As a rec room builder, one of the worst bugs that have happened to the community was that when I was building, I went to go animate something yet when I tried to animate, I couldn’t. They fixed it in the next update which was about 10-12 days later but that slight delay lead my game to get delayed until the animation gizmo was fixed. It was annoying because if I couldn’t animate, I can’t have fun because one of the only things I find fun in rec room is building.

Since I joined Rec Room quite late (2022) I had no idea about Rec Room’s history. This really opened my eyes to Rec Room and everything that has happened. This is also an amazing video with great editing. However long you put into this video was definitely worth it!

EVERY other game renders normally. the game also kills my pc, sometimes running at 80% cpu even in just ^park on screenmode i began playing recroom january 2021, and have spent 2000 hours in the game. and this game seems to get progressively worse every update amazing video, i loved every second of it
Sadly I agree with most of these points, it looked like rec room really cared about their community from 2026 to 2019 but as we got closer to 2020 rec toom seemingly started to focus on themselves as a company, and the community was left to the side. I cant forget the great impact rec room has had on my life and the good times I spent there but its sad to see such a great game grow to a successful but corporate and technically less successful state.

I played for 7 years (that’s since 2016), it was 3 months after it’s release, my friend told me about me about this game, I tryed it out and here I am today.
I love rec room. I've been a creator for 2 years and having more fun than I can express. I've met some of the coolest people too. Within a year or two, I could have a full blown career creating games with others. There are amazing opportunities in rr and I'm so thankful for it. Some of the energy people have poured into these games just blows my mind. Huge respect to those that work every day to create these beautiful places with that little tool, the Maker Pen. It's really incredible.
Best Rec Room video I’ve seen in a long, long time. I truly hope they can change the state of this game for the better, I used to have so much fun making videos and having fun with friends but now it just feels like every other heavily monetised, FTP game, it’s really sad
I'm amazed I this popped up on my fyp a year later. I've never wanted to genuinely watch a rec room video all the way through until I saw this. It's baffling how everything mentioned in this video still stands in todays state of rec room. I haven't had that same spark as I had back in 2018. Although I wasn't around throughout all of 2018, I still got to enjoy it's last moments and had an amazing time making friends and having fun playing games. But now most of them are gone and I'm still stuck on the game. It's just seriously disappointing how much the game has downgraded. I've yapped enough. amazing video!

This is truly one of the best Rec Room videos I have ever watched. This is one of the only videos I’ve watched that has fairly criticised and talked about the reasons that truly bring Rec Room down and doesn’t focus on dumb idiot things that are only truly specific to each player. Rec Room has really lost its charm over the years, and it is truly hard to see as a 2019 player. I haven’t played in 2018 or earlier, but I believe I can understand that it would probably be better than whatever greedy, slimy, money hungry game that it has become now. This game has turned from a small, local and friendly community to an abhorrent game brought down by so many aspects and their greedy higher ups. I feel as if Rec Room is legitimately doing things just for a quick buck. The most recent events and different features seem to just be just for money. Like the science events, Rec Room added so many of these “Limited time packs” that make you pay and extortionate amount of money for some credits, tokens and food just for some polygons and strings of code that are up for a limited time, just for them to do the same exact event again a few months later but for Christmas. They seem to re-release every single rare item that they promised they wouldn’t, and I honestly would not be surprised if they re-released the darn “Class of” shirts for 10,000 tokens. Rec Room has just turned into a lifeless, money hungry shell of what it originally was, and they state that they need to have money to keep the company running when they are selling a necklace for 40 bucks. I remember the days when Rec Room favoured the older players and allowed them to have their older items for keep-sakes, but now they just seem to appease the newer players so that they can get more money, as the devs put in barley any effort and break the whole game, like that one time where Steam VR was unplayable as it would crash every 5 minutes. This is still a great criticism on Rec Room, and it truly reveals the awful problems the game has, and shows that we do care to see the game genuinely improve and let the devs have better morals instead of charging people a truck load of money just to buy some token packs. i joined rr at the very start of 2020 and just managed to get the end of the game being fun but after they announced the just horrendous mistake known as "rec room plus" it just went downhill and we got less and less updates. i quit rr about 3 months ago for good reason. also thought id mention just how good this vid is you smashed it and absolutely deserve more attention on yt

