Actually I found the 2002 series better than the original it was going to introduce Adam's sister then cancelled. I had most of the original figures as well.
At the end of the episodes, there would be a 2 minute recap of a lesson for the episode. One of these episodes' lessons was that sometimes, grown ups could touch children in ways they don't feel comfortable with; it wasn't their fault and it was important to tell someone that they trust that this was happening.... another family member, a teacher or a neighbor. That episode saved a lot of lives. You can mock the old series as being corny if you want, but it was for kids. I'd was speaking to kids. And it was extremely important to those kids. It was about good and evil, not nihilistic sarcasm.
Agreeded. That was one of the heavier but necessary messages. It seems like now they might be purely pushing “girl power” and “men suck”. If that’s your message fine , but don’t taint a classic this was abhorrent.
@@qb9937 naw pushing "girl power" while "men suck" isnt fine. It would be if their wasnt a double standard but they since they wanna be hypocrites they can take their feminazi bullshit message and shove it.
Go find the message in the final episode. It's about the difference between pretending and lying and how lying is wrong and can get you in trouble. *cough* Kevin Smith
I totally agree! Filmation cartoon series were ALL like that and it was a great concept to have lessons for kids. The moral of the story... Just great! Maybe the producers of this reboot crap think that those fans from back then are nihilistic and sarcastic as well. Its beyond disrespectful to treat fans like that.
@@Nobody-Nowhere I know that back then as a kid growing up , i alway thought that the og mini comics the first 14. and the og DC comics run was much better in tone action wise , then 80s show .
Would have been nice if Smith actually watched the original. He said one of the writers for the he-man comics was his go to person on the project. I really don't want to know what that person has done to the characters in the comics.
I wanted to like this so bad. I was a nineties kid but spiritually like most of my classmates during elementary, I was an eighties kid. Like most little girls, I flocked more towards She Ra in some things but overall, I loved both shows. They were great at world building, creating really good and alluring places that offered so many possibilities. The cheesiness is what made it better because it made it enjoyable for its target audience (aka kids) and also ensured that it would remain nostalgic as they grew up. I like classic Teela, and 2002 Teela but this Teela is a condescending whiny b****. If anything, Adam's nobility and humility proves why he's a hero and deserved his title while Teela just acts like an entitled mean girl. I liked Evil Lyn, Andra, Adam, Orco and even Skeletor way more than her. Because of what you pointed out and the aforementioned mean girl Teela, I couldn't like it. The animation is good but that'll be the only strong point going for it.
We all should have know the woke train and hollywood snobyness would come for He-man after they butchered She-Ra a few years ago. What boggles my mind is that you can make anything you want with these universes, and theres nothing wrong with changing up the story a little (like what they did with the 2002 reboot) but dont act like you (Kevin Smith) know what He-man fans want when you (clealry) never watched any of the original
But Teela wasn't really a mean girl - she was in a state of hurt and alienation. Furthermore, the story gave her a chance to evolve into a better person, who becomes the next Sorceress of Grayskull, which is a pretty important and fundamental role in the MOTU story universe. I liked the story overall, and found it interesting with good emotional depth. So I can't join the hate-wagon to dislike this show.
THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING US!!!!🙏 I hate those a-holes that keep telling us to “grow up”! This is actually a legitimate criticism and a rational reason for being angry and disappointed!!! 😡🤬
this is why i hate revised reimagining's i get that these are woke times but this show did not come from woke times!!!!! Its like Terminator The Dark Fate all over again cashing in on a fan base classic only to completely remove the foundation story line which built it Adam/He-man is the defender of the universe Tyeela was to one day take the place of the Sorceress Greyskulll that was how it was always to be I AM SO TIERD EVRYONE THINK SHOCK VALUE IS A GOOD THING!!!!
"You simply don't take one of the favorite heroes of a generation and turn him into a loser". Luke Skywalker has entered the chat These "creators" fail to realize that strong female characters and strong male characters can coexist. Red Sonja ring a bell? Edit: Old He-man and She-ra exists
Exactly what about the male characters in the show did you not find strong? He-Man knowingly sacrificing himself to save everyone else in the first episode? Orko sacrificing himself to allow others to continue their mission? Prince Adam giving up the promises of paradise to return to Eternia to save the lives of it's inhabitants? Man-at-Arms literally showing up out of nowhere to save his daughter's ass? We must have watched different versions of the show.
I liked him better as a comedian. His attempt at doing epic, dramatic cartoons rife with action is very flimsy. At least, in terms of Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the voice casting is star-studded and the animation is fricking awesome. Shame, though, because I am really torn with this recent incarnation.
