Hey this is super cool! I hope you don't take this as offensive, but I love the irony of being a blind hunter too (the marksman of wow), I definitely got a chuckle out of it.
Yeah, that is actually really funny! I have bought it that myself. Hunters or range characters seem to be what I prefer being visually impaired but we have Malay visually impaired, and blind players as well. As long as I can, focus target or tab target my aim is still pretty darn good lol!
Very interesting video. I have a question though, if you don't mind. I don't mean to come across as rude or anything, but visuals of a game are a big part of why I enjoy playing. What is it for you that keeps you playing wow when a lot of the visual aspect of it is gone? Is it the questing? Sense of progression? Community? Are you able to play other games too, or is it just wow that you focus on? This is actually super interesting. Shame that I haven't found your channel sooner. Subbed.
Hello! It’s all of the above, there is a very large grouping of audio only games that visually impaired and blind play that are designed from the ground up as audio only. So there is the desire to still be able to accomplish an adventure, whether or not it’s via audio or visual. World of Warcraft is unique in that it was not designed for this, but instead, a very nice group of people created the software making it possible. We do play other games though like Diablo four has built-in from blizzard access accessibility options to help low vision and blind people play. Stardew Valley is another very popular one for the visually impaired. For me I played World of Warcraft when I still had vision so I am still in my mind‘s eye seeing these places all over again as I saw them before in my memories. So that makes it fun, but we also have blind people from birth that play World of Warcraft as the adventure is so rewarding. It is worth learning how to maneuver in the dark :-) thanks for your question!
I wonder, I am pretty sure that using a pure depth shader with enemies in red, neutrals in yellow and friendlies in green would actually probably make this game more parsable for the visually impaired. Alternatively, if the shades of gray are too dim to read, might be interesting to try a pure solid color material set and try to use very disparate colors.
Actually I went and checked and this is exactly what the last of us 2 did for their visually impaired system. It's actually semi-achievable in WoW I think, though it would take some work, but a combination of addon with the use of reshader might result in something somewhat similar to it.
Thank you for that! Graphically wow is beautiful but that also means it is very complex which does not help people with low vision. Try to get their bearings. A much simpler graphics design as far as shades and colors go would make a huge difference. There are actually some zones That I personally can see better than others like for some reason. That would be a massive undertaking and will not happen but future game designers could potentially design a game that you could decide between simple shading with high contrast and the big beautiful scenes. They are able to create now. It would not be as pretty for sure, but playability might be increased for the visually impaired. Otherwise, for the completely blind, we will need audio cues, of course

Do you still play sod?
Kind of but really enjoying anniversary at the moment. Waiting for new content on SOD and fingers crossed then announce burning crusades, but I’m thinking that’s not gonna happen so at this point I’m gonna stick with the anniversary but not throwing away SOD by any means.