This video is something else. After watching for a few minutes, I realised that this was like I was watching a Scott The Woz video and that's what made me like it more and continuing watching it. Rec Room hasn't been the best nowadays. In fact, it's gotten worse since this video came out with Ignited games and the RR representation of greed, Taconic. This is the type of videos I like and wish there were more like this style
Rec Room has run it's course and its my time to move on. I'm really going to miss this game, even if it hurts to leave behind a past with so many good memories. Even though this video is over a year old now I still think this sums up everything that is still wrong with the game today, but everything has gotten a lot worse. The weekly challenges are gone, the game optimization gets worse, and bugs like the double shot that nobody asked to get removed gets nicked even though people have been asking for other bugs to be fixed. This was a hell of a video with a lot of effort and it shows that people in the community want the game to be good again but they just aren’t willing to listen or put in the effort.
In Fortnite, if you had purchased the Save the World PVE Campaign (which is more entertaining than modern battle royale, but also kinda repetitive after a while) before June 29, 2020 you would have gotten a special edition of the game called the "Founder's Edition" and with this edition of the game, you are given daily quests to complete for 150-300 vbucks as well as 10,600 - 13,200 vbucks per year from daily login rewards. The combined number totaling approximately 65,350 - 123,900 vbucks per year, and if you had played since launch of Save the world, you would have profited nearly 392,100 - 743,400 vbucks today. (The estimated total is probably more than this btw) With the current value of the vbuck, (1 vbuck = 0.008$ USD) then your profit in USD would be $3,137 - $5,947 from just doing your daily missions each day. (rounded) This is the only way to get around "buying" vbucks, although you still had to buy the game which is $39.99, and as low as $14.99 - $19.99 with certain bundles or sales.
Also we not gonna talk about how there is a whole community stealing inactive rare accounts and selling them for irl money that REC ROOM KNOWS ABOUT but doesn’t make any progress to stopping it.
Why did recroom devs make a discord server with feedback channels, an in-game bug report tool, and an entire feedback forums website, just for the recroom devs to literally NEVER look at any of it.
I just realized, at 10:28 that is my screenshot. It's not because rec room's performance is atrocious, it's because of this hardware issue I have on my computer. But rec room's performance is still really bad to this day that it might as well represent it.
Agree with literally everything said here. Having played since very late in 2017, it's damn disappointing to see RR, which (I think) had potential for greatness, fall from grace so drastically over time, but alas, we have a wannabe Roblox clone. Well done for putting this video together in a way that's both informative and comedic!
One thing rec room did right in the past few years is definitely cv2, and most bugs have to do with their new maker pen ui and it’s very fun to build things.

I used to love Rec Room infact I played it everyday for hours. Then it started to get boring after the RR+ update. They went greedy for money trying to get players to buy RR+ and tokens and packs instead of listening to the community, fixing bugs, and optimizing the game. And then the ads they are cringe this is one reason why I use ad blockers everywhere. Also the freezes and crashes those would happen ALOT. I don't really play this game anymore. It used to be fun. And RR Studio may make the game worse.
Someone needs to make an alternative game. A game even better and including some form of system that insures that the game stays the way the original creators intended.
tokens can be earned in fact those who have most of the tokens have the most tokens when you mention custom inventions are a way that tokens are earned, keys are a way for tokens to be earned and every one is aware of boxes that give tokens... and rec room gives almost as much as they make back in REAL money with all the things like room rewards which give out 100,000 dollars EVERY MONTH in tokens that CAN be turned into real money. also im about to go do something so im searching through the rest of the video covers all this
Rec Room reminds me of one of the stanzas of a certain song “I tried so hard And that’s all fine But I’m the end It doesn’t even matter” As the lyrics say Rec Room tries so hard to be a better game but in the end it doesn’t even matter because they can’t fix the things that need fixing.
I just about made it in late 2019. I was never interested in VR chat due to the general lack of direction when you play it. In recroom, it actually felt like there was stuff worth doing. It's a good job I made it in when I did because despite easily being the most fun I've ever had in a video game, it's quickly gone to shit. It's a real shame. But honestly, although a significant number of people I met were on PSVR, I don't think the loss of PlayStation will impact recrooms pockets massively if it does occur. Recroom clearly loves screenmode players more than anyone now and all the control and UI updates make that very clear. I haven't played it in almost a year now... Honestly though, the main reason I stay away is it's just not easy to jump into any game and consistently encounter nice people, like you could back in 2019.
About the Sony not liking RR Studio thing, I'm thinking that rec room already has a solution to it because I know a company that likes money so much probably wouldn't get rid of so many of it's players(though rec room has made some bad decisions so maybe they will ). Or Rec Room just thinks that Rec Room studio will get so popular from RR Studio that the game will gain more players and more money.

