    Hi,
    I think a lot of people said it already but here's my theory:
    The vents were seeled for the proccess of mommification, which needs a dry place, lack of oxygen and hot temperature. Once the mommification completed, than they could open the vents, to keep it cooler for the conservation of the body in the long term. That would also allow people to visit their king/queen in a better environment.
    I don't know if it is how it would work, I don't know the details of the entire process. But here's what I think!
    Nice video Wirtual, thank you for sharing the subject!

    As it was sealed, many times they are just objects that eventually fell into the hole due to construction, and as they were never opened they remained there.
    With the conclusion that the queen chamber was not finished, and thinking that it is centered on the pyramid while the king chamber is not.
    They may have planned to go from the queen chamber to being the king chamber, but for some reason, they decided to abandon the work and remake the king's room in another location.

    I believe that the ventilation for workers is not a bad hypothesis. Workers on the pyramid in ancient Egypt were not slaves as is commonly taught they were respected members of the society and even were allowed to be buried next to the pyramids which common folk were not. With so many of them working underground I think it would have been only possible to work with ventilation otherwise death from heat stroke would have occurred. As with that one section with the sweaty guy shows just existing down there is enough to get someone to sweat let alone 30+ builders working at once. Even use of the ventilation shafts as cooling for when the pharaoh would have inspected could be the case or for when the funeral procession took place the leaders of the society didn’t want to be cooked for what could be days of preparation (idk how Egyptian pharaoh tombing went).

      But hardly anyone is actually working underground as it's built layer by layer, but maybe necessary if there is internal decoration and ornaments to be laid in afterwards and those were probably higher class workers/priests.

    1:52:40 keep in mind, they’re not digging these tunnels. They’re placing blocks, layer by layer, with grooves cut out of the rock to eventually slot into a tunnel.
    There’s a hundred reasons why it might be easier to not make the path straight. The nature of the rock, the joints in the path, the other construction going around on the current layer.
    No one cares about the inner parts of the tunnel, so the workers did whatever was most convenient.

    I think the items were most probably dropped. The other channels were already open, probably people already took them away. But you have to imagine that if you go back to that time in your mind - it's a VERY busy construction site. And you are threatened with death for errors. So, would you tell anyone that you dropped a little piece of wood down there from transport or for aid for some small thing? Or a ball that helped to move some heavy stone blocks around? Or the hooks to open one of these panels that were continously moved during the construction to keep the channels unobstructed?
    I can see all the three occasions very clearly, where something like this would have happened. And the lost items were not told to anyone, and even then, the wall wouldn't be opened ahead of schedule. These are actually very connective artefacts to me. I can imagine the feel, the environment and the situation of the worker that did this. And also how they felt. Now that we know the complete story, with the panels being moved to construct them especially, those meaningless artifacts suddenly gain meaning and purpose and show us, how it was like when the pyramids were built.

    I think the ventilation could be there to prevent the kings chamber or rather the objects within including the pharaos mummie from moulding. It was said, that it was quite humid and hot inside, which definately arent the best conditions. With the venzilation humidity and temperature dropped dramatically.

  • @mikeuuuytffvghjjoopoiytf
    @mikeuuuytffvghjjoopoiytf 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Maybe the channels were built bendy to prevent things being dropped down into the chamber whilst allowing ventilation (or also to prevent light from reaching the chamber).
    Or maybe they were bendy to avoid other structures in the pyramid, just like how our plumbing bends to navigate around houses.

    my thought is that the air is for the people who come to visit the pharohs grave. Like he said in the video, slaves were not givin the privalege of air condition, but other Pharaohs and important priests who come to the grave will. So they put in the air condition so that later Pharaohs and other people dont suffer while like praying and stuff at the grave of the pharaoh. If i remember correctly the pyramid wasnt seeled straight away after they put the mummy in there. So like maybe for a death ritual in the pyramid were royalty came they needed to be the inside of the chambers as comfortable as possible.

    Just from first impressions,I wonder if SP Big Void is structural in nature. Like, say you have your Grand Gallery but you build it with the purpose of people walking through rather than supporting tons and tons of rock above it, perhaps the builders created a fake ceiling and then placed the structural supports to make sure the Gallery didn't cave in above them.