1. You can't really talk much about the show without spoiling the twist at the end of episode 1 - He-Man's sacrifice. 2. The trailer focused on He-Man and the battle of episode 1, again because otherwise it would spoil the twist. 3. He-Man did have other cameos via flashbacks and Adam at least does return in the last episode with the potential to fully return in Part 2 - you kinda have to wait to see how it ends. 4. THIS show is not called "HE-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Revelations" So for the show to focus on OTHER characters not He-Man makes sense. 5. Oh you don't like it? well thats your right. So you can slink back to your basements alongside the OG Star Wars "FANS" and watch the old show through your tears because "they raped my childhood" Not liking something new doesn't destroy the old - or if it does then you have way BIGGER issues you need to deal with.
i hope netflix cancel this series.... MOTU needs a real reboot with all the good material from de comics. this series was made for the cristal generation and some groups of people... NOT FOR THE FANS...
Negative reviews --they don't care. Loses money -- they don't care Tanks their shares value -- they don't care One really has to wonder what all these companies are being promised in the future, if they're ready and willing to almost bankrupt themselves for this ideological cause..
They dont care, its gonna make money whether people hate it or not. Studios arent interested in mass appeal, theyre interested in catering to their woke audience. And when the show/movie is shat on, then they go cry racism/sexism lol
Kevin Smith said that the people in Netflix didnt care and pretty much think all the backlash doesnt matter. His words pretty much. He ways worried at the beginning and was asking them how bad it was and they said its just a few thousand people, we got million of subscribers. It also seems like the people at Mattel everyone the ones who write some of the comics were completely okay with him doing this shit. So yeah pretty he can do it because nobody cares about anything but pushing their agenda.
...Everything you cited actually make Adam look like a friggin' saint, a God and a hero...wth, Dude? Adam sacrifices his life to save existence = HELLA EPIC HEROIC. Eternia is in the shit just by his absences = Literal Force of Nature Chooses to stay in his LESSER FORM = TALKS HEAPS OF HIS CHARACTER AND HOW MUCH GOOD HE HAS IN HIMSELF. Goes back to Eternia, knowing his place in Heaven is no longer assured = A PRACTICAL SAINT You got an agenda, bro. All I saw was Teela can't ever replace He-Man cause his presence alone kept Eternia in balance and harmony...Without him, it turned to a shithole. You ask me, this story is classic and old...Rejoin the fucking Osiris pieces to bring him back from the dead to defeat SET, etc....old and cliche...The twists were expected but they executed it wonderfully...You are prissy cause you didn't get to see He-Man hurl a friggin' mountain at Skeletor. Brada, maybe you should open you eyes and realize...they turned He-Man synonymous to a GOD or MESSIAH...Without him, shit can't even be fixed. Skeletor is now SKELEGOD, You think Teela or they others can beat him? What she gonna go, run over to the next show and call She-Ra in her weird animation to help? It's gonna cycle back to ADAM...it would have to cause again...TEELA is just the new MAN-AT-ARMS...that's her new role...People wanting deeply for LGBTQ undertones are pushing narrative on an unspoken. Let em kiss then tell us "i told you so" but before then, there isn't much. Unless you consider EVERY SAME SEX CAMADERIE as LGBTQ undertones. The show is doing alright, it even brought back the ultimate bad guy cause I was getting bored with Triclops and his shitty cult...atleast the ultimate villain is back and he gets to show people the level of fucking up everything for everyone that only He-Man could stop. Without He-Man yet, we got a massively fucked Eternia.
I watched this show and saw no sjw undertones and he man comes back in season two kevin smith said so and this season is about bringing magic back first and that’s what’s happening
Choosing to stay in a lesser form when you can take a greater form to be of greater help is stupid you are a moron if you would genuinely take being say a ballerina over being Arnold Schwarzenegger if you were about to go into a weightlifting competition
The critics wouldn't have reacted this way if all 10 episodes had been released together, because the later 5 have plenty of Adam & He-man in them. I actually liked how sparingly they used He-Man in this series, because then during those times he did appear it felt like a treat. The final episode showed He-Man kicking ass with an epicness we've never ever seen before.
There were fun easter eggs but that doesn't make a good series. Easter eggs are the icing on the cake. If the cake is foul then the icing won't make much difference. Teela was so unlikable when she had a hissy fit after Adams died and his parents are mourning. The new outfits are all drab and bland compared to the more detailed and colorful originals. Most of the cast is wasted. Characters only tend to get a moment so that it makes their death a few scenes later more impactful. As beautiful as the animationw as, Grayskull and Snake Mountain looked like cheap cardboard cut outs pasted into the background. I'm not outraged by the show, just found it meh. It had potential but wasted it.
It's disgusting how those behind this show and the show runners lied and baited fans of this iconic series. I don't care what generation any of us are from; we should never tolerate being lied to or being deceived by anyone.
The show runners did not lie to you. Netflix and Mattel are behind the marketing campaign. They also decided to split the 10 episodes given to them into 2 parts, hoping to up their subscribers like they did with "Lucifer." It backfired on them. Smith was ALWAYS upfront on the sbow. If you must be pissed at someone, be pissed at the right people.