As much as I agree with this, there is one MAJOR fact which you left out and I’m sorry but it’s not about Rec Room. I have been playing for a year now and I still find this game so much fun. It hasn’t gotten boring yet and I love everything. Your points are correct as I agree with the overpriced items and such but I noticed something which you left out. You’ve been playing for 5 years and that’s a long time for a game. However, as I see it, you have played the game enough. You don’t want to leave it but it’s no more fun as the game has become stale and different. You think the ‘glory days’ were 5 years ago and your opinion is completely valid. Soon, I will look back on Rec Room and go ‘the golden years was 4 years ago’ and leave with heavy breath. Nothing lasts forever, you sometimes need to learn to let go. It’s not the same game from 5 years ago and so you are nostalgic for the time you first joined, when you would call it its ‘golden years’. To me, the game’s great. I’m not bored yet and although I’m not part of the ‘first batch’ of players, i am nostalgic for some times a year ago. This isn’t just with Rec Room in which players don’t play games as they outgrow it. Minecraft is another example. All the player in 2013 think that that was the ‘golden years’ and that today’s Minecraft is too different. But, the newer players think that the game is great with the new updates. But that is what many people struggle with, letting go. Many of these comments criticize the game and company and as much as I agree they have become greedy, the commenters have also changed. Letting go is tough, especially when your younger but you let Rec Room rule you for a few years and now, you are more mature to move on. Whichever game you’ll play next, whichever game you’ll get addicted to next, you will eventually move on like you have with Rec Room. Sorry for my ramblings. I have only played for a year and so I am just a low level guy in this Giga Society of Rec Room Professionals. Don’t let my rant tell you that you are the reason you hate it as that is not true. You are a loyal and caring Rec Room player for many years now and now you can rest. Enjoy the next game you play and don’t let me discourage you.
Been playing since 2018. I remember players back then being super nice and all, wanting to help. Hints to some games here there but no one wanting to actually show said hints. Now days not only do people tell you the hints, they're play the game while showing you or you get complete toxic players in your face.

12:59 I don't like how you brought up the total number of accounts (users=accounts) so I would say each person has 3 alt accounts (I've made over 200 for military game trolling so the number would be inflated and I think the number is even higher but I am overcorrecting). So lots of people have alt accounts and the 3,000,000 would be the amount (in quarter 1) that were MONTHLY connecting ON VR headsets if you say 75% of players were on VR Headsets I think is too high but I am overcorrecting the actual player retention each month to accounts created ever would be 3,750,000/25,000,000=.15 so it would actually be more like 15%. The difference from 4% to 15% is instead of 1/25 it is 3/20 (15% isn't perfect 1/) a rounded down 15 percent would be 1/7. Just saying read the article closely there can be a large difference if you take other factors into consideration.

I started Rec Room in september 1, 2018. I have to say in the first 8 min i found this video amazing and True.
Rec Room has run it's course and its my time to move on. I'm really going to miss this game, even if it hurts to leave behind a past with so many good memories. I hope we can all meet in a new game free from greed and mismanagement. Thank you for giving me and many others the courage to move on - Run!^-^
Even though this video is over a year old now I still think this sums up everything that is still wrong with the game today, but everything has gotten a lot worse. The weekly challenges are gone, the game optimization gets worse, and bugs like the double shot that nobody asked to get removed gets nicked even though people have been asking for other bugs to be fixed. This was a hell of a video with a lot of effort and it shows that people in the community want the game to be good again but they just aren’t willing to listen or put in the effort.
In Fortnite, if you had purchased the Save the World PVE Campaign (which is more entertaining than modern battle royale, but also kinda repetitive after a while) before June 29, 2020 you would have gotten a special edition of the game called the "Founder's Edition" and with this edition of the game, you are given daily quests to complete for 150-300 vbucks as well as 10,600 - 13,200 vbucks per year from daily login rewards. The combined number totaling approximately 65,350 - 123,900 vbucks per year, and if you had played since launch of Save the world, you would have profited nearly 392,100 - 743,400 vbucks today. (The estimated total is probably more than this btw) With the current value of the vbuck, (1 vbuck = 0.008$ USD) then your profit in USD would be $3,137 - $5,947 from just doing your daily missions each day. (rounded) This is the only way to get around "buying" vbucks, although you still had to buy the game which is $39.99, and as low as $14.99 - $19.99 with certain bundles or sales.

Also we not gonna talk about how there is a whole community stealing inactive rare accounts and selling them for irl money that REC ROOM KNOWS ABOUT but doesn’t make any progress to stopping it.

Why did recroom devs make a discord server with feedback channels, an in-game bug report tool, and an entire feedback forums website, just for the recroom devs to literally NEVER look at any of it.

Agree with literally everything said here. Having played since very late in 2017, it's damn disappointing to see RR, which (I think) had potential for greatness, fall from grace so drastically over time, but alas, we have a wannabe Roblox clone. Well done for putting this video together in a way that's both informative and comedic!
One thing rec room did right in the past few years is definitely cv2, and most bugs have to do with their new maker pen ui and it’s very fun to build things.