    Them 'air vents' instantly made me think about what light source was available....no gas lanterns, they where burning oil soaked fabrics....you learn pretty quick what that does in inclosed spaces with no airflow.
    It seems obvious to me that they where created to allow work to be done (with light) and not have your workers die of co2 poisoning or w/e

    Just going off of how I would think to do it. Id make a big square. Measure the hight, and a distance away from a side. Whatever distance you want. Lets say height 20 ft, and distance 20 feet.
    On top of first square, build another 20 ft tall and 20 feet in from all sides. Continue untill you cant anymore. You now basically have a square wedding cake. Building most of the interior as you go up.
    Build out to complete the triangle. Blocks on the end, if 10 inches tall lets say. Do the ratio 10/240 = x/240 you get 10. So go 10 inches along the block, cut back to edge and you have the same angle as your square. in this example.
    With this square cake its easy to build a ramp up. Since everything on the top layer will rest on the square beneath. You can start at the top section and build down. Start at the center square walls and move out. Wouldnt even need a second method to ramp up again.
    Perhaps the angular shape wasnt just to slide in from up top. But to wedge something in to help place blocks. And if you were to place a block in front of the hole, on the next layer towards the edge. and use a lever to flip it into place, its gonna rise. With the blocks shape as a trapezoid the higher it gets the easier it is to get it in the hole and fall to fit.
    Square has to be perfect, its angle shape allows a little left and right movement when flipping it into place. They were probably the hardest blocks to place, so they made it as easy as possible to fit them.
    But im pretty sure you could do it with 1 ramp even the nice anglular outer peice with this method. Idk if it is a method already thought of, but thats how I would try to do it.

    • @harshmoor2280
      @harshmoor2280 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These people invented measure twice, cut once. They probably dug first. Perhaps it was something entirely different until they decided to build a pyramid on top.
      As yes, they were paid with life to work on the pyramids. Yeah, the people overwatching the slaves were probably paid Egyptians. But like you said, everyone had slaves. Whether it was other people or their own.

    Ventilation for the Pharaohs body so it wouldn't get damaged by moisture? Queens chamber just being a false or early building if the Pharaoh died early. It would explain why the vents doesn't go to the outside, they probably started serious work on the main chamber and simply stopped work on the backup chamber, leading them to block it up and build over it.

    Imagine the Pyramids were build layer by layer, the the workers/slaves could have also carved out the tunnels and airholes, layer by layer. That would take out the problem of carving it out later and then, having no Oxygen due to torches. If the chambers were filled with sand to hold up the sealing, that would explain why holes like the Airholes or the entrance of the queenchamber were not opened beforehand and therefore opened afterwards. That would explain why the queenchamber entrance has also a ledge. The holes were opened to give the worker air to work, i can’t imagine how the other pyramidchambers were build, unless many dead workers was the consequence. A room finished, the Airholes could be closed by the most outer layers, as the queenchamber is. The kingschamber’s airholes were maybe needed, for later purposes aswell and not just for the workers. I don’t know enough on how they build the Pyramids, but if it was layer by layer, this would explain how workers could survive there.

  • @AlexBrogan96
    @AlexBrogan96 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The queen’s chamber shafts being unfinished and plugged when discovered actually makes a lot of sense now. They decided to abandon the queen’s chamber, built over the ends of the shafts as they continued building, and never unplugged the openings in the chamber since the chamber was never finished or used. I’m going to assume they needed air flow for some burial ceremony (potentially involving fire so they needed lots of oxygen) or even just to allow the important rich folks who were in charge of the burial to have fresh air, hence the King’s chamber’s shafts being exposed and unplugged.
    Also, the slab with the copper handles could very well be a temporary plug to stop rain and debris as it was described and when they built over the shaft after abandoning the queen’s chamber the workers on that side of the pyramid just left the slab in for whatever reason.