@@micheledeetlefs6041 Good point. it's Netflix and Mattel who pay the show runners what to do or say. As the saying goes, a fish stinks from the head. I don't know about KS always being upfront with the show, given the controversy between him and Clownfish TV.

@@RandoLePerson Kong was never the enemy to Godzilla. Godzilla was hunting the humans the entire time, since they were still using Ghidorah tech from the previous film. Hopefully in the next Godzilla, we get him going Full Magneto.
This could have been the set up of a great new direction of the series: you could keep all the Teela stuff, He-Man dying in the first episode, and loss of magic. The quest to bring back magic and Adam is the focus. Then the Preternia episode: lose ALL the bullying. And Adam seems a lot more focused and quite capable. And he seems a little almost sinister at times. But he goes with them to fix everything. And when they reforge the sword, it's revealed that Skeletor didn't hitch a ride in Evil Lynn's staff; He pulled reverse Voldemort and his soul merged with Adam's in Preternia. And when Adam calls the Power, he becomes either Cosmic Skeletor or some kinda horrible He-Man/Skeletor hybrid, and declares he will destroy anything that stands in his way! Season 2 will be a quest to stop Skel-man, who is mad kinging it up. The tech cult ends up having to work with both the Heroes and the Villains, since Adamtor is on his own now, finding he kinda hates his followers.
Watching Marvelous Videos breakdown of this is much better than watching the actual show. What an embarrassing disappointment this show turned out to be
@@RandoLePerson Yep, Smith is a total sellout and all these big studios want to do is roll out woke nonsense .... Honestly nothing surprises me anymore.... Every remake or reboot or sequel/prequel they come out with is going to be bunk
Part 2: Years have passed and teela and andra have had a baby girl through magical insemination, her name is Dani Ramos and she will lead the rebellion against the patriarchy of the universe.
Heres the thing, I dont hate the "killing of He-Man" and adam sacrficing himself to finally end skeletor once and for all. Its the fact that smith didnt do that as a plot point (well he did, but not for "plot") he did it so he could make Teela (or "Teeman" because thats clealry a dude with a womans voice🙄) , the main character (after lying that he wasnt doing that). If he clearly cared, he could have done this plot and shown (a more traditional, and not woke teela) desperately and frantically searching for something, anything, that could bring Adam back. Hes somewhat doing that, but it doesnt feel "genuine". What irritates me too is he Smith lied about Orko (he claimed no one likes Orko, thats just a lie) and killed him off in order to "make fans mad". Even though Orko would have played such a role. Oh and for the love of god, hire someone other than Mark Hamil for Skeletor. The man is a legend, we all know that, but Skeletor sounds, talks (mannerisms), and acts like Joker not skeletor. There is someone who can mimic the original actors voice out there, we all know it. I gues what really saddens me the most is that netflix, and hollywoodesk people like Smith have ruined another franchise by telling fans what they want, and clealry denying any concerns, oh then lying about what they did and spitting in the face of the fandom. Theres nothing wrong with leaving fans awestruck and dumbfounded, and "making them mad" but do it with the intent to create a fantastic story that fans will remember (like that original He man episode "the problem with power, go watch it) thats shows characters at their lowest and shakes up the norm, but still makes fans happy.
4 mins in I'm thinking, this looks really good. Keeps watching, ah, I see. Great vid, thanks for saving me from watching this, I surely would of and been pissed.
This is one messed up series. You don't treat your main character like trash and expect it to turn out all right. If they wanted Teela to become the next Hero, then they should have called it Master of the Universe: Teela Saga or something along those lines. The comic crossover with DC did the Darker and Edger better. It makes me want to watch She-Ra and the Princesses of Power for a third time and forget this Animated Fanfiction by Kevin Smith.
She’s not the hero though, it was He-man who sacrificed his life for all of them. She was just trying to make due from the loss of He-Man and that’s woke? When Superman did the same thing and Lois was making due and trying to bring him back I guess now thats considered woke?
@@Imozart0341I As I said, if they wanted to make Teela the Heroine they should have been clear about it, instead of having a failed journey under He-Man's name.
last night ..i had the worst dream ..i think i know how this Series will end Teela will be the new Scorceress Andra will be He-man and then we will see the King and queen of Eternia ..holding a little baby girl they will call Adora ((she-ra))
If these people weren't so creatively broke, they would create their own characters to push their agendas, not farm and destroy great creations from the past. This is a double sword for me, the injustice done to He-Man, and the depletion of any respect I had left for Kevin. I always liked Smiths movies, always felt like he had something to say and always found a way to get his point across with out blunt force trauma. Guess they're both gone now.
Has anyone noticed that they're hinting that Adam is really gay? Hence his father bashing him for being weak and also the reason why he chose to stay as Adam in preternia... His "true" form. More than likely part 2 will see him survive, but pass the sword on to Teela, because his wish is to stay as Adam where Teelas "destiny" is to become She-Man.
