.. but did it mean the forest grew elsewhere?
Our provinces fell into disrepair and though still wealthy we had lost the glow of the land.. but one day.. one fateful day we found something.. a golden egg.. and from it hatched a small dragon..
This dragon we raised and as it grew it took care of the provinces keeping justice and cleaning them without much violence.. we named that dragon Nick.
As the dragon grew it brought more of the forest back in the area.. a restoration we thought impossible.. and then we thanked Chuang Tzu.. who at first seemed to curse us.. at least the scoundrel had not harmed the earth and had given us longevity..
A classic hero trickster figure.. we sponsored Chuang tzu as a shrine figure then.. and set aside a park..
The dragon let us rave but also live the quiet life. The dragon kept justice and freedom american.
As pronvincial governors we succeeded. We tripped many times and the people were never oppressed. such is tao
*story crafted mostly by Feng Shui least so by myself*

Its such a shame the tradition itself is called Druidry and the practitioners call themselves Druids...there is something of an immediate self aggrandisement with the language. Like joining the army and from day one calling yourself a General. Its almost embarrassing to see someone with very little experience calling them self a Druid, throwing that word around, undermining its meaning. I think back on myself, Oh little pig, what was I thinking?)...In my experience it became more uncomfortable calling myself a Druid, as if I realised I had indulged the ego immensely by attaching myself to the title. I totally get what people believe in and what influences them but having followed the tradition for 30 years now I no longer call myself a Druid and when I consider everyone else I've met, having been a teacher of the tradition, would not recognise anyone I've met as a Druid...No offence but there are no Druids today, its too far a stretch of the imagination and an abuse of the word. Nevertheless it is a remarkably beautiful, mind expanding, life transformative tradition, I completely understand the intoxication but the self describing language is hubris...lacking in humility...THEFT...