I used to love Rec Room infact I played it everyday for hours. Then it started to get boring after the RR+ update. They went greedy for money trying to get players to buy RR+ and tokens and packs instead of listening to the community, fixing bugs, and optimizing the game. And then the ads they are cringe this is one reason why I use ad blockers everywhere. Also the freezes and crashes those would happen ALOT. I don't really play this game anymore. It used to be fun. And RR Studio may make the game worse.
Someone needs to make an alternative game. A game even better and including some form of system that insures that the game stays the way the original creators intended.
tokens can be earned in fact those who have most of the tokens have the most tokens when you mention custom inventions are a way that tokens are earned, keys are a way for tokens to be earned and every one is aware of boxes that give tokens... and rec room gives almost as much as they make back in REAL money with all the things like room rewards which give out 100,000 dollars EVERY MONTH in tokens that CAN be turned into real money. also im about to go do something so im searching through the rest of the video covers all this

I just about made it in late 2019. I was never interested in VR chat due to the general lack of direction when you play it. In recroom, it actually felt like there was stuff worth doing.
It's a good job I made it in when I did because despite easily being the most fun I've ever had in a video game, it's quickly gone to shit.
It's a real shame. But honestly, although a significant number of people I met were on PSVR, I don't think the loss of PlayStation will impact recrooms pockets massively if it does occur. Recroom clearly loves screenmode players more than anyone now and all the control and UI updates make that very clear. I haven't played it in almost a year now... Honestly though, the main reason I stay away is it's just not easy to jump into any game and consistently encounter nice people, like you could back in 2019.

About the Sony not liking RR Studio thing, I'm thinking that rec room already has a solution to it because I know a company that likes money so much probably wouldn't get rid of so many of it's players(though rec room has made some bad decisions so maybe they will ). Or Rec Room just thinks that Rec Room studio will get so popular from RR Studio that the game will gain more players and more money.

I’m still having fun in Rec Room. It may just be the fact that I don’t have several thousand hours in it and haven’t played the game religiously for 5 years, but none the less good video.
As much as I agree with this, there is one MAJOR fact which you left out and I’m sorry but it’s not about Rec Room.
I have been playing for a year now and I still find this game so much fun. It hasn’t gotten boring yet and I love everything. Your points are correct as I agree with the overpriced items and such but I noticed something which you left out.
You’ve been playing for 5 years and that’s a long time for a game. However, as I see it, you have played the game enough. You don’t want to leave it but it’s no more fun as the game has become stale and different. You think the ‘glory days’ were 5 years ago and your opinion is completely valid. Soon, I will look back on Rec Room and go ‘the golden years was 4 years ago’ and leave with heavy breath. Nothing lasts forever, you sometimes need to learn to let go.
It’s not the same game from 5 years ago and so you are nostalgic for the time you first joined, when you would call it its ‘golden years’. To me, the game’s great. I’m not bored yet and although I’m not part of the ‘first batch’ of players, i am nostalgic for some times a year ago.
This isn’t just with Rec Room in which players don’t play games as they outgrow it. Minecraft is another example. All the player in 2013 think that that was the ‘golden years’ and that today’s Minecraft is too different. But, the newer players think that the game is great with the new updates.
But that is what many people struggle with, letting go. Many of these comments criticize the game and company and as much as I agree they have become greedy, the commenters have also changed. Letting go is tough, especially when your younger but you let Rec Room rule you for a few years and now, you are more mature to move on. Whichever game you’ll play next, whichever game you’ll get addicted to next, you will eventually move on like you have with Rec Room.
Sorry for my ramblings. I have only played for a year and so I am just a low level guy in this Giga Society of Rec Room Professionals. Don’t let my rant tell you that you are the reason you hate it as that is not true. You are a loyal and caring Rec Room player for many years now and now you can rest. Enjoy the next game you play and don’t let me discourage you.
Been playing since 2018. I remember players back then being super nice and all, wanting to help. Hints to some games here there but no one wanting to actually show said hints. Now days not only do people tell you the hints, they're play the game while showing you or you get complete toxic players in your face.

12:59 I don't like how you brought up the total number of accounts (users=accounts) so I would say each person has 3 alt accounts (I've made over 200 for military game trolling so the number would be inflated and I think the number is even higher but I am overcorrecting). So lots of people have alt accounts and the 3,000,000 would be the amount (in quarter 1) that were MONTHLY connecting ON VR headsets if you say 75% of players were on VR Headsets I think is too high but I am overcorrecting the actual player retention each month to accounts created ever would be 3,750,000/25,000,000=.15 so it would actually be more like 15%. The difference from 4% to 15% is instead of 1/25 it is 3/20 (15% isn't perfect 1/) a rounded down 15 percent would be 1/7. Just saying read the article closely there can be a large difference if you take other factors into consideration.

Rn there's a glitch for some reason where you can't see CV1 Envirronment chips (stay off while configuring and while turned on) (Chips are: Sun light, Fog, Skydome, etc.) Idk if this is happening to others but it's been there for really long and I hate it.