I thought that he wanted to stay as Adam because that's really his strongest form. Because he had to keep the secret for for so long and had to keep up that weak persona. There's a episode in the original where Adam goes to the sorceress and said he was tired if playing the fool, he wanted his father to know he is capable. She advises him that it would put everyone he cares about in danger. So to me Adam was the strongest form. In the 80s I always thought there was something going on between he-man and teela. Teela admired he-man.....anyway your probably right in your assessment. Some people want it to be true. I'm not one of those people. I just want a contuation.
@@justahuman4862 hey buddy, I'm right there with you. I would PREFER your theory it sounds sooo much better, but who knows what this "woke" storyline will give us. 🤷♂️
I'd just say I'm lucky to have enjoyed the OG and '02 versions. But I'm also afraid that new audiences would see the series in this light. It just doesnt feel right
There is only a few ways to end this now. 1. They bring back He-Man a third time. Cheapening death in this franchise. Everyone can come back. So boring. There is no more fear of death. 2. They stick with Teela. And hope everyone will once again have to tolerate such a stupid character. Her behavior after He-mans death was pathetic.Teela will then kill Skeletor in some way. Probably through gaining the power of Grayskull. Honestly I’m sick of the repeated Mary Sues in old franchises. They can’t make original content. They just steal from the past.
One point that should be made is this IP already had a female-centric version called She-Ra. It was made to cater to these exact people, so the fact that they came in and did this proves they have nothing but sinister motives behind their actions. The fact that this aggressive take over has become ubiquitous and that beta males help facilitate this destruction is the real crime. I can’t blame a woman who has grown to hate men and makes it her life’s work to debase us any chance she can, but a man who willingly goes along because he is either too weak or thinks this will some how score him some points- traitors like that deserve a traitor’s death.
I say the same. I love She-Ra as well as I love Supergirl. Teela is said to be the Sorceress Of Grayskull in the future, so of course she would have a big role, especially after her mother Teela Na. But destroying He-Man is exactly like if people would destroy Superman or Spiderman for the fans. He-Man was absolutely my favourite cartoon of my childhood. Superman was my second favourite. The so-called Disney is in the process of doing that and destroying everything that Walt Dianey created. They replace the fairytales that describe exactly how the character is meant to be? The difference is that DC and Marvel may change as they own the rights. Disney does not have the right to alter scripts of old fairy tales or folklore. So I truly understand the fans of the Master of the Universe. My favourite is the sorceress of Grayskull, what I did like was her powers in this new version, but they did destroy it directly..
@@Imozart0341I Because most people didn't need a short hand for intersectional, critical race theory, reparative writing, feminist misandry, with optional white bashing. My how the times have changed.

On its own, it is an interesting story about a quest. By using the characters of He-man for this story, it however seems more like a way that the persons involved tried to kill of the characters they don't like so only the characters they like are still available going forward.
This was not okay. I grew up on this cartoon, and for this dude Smith to destroy it, pisses me off. Why do they feel they need to do this??!! They did the same to voltron. Don’t make characters that weren’t gay, gay. What is that. If you want to have characters of that nature, make a new cartoon and call it something else. Don’t tamper with classics. Period
Also it was in a bulshit way if you think about it. He literally just stayed around in episode one for a minute or two where heman and skeletor died in the most anticlimactic way with skeletor having the most bulshit way of returning back to life. It was poorly written off in the story.
Obviously? Pfft Teela and her lesbian lover will be defeating skeletor. The only reason prince Adam is still alive at all is so he can happily pass the sword to his.....far superior replacement and tell her how much he sucks and how awesome she is. After that he might die or he might retire and start pursuing an interest in basket weaving or the painting of ceramic pixie houses (which Teela is also better at doing but she has no time for such trivial things with her being the new champion)
We have nothing against a female protagonist, That's what She-ra is for. This was supposed to be He-man's show. There would be outrage if they decided to sidestep She-ra for a male protagonist.
@Shiningforceking And here's the thing She-Ra is in MOTU: Revelation, Andra is a descendant of King Grayskull and will probably become the new She-Ra considering that it's a new universe/spiritual successor and NOT a continuation of the 1980s show (Netflix and Kevin Smith admit this) Andra's true name will be revealed to be Adora and she and Adam are cousins (rather than brother and sister) Teela will become the new sorceress of Grayskull and find out about her lineage and relation Adam will become the new king of Grayskull and the sword of power will pass onto someone else.......maybe He-ro who instead of being Adam and Teela's son will instead be Adam's brother or cousin (since they would actually do something like that)
Thanks for this review so I don't have to endure the show, gonna rewatch the original then the 2002 series soon, and gonna skip this crap. Keep up the good work.
From watching the early 80s cartoon to me Teela would have been more apologetic because she always gave Adam crap for not training hard enough. She knows the burden he-man has being he-man. I think she would have been mature and be sadden by his death. Now she knows that Adams the one that had that burden.