    • @RowOfMushyTiT
      @RowOfMushyTiT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's probably that they planned a smaller pyramid where the queens chamber was in the middle and the shafts did reach the exterior, then they upscaled the design. So they had to add the grand gallery to haul blocks up and which blocks the queens chamber. I don't think they were even trying to hide it from robbers, but rather hide it as an imperfection.

    the air vents were for us, and the queens chambers' vents were not finished because it was decided in the middle of construction that they were not needed

    Okay I don't know much about the pyramid, but What If the shafts are for ventilation but they weren't just made for air and meant for smoke like a place to let a small fire candle to give light. (the video might have said this already I left at 1:41:32)

    I think the pharaoh believed he would far outlive the construction of the pyramids and wanted to go inside the chambers. Maybe he included the air channels purely for his own comfort in the time leading up to his death. I dont think its crazy to believe a pharaoh would include such a massive detail for a "just incase i want to go in there it cant be hot and muggy". The queens chamber and channels might have been left unfinished if she died during construction. They could have buried her and sealed the chamber in a rush if that were the case. At that point, they would have just left the blocks with the copper pins in the channels where they were, as there would be no point to continue the air channels. That might explain why the finishing touches had been started, but strangely not finished. The one outside corner on the wall of the chamber, and, only the first few cm of the air channel opening.

    Here's a layman's theory:
    Symmetry and accuracy would be standard construction knowledge, but could the queen's chamber be a blueprint or a trial run for the unique features of the king's? Either A, you only get one shot at getting the king's chamber perfect and it is the most important room, taking the time to build the queen's so you don't run into unforeseen consequences would be insurance. Once it's in a condition where the work to completely finish it is technologically trivial, you can leave it, confident you have a working blueprint.
    Or B, it's an actual blueprint, to show future generations in which order and how it was built. An architect and a builder are different professions, how things work in theory isn't the same as which order you have to build, if you're a stonemason at the time you could see oh, it's a smart move to leave the final corner uncut in case you accidentally bump it, and whatnot. This one seems less likely as I don't see why you'd leave a grave unsealed for a generation or two so people can examine the techniques and only seal it up later.

    I assume what he is getting at is that the chambers were constructed in the same way that the outside of the pyramid was constructed. Nicest stones are placed where they are most visible. So basically the Queens chamber was built first by leaving a larger empty space in the pyramid, then to finish of the interior and make it look all pretty, they put nice finishing stones on the interior walls and once the pretty walls were in place they would have cut holes where the airways were to finalize the room. thats also why they wanted to square off the ends of the hole so it looked nicer. As for what the airways are for, i think its to let the body of Pharaoh to dry up instead of turning into a gooey mess due to high humidity and heat.

      @Nitidus 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From how I understand it, the humidity we saw in those chambers in the past came solely from tourist's perspiration. Also I don't know how much a bit of humidity would have affected a pharaoh who's lying in his sealed sarcophagus, embalmed.

    The air tunnels turning could be a strong evidence that there was something in the way. Like the unknown void over the Grand Gallery.

    My guess is that the air was needed to keep moisture low and preserve the pharaoh longer

    I believe the air shafts were there to prevent humidity and mold to form. to preserve the place the best as possible.

    What if they buried the queen first (while the pyramid was still being built) and had whatever ritual that needed air before adding more to the sides and building over the air vents that were no longer needed?

    About the wood. As you said ,carbon dating isn't perfect but it's pretty accurate until ~50000 years. 500 years isn't very long in the grand scheme of things 4600 years or 5000 years might as well be the same. Some claime they are 11000 years old tho. Guess that's been debunked

      I also think the off centerness of the chamber helps with airflow by creating a difference in pressure between the sides cause the air to flow in one side and out the other

    If the Queens Chamber was supposed to be a decoy, which I find most probable. It makes sense that the shafts weren't finished. I think as thieves would enter, they would see the the shaft, thinking its for ventilation, and walk inside. Only to get trapped by a huge block, blocking the entrance and suffocating them. This also ties in with the theory that the shafts remained sealed during construction and that the chamber was unfinished. The Queens Chamber was finished and the shafts were never meant to reach all the way to the outside.

    • @RowOfMushyTiT
      @RowOfMushyTiT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The queens chamber was probably the original burial chamber in a smaller designed pyramid, where the shafts did extend outwards. Then they decided to make the pyramid even bigger probably mid construction as I doubt they would have the casing stones on the smaller pyramid yet.

    It makes sense that ventilation shafts are not useful for workers that are standing outside as they build it under their feet. So turns out it was always meant to be used by tourists or at least to pay respect lol. It would be hilarious if they added bent to the shaft so people wouldn't be scared of looking into an infinite abyss but instead gave an incentive to dig because they expected an abyss.
