If people doubt the acting required to make the characters come alive in the show, they should really see these live readings. Here the talent is so obvious. No animation, no music, nothing. Just the actors, and they still manage to make it so honest and real.
Each character being an extension of the actor. MEL BLANC's son marveled at the depth of his father's physical and facial mannerisms, that he saw in person, and captured by the cartoonist. Same situation here, decades later. We FREAK and giggle with the glee of children when we see this grown-up , instead of the cartoon character! We realize that this person IS THE CHARACTER!

The way Harry does the "what do you think of today's popular music scene?" line and the way he looks at Yeardley is absolute gold. He's 100% into the character.
When Al Jean reads the stage direction it really makes you realize how incredible the writing really is... I thank God everyday for the Simpsons... The greatest show ever.... and now that they've been on TV for so long and broken all these record it just goes to show you.
This is why the simpsons sitcom animation is the best in the whole universe. Best voice-over actress who did the stunning job as they always does, funny and witty script/story/plot, simple but very creative, et cetera. The simpsons sitcom have a unique and interesting/intriguing style of conveying the story of it's own terms. I wish this sitcom keeps maintain it's position and never end just like other sitcom. This is simply the best U.S sitcom ever made. Thanks to matt groening who directed and created this whole episode (well it's just an assumption so don't judge) and the other department who brought simpsons family back to life. Thanks for the hard work and their devotion including lisa, mr.burns, homer, bart, smithers, marge, moe, dr.hibbert, maggie, ned and his wife, lovejoy and his wife, chief wiggum and his goons, the trio bullies, milhouse, and many other voice actress. Once again, thank you. This sitcom means a lot to me.

The whole premise of Marge dropping Lisa off to meet with Mr Burns and telling her she’ll pick her up at a certain time is genius comedy. And Burns accepting that as a reality he has to allow for. The writers of this show are so insanely talented 😂😂😂

Delightful. Makes me think: it would be fantastic to see a video recording of just one table read of the show, clearly and smoothly recorded, with professional editing done to it. The only Simpsons live read video I've tried watching was dreadful-- basically someone holding her/his phone up at a big TV screen that seems about 20 feet away (and there were people milling around in the room, their silhouettes very distracting).
I guess Mr. Burns didn't know that Lisa is good at playing instruments, like her saxophone. The voice actors who did them are very good, since they have great talent.

The first time I saw Al Jean I was suprised. I knew what his voice sounded like from the DVD audio commentaries. So I always pictured a guy who looked like The Simpsons character Professor Frink.

I have this episode on one of the seasons I have of this awesome beloved show. And I love and truly adore Harry Shearer. He is the real Mr. Burns. They are truly Excellent. Mr. Burns is so amazing. His badness turns me on. Grrrrrr.