@@justahuman4862 I know. The moment He-man reverted to prince Adam I could have seen many emotions coming from Teela and many of those would have been a compelling choice given the situation but what we got was absolute crap.
If you really think about it, though, she is a fantastically well written character. She is a self absorbed narcissist feminazi, and everyone with empathy and reason absolutely hates her.
It’s he-man not Teela it’s who we came to see if it was Star Wars or GI Joe I could get behind a female lead but it’s like tuning in to watch a Superman movie only for it to turn out to be about Jimmy Olsen
So help me out here, if you look at the 1st trailer, obviously they wanted you to think He Man was the central focal point of the show, because that's what fans want,so apparently they knew what the fans wanted right? So I ask myself why did they give he man more screen time in the trailer than in the actual show... because it's not due to ignorance.. what other possibility is there? Discuss.

This whole series is a complete disaster. It was not written for fans of the old series, but for a new political direction. I have nothing against female main characters, or anything against other sexual orientations in films or series. But it also has to fit. You should have just made a spin-off. Then there would have been no problem. But you had to abuse He-Man for this crap. And the series is slowly but surely becoming more and more hostile to me. Because almost all formerly important male roles die and / or are ridiculed. While the now only female main characters are portrayed either totally unsympathetic and arrogant (Teela). Or in a few episodes they seem to make a sudden and totally implausible change of heart by 180 degrees in terms of attitude (Noch Evil Lyn). Now the last one should have understood that Kevin Smith and Netflix lied from the start. It was never planned as a He-Man series, rather as his slow and irreverent funeral. It's starting to seem like Kevin Smith is following more of a political and not an artistic agenda. I just hope that both Kevin and Netflix will get a corresponding receipt from the fans when it's finally over.
Fully agreed. If they had made a Teela spin off, I would have been on board. But to say this is a He-Man show, and this is what they give us, is bullshit. He's killed off in the first episode, then again in the 5th episode as soon as Adam gets back in. We need to boycott Kevin Smith and his "Clerks 3" and him in general for this crap.
One more point to make….Will we see more He-Man/Adam in Part 2? Absolutely! Here are some hints I’ve analyzed. 1) Chris Wood is at top of the actor list, so we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of He-Man/Adam in Part 2. 2) Adam was stabbed in roughly the same area that He-Man stabbed Skeletor and he survived. 3) Do you really think Mattel would make a cartoon series of MOTU without He-Man? Of course not. He’s their most popular character & the character everyone wants to see kick Skeletors butt.
One way to tell if a show is woke nowadays is if you notice that the characters you like get killed or they get removed from the story after losing everything of value to a character you don't really like. Also while this is happening all the characters you hate have the most impenetrable plot armor.
I don't understand how it's okay for people to be upset over a book. To be upset over a reality TV show, it's fine for them to be upset over sports. But being upset over a comic book, animated series, or a video game is childish. That's completely bull, normal kids read books, watch reality shows and sports , then carry these habits into adulthood. Straight bull and unfair, no one has a issue with female leads or changes in the story, the issues lie in the writing and forced messages that side track the plot. Multiple people enjoyed the remakes and sequels of series. Battlestar Galactica, He-man(2002), Thundercats, The Office, Shameless, Startrek(Next Gen, Deep space 9, Voyager, Enterprise) The Ticks, Duck Tales, Voltron just a few to name. All these have changes to them but the series is still good. All fans and audiences deserve respect and honesty from the writers and showrunners.
So basically this reboot one of the most popular superhero franchises is just a big fat middle finger I never was that much of a he-man fan I got introduced to it during the 2002 reboot cuz I like the cartoon at the time, I didn't know about the original series I did not find out about that fact until I got older and discovered new information still I wasn't die hard He-Man fan I never watched the original I didn't even watch Shira princess of power but I can understand why people like the cartoon and after watching this video I can understand why people are upset.
Everyone is trying really hard to force people to like the series. I think they need to get over the fact that some people will just flat-out don't like it. Also Kevin Smith downplayed evil-lyn and Teela by saying they were off to the side background characters that weren't a part of the show when they were a huge part of the show and the show would not have been good without them but they weren't the only part of the show that made it good.
Hamill is legendary but I could only hear the Joker and not Skeletor. He either needs to really switch it up OR be recast. I wouldn't want him recast though.
My prediction. Part 2 will be about Teela coming to terms with her magical heritage (Sorceress is her mother) & likely taking that mantle (unless Lynn becomes Sorceress.) Evil Lynn will turn on Skeletor & her cuck Beastman will follow suit. Greyskull & the boys will return from heaven to help in the climactic battle. Duncan, Sorceress, Beastman Randor & Skeletor will die. Adam will be both Heman & king at the end, but he'll think that's to much power for 1 being thus handing the power sword over to someone else... (this was foreshadowed when he chose Adam's form over Heman in Preternia). Either Teela, Andra, or the returned King Grayskull will be the new Heman in the end.
As someone who didn't grow up watching He-Man (I grew up watching Thundercats), I found the show ok. I'd probably give it a 6.5 out of 10 at the most. But then again if someone remade Thundercats without Lion-O and made the show all about Cheetara and lied about it I'd be PISSED.
Is this show all about Teela though? As I understand it there's going to be more episodes that will focus on He-Man. I believe they're setting up Teela to become the next Sorceress which will eventually lead to the resurrection of He-Man/Adam. There can be other story arch for other characters. Also the show is called The Masters of the Universe Revelations not He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Revelations.
@@porchhonky6844 I actually agree with what you're saying. My friends who watched the show hated it because there was barely any He-Man action. I told them exactly what you said about the title. It just wasn't clear at the start that the show was more like a spinoff. I hope part 2 will redeem part 1.
Wait did you call Orko's home land Trola. It's Trala. And you also called Man at Arms, master at arms. Maybe I missed something.🤣😂🤣😂. The main problem with this show is that Kevin Smith should not have said anything at all. He should have let everybody believe what they thought. He really wanted this to be a surprise really really bad. The internet is full of speculation. It seems that everyone wants to ruin the experience for themselves by making assumptions based on what we were told and what we think we know. And then we become disappointed if it's not what we thought it was, or if it is exactly what we didn't want it to be. Just remember we can always watch the old stuff. You don't have to watch this, and this doesn't change anything about the old stuff. We have another version coming from Netflix as well. I love having all these choices. And I can't wait to see how that show is.
It's good to see some people are enjoying this show. I am a bit torn by narrative outcome in these 5 episodes so far. The pros outweigh the cons for me, and look forward to watching more. Even though the classic 80s show will be my core foundation to this fantastical entertainment media. I will give this series a fair shake in the long run. Another thing I've meditated upon is how group mentality can either bring down, or benefit this show's value. Enjoy or detract.
@@destho4308 I noticed a few things you mentioned. It's the sheep mentality that got people repeating what others say. It's no wonder why they are called followers. This show is far from bad. Teela is not a marry sue, and It's not woke. She is actually the best choice to take on this mission, if not Duncan. We just need more of the old crew to show up in the second half. As far as the 80's show is concerned. We all have nostalgia for it. We were small kids and it represents good times. When I watch it today, it is hilariously generic. The stories are simple and predictable. It has no real consequences because He-Man will save the day, every episode. No one ever gets seriously hurt. And it's structured to teach kids a lesson. It's truly a kids show. Limited reused animation, goofy enemies, and no one can shoot straight or actually hit anyone with their weapon. How is it that He-Man struggles to pick up big boulders, but still manages to throw them hundreds of miles away? 🤣😂🤣😂. Is he strong or not? But we loved it anyway. The 200X show is actually the better show for me. It had a lot of story elements that explains a lot of what we know about the entire lore today. And the Teela show gave us the afterlife. I never seen Scareglow, Wun-darr, and Vikor on screen before. Wow I talk a lot. But the truth is that this is definitely not a bad show. And the story is actually really good.
I think the series screw up bad. It feels like the first five episodes should have been in the middle of a season or the start of a second season. Where would get some time with the character before going and killing them off. Secondly, some of the characters feel completely different from the other ones we know and love. Teela for example doesn't feel like the Teela I know and love. This also hurts the show in my opinion. I don't know if I am even going to come back and give the second part a chance. One good thing did come from the show! It got me to go back and start re-watching the original 1983 Filmation show. (Which for anyone interested can be streamed on STARS.) Still a great show, each episode with a good lesson for kids at the end.
@Treyous Season 2 is said to be entirely focused on evil-lyn instead of Teela, He-Man/Adam, and the other Masters of the Universe We are instead getting an evil-lyn Side Story
As an adult who grew up in the 80s & 90s I understand people being disappointed. However as an adult I’m always a bit confused when people my age throw tantrums & are outraged when newer versions of the cartoon aren’t as good. Just say it sucks & move on. But if you are in your 30s or 40s & are irate about a new cartoon series you might need to reconsider your priorities. 🤷🏽♂️
@@johnlawful2272 honestly I’m more so just venting. Because I have people I know both the same age & older than me who do this. I’m like “Just don’t watch it.” See a grown man wishing for the creators of a cartoon be out of work using F bombs because they were disappointed it quite concerning.
@@Thatdeal79 they deserve it, not the animators, but the showrunners for being a bunch of fucking liars, and then being too coward to assume it. THAT is why it's so infuriating
@@xiuhcoatl4830 my main point is no adults who is a fan of the property should let the disappointment ruin their day. Because disappointing or not it’s still a cartoon series. 🤷🏽♂️
Being an old MOTU fan from the very beginning, I very strongly disagree. I loved the new, reimagined version. I have grown up as a person since the days when I played with the toys back then. So that's why I welcome a more adult, serious approach. And I couldn't care less that Teela gets the most screentime in the first 5 episodes. Who cares? There's still an awesome, compelling story being told in one of my favorite fictional worlds. What part was not to like? I'm really asking, because I massively enjoyed every minute. I even liked Orko, can you believe it?
I was actually excited to watch this as I thought it would be very action oriented. Watched the first 3 episodes so, admittedly, I can’t really have a full opinion but from what I saw it’s very disappointing. How can you have the titular character hardly in the show? Baffling. Plus where’s the action? Hardly any at all. Should have known it would be bad once I saw Kevin Smith’s name attached to this project. He writes complete fan fic rather than actually take inspiration from the source material.
What I find is funny is people tend forget he-man acted like a goof to conceal that he was he-man and that Randor always wanted him to be more serious and man up watch the episode: he-man no more and it shows how much he wanted to impress his father without being he-man but he was constantly compared to he-man at the same time. Teela just watched the greatest hero she ever knew die and also found out he-man was adam that is quite the shock, now her outburst at his parents is a bit uncalled for but she was very emotional so it overwhelmed her despite her military training. King Randor was distraught about losing his son and not being told that adam was He-man which made him regret what he said to adam the last time he saw him, so he took that frustration and anger with himself and scapegoated Man-At-arms. Teela leaves due to feeling betrayed and is angry that Randor would treat her father badly. The show subverted expectations and it was polarizing to fans but remember most fans watched these shows as children I mean I have gone back watched them as an adult oh god were some of them were corny. Also remember the show was called He-Man and the masters of the universe, this one is just called Masters of the Universe implying day it's name alone that it's going be more about the Masters of the Universe rather then he-man. The masters were Teela,Orko, man-at-arms, roboto and few others the show was about the Masters overall so I don't see it being deceptive. The series that's coming out after this will have He-Man in every episode so let's see where that goes.
Did anybody find it funny hearing Batman and the Joker having something in common, like killing He-Man?

Yes! This one and GI JOE. I also remember the GI Joe episode about what to do during a fire.
@@qb9937 naw pushing "girl power" while "men suck" isnt fine. It would be if their wasnt a double standard but they since they wanna be hypocrites they can take their feminazi bullshit message and shove it.

I totally agree!
Filmation cartoon series were ALL like that and it was a great concept to have lessons for kids.
The moral of the story... Just great!
Maybe the producers of this reboot crap think that those fans from back then are nihilistic and sarcastic as well.

These "creators" fail to realize that strong female characters and strong male characters can coexist. Red Sonja ring a bell?
Edit: Old He-man and She-ra exists
But that doesn't help the whiners and their narrative...
Just wait until the red sonja movie comes out soon, we'll see...
Holly.. that is a true statement!!
Kevin Smith has lost a lot of respect from fans of the original series as well as just those who expect honestly from a show creator.

It's easy for them. Just call all the fans a bunch if bad guys from ww2 and move on to destroy the next beloved franchise.
When will people realize that killing off main characters doesn’t equal good writing.
This show has problems way above just killing characters. The characters and their reasoning is utter trash.
It's just dumb.

Heres the thing, I dont hate the "killing of He-Man" and adam sacrficing himself to finally end skeletor once and for all.

Nah, her gf will get it
I thought that he wanted to stay as Adam because that's really his strongest form.

Best TH-cam channel by far. I couldn’t have expressed how I feel about this Netflix show any better! Great honest video, thank you guys
There is no future for MOTU. Kevin Smith strangled that baby in the crib.
My favourite is the sorceress of Grayskull, what I did like was her powers in this new version, but they did destroy it directly..
i'm glad you brought attention to this. me and my brother felt the same way. i like the animation but its woke.
I don’t think it’s woke, if this was 2003 no one would say woke.

Also I don't remember Janet, Velma, shaggy, Scooby, Cheetara, Lion-O, she ra needing to tear down others to make themselves look strong.
I'm really scared about what's gonna happen in Season 2. I had high hopes for this show.
I don't
Thanks.
They sell as a He Man history, but it was everything about Teela! It was unfair!
On its own, it is an interesting story about a quest. By using the characters of He-man for this story, it however seems more like a way that the persons involved tried to kill of the characters they don't like so only the characters they like are still available going forward.
I'm starting to think it's a good idea that I haven't seen this series.
Same
I am just gonna say this, I made i review on part 1, but i have to say i think your video is better then mines, well done
I Stopped after 3 episodes.
Not my *MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE*
Kevin Smith cried, Kevin Smith lied, and twice He-Man died.
What an insult.
Rewatching the 2002 series instead.
Sad to see studio Powerhouse Animation's awesome character designs being wasted . They should change their policy to not accept propaganda pieces .
Period
Obviously He Man will come back and defeat Skeletor in series two , what i didn't like was He Man dying right off the bat
Awesome review . Please do a review of part 2
We have nothing against a female protagonist, That's what She-ra is for.
This was supposed to be He-man's show.
There would be outrage if they decided to sidestep She-ra for a male protagonist.
@Shiningforceking
And here's the thing She-Ra is in MOTU: Revelation, Andra is a descendant of King Grayskull and will probably become the new She-Ra considering that it's a new universe/spiritual successor and NOT a continuation of the 1980s show
(Netflix and Kevin Smith admit this)
Andra's true name will be revealed to be Adora and she and Adam are cousins
(rather than brother and sister)
Teela will become the new sorceress of Grayskull and find out about her lineage and relation
Adam will become the new king of Grayskull and the sword of power will pass onto someone else.......maybe He-ro who instead of being Adam and Teela's son will instead be Adam's brother or cousin (since they would actually do something like that)
Thanks for this review so I don't have to endure the show, gonna rewatch the original then the 2002 series soon, and gonna skip this crap.
Keep up the good work.
I was wondering why tela was so mad they keep the secret too
I wonder is the sorceress her mother in this
Tela is just projecting cause she has a secret too which might have something to do with being in a closet.
It's like Godzilla again.... One finger salute to you netflix

This sucks. Im glad I didn't watch this show.
Dr who, Ghostbusters, star wars, star trek.... ugh......what's next??? 007? Superman??
One more point to make….Will we see more He-Man/Adam in Part 2? Absolutely! Here are some hints I’ve analyzed. 1) Chris Wood is at top of the actor list, so we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of He-Man/Adam in Part 2.
2) Adam was stabbed in roughly the same area that He-Man stabbed Skeletor and he survived. 3) Do you really think Mattel would make a cartoon series of MOTU without He-Man? Of course not. He’s their most popular character & the character everyone wants to see kick Skeletors butt.
Only death that bothered me was Orko.
One way to tell if a show is woke nowadays is if you notice that the characters you like get killed or they get removed from the story after losing everything of value to a character you don't really like. Also while this is happening all the characters you hate have the most impenetrable plot armor.
Nah he got blasted into another dimension and everybody will go get him back in season 2 lol
@@hypnodance he was in many ways the innocence of the show.
So . . ..part 2 is already animated netflix split the season however season 2 is waiting on approval
All fans and audiences deserve respect and honesty from the writers and showrunners.
the 2002 was way better than kevin smiths shitty version hope 2002 version has a revival and a conclusion someday
I hope Orko isn’t really dead and comes back for part 2! #staywoke
Teela's greatest fear is being too awesome. That's just nauseating.
I didn't watch it for the sole reason that we live in the WOKE era....
Disasters of the Universe would be a better Name for it.
There most likely won't be a future after this stinker.
Then the Hacker is responsible for this mess, not Kevin Smith
Bro Mark Hamill’s voice acting was A1 that’s at least a 2nd positive
When I hear him i just think Joker tho.. not a bad thing but Batman the animated series was one of the best shows ever.. this show was garbage
He is a fantastic voice actor. He did not shine bright here.
Hamill is legendary but I could only hear the Joker and not Skeletor. He either needs to really switch it up OR be recast. I wouldn't want him recast though.
Next Batman movie.. starring Catwoman.. with just a dash of Batman
The long Halloween part 2.....but atleast catwoman is hot 😅
My prediction. Part 2 will be about Teela coming to terms with her magical heritage (Sorceress is her mother) & likely taking that mantle (unless Lynn becomes Sorceress.)
Evil Lynn will turn on Skeletor & her cuck Beastman will follow suit. Either Teela, Andra, or the returned King Grayskull will be the new Heman in the end.
this franchise has no future.
Kevin Smith be like Silent Bob and Shut Up.
whoa, i never see this channel sounded so angry and pissed off, usually so calm and informative
@@qboycorvi I'm sure it will. I was going to criticize the hell out of this show until I found out that more was to come.
If we're lucky, DC will eventually film injustice vs masters of the universe. Then maybe we'll get to see a decent He-Man after all.
It is just part one… I am going to wait until it’s all over before I decide anything!!!
You’ve sold it to me, sounds awesome!
@Treyous
Season 2 is said to be entirely focused on evil-lyn instead of Teela, He-Man/Adam, and the other Masters of the Universe
We are instead getting an evil-lyn Side Story
Screw that, I have a problem with the Alphabet community over representation in Hollywood, video games, and comics.

I like the show. It was good animated and the story was good written.
I completely understand how you feel.
y’all are just mad it’s not all about He-Man. i think this is a super interesting take on the Masters of the Universe series
Why would anyone think that a show called he man was actualy going to have he man in the show, that's just ridiculous right
I was actually excited to watch this as I thought it would be very action oriented.
I love your content, but I loved it grew up on original im 40. I can't wait for the next season
