    I have watched a few of your videos now, and I got to say I really appreciate that you make it so clear when you are gonna blow the whistle. Gives me a few seconds to mute the sound so it doesn’t scare my dogs! Wish more people did that. And thank you for the entertaining videos.

      No problem at all. Remember hearing people whistle and my kids wife and dogs in the house would look up at me and it is awkward. I like to give the warning other people have commented that in other videos I’ve seen and I figured I’d just do it. Thanks for watching I appreciate it a lot! Hopefully more people feel the same way you do

      @@whitetailsurvival2430 100% of dog owners will appreciate that! And the dogs too, it always take a few minutes for them to calm down after the whistle sound.Haha the awkward stare from the family is always a classic to make you feel stupid 😂 I hope you will test the kits outside soon, I am personally very sceptical to this kind of survival kit, and will really enjoy to see how they work outside

      @@TheRubenkjI absolutely will test every component and I may (life with young children permitting) spend a night out in the woods with the more advanced kits maybe even one of the “useless” ones just to prove these things can actually help you out in dire need. Thanks again I appreciate you being here!

    Very few of these kits would sustain you in the wild. When you watch enough you find out you need more.

      I don’t think this is designed to make you survival long term l. I think it’s more of a edc/ survival supplement to help you get through a rough night if you don’t feel like grabbing your pack this could go in your pocket. It definitely would be better to build one for yourself based on your state and environment but this is a cool kit to give people ideas what all could fit in a pocketable kit. I would focus more shelter fire water heavy though

    I have noticed for a long time that many preppers show a mini survival kit on TH-cam, preferably as much as possible in a tin that is too small. When I see what's in it, I have to laugh. In my opinion, it is of little use because half of the content is too small to use properly and the other half is unnecessary. This is a complete waste of money. It is better to use the money to buy the most necessary items separately, then you will also have better quality. But that's my opinion.
    Please do this in combination with reading a good survival book in advance as preparation, otherwise any survival kit will be of no use to you.
    My idea of a useful survival kit: a good fire starter with reliable tinder, such as a few cotton pads or balls that have been treated with Vaseline in advance. Copper wire from the store, a paracord of at least 5 meters and a rain cape that is also suitable as a shelter. Then you can already make a fire and shelter and set a trap. Also a wire saw, a good (pocket) knife, a whistle, some plasters and a roll of (gauze) bandage. rescue blanket, small bottle of disinfectant hand gel, compass, water filter, small flashlight and/or headlamp. A pen and notebook are also useful.
    I may have forgotten something and this is quite a list, but in my opinion it is enough to survive for a few days in the wild.

    • @whitetailsurvival2430
      @whitetailsurvival2430  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you’re right it’s way better to build a kit to keep with you. You know what you need in your environment with your skill set. I like these kits just for the fact it can be tossed in a pocket and used for the parts you need. I like to use these kits for ideas to build my own kits. Some of the stuff is useful and I know I could use it to spend a night in the woods if I had to. Basically to build a good shelter and have a fire is normally good enough to survive a single night. Some of the stuff could be removed and replaced with other items if you choose to do so and adding heavy duty tarp and space blanket would be a big plus. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching I appreciate it!

    I like this Kit I bought it a year ago I got a discount I payed 29.99 it's normally 45 dollars but there's people that will cry about the price and say they can build a kit cheaper and you can but Best Glide was made for the Aviation pilots to have good gear if they crashed or had to eject from there craft but I've used this kit everything they make is good I could survive 2 weeks with this kit

    • @whitetailsurvival2430
      @whitetailsurvival2430  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea it’s a good kit people just like to cause problems that’s all. If it’s good enough for a pilot then if someone has some skills they should be able to get out and survive with it. I got a good deal on mine when I picked it up I should have saved all the prices but I have had a lot of them over a year some of them over 2. I just decided to actually start using the channel a few weeks ago

  • @mrhalfstep
    @mrhalfstep หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You just threw up there that "everybody knows how to use a wire saw" and then went on to show that you don't know how. I ain't hatin', because I had to learn too, after many "experts" told me the wrong way. You got sucked in just like I did. Don't use the wire saw the way you described! That can lead to a broken saw, at worst, or a stuck saw, at best. (OK, sometimes you'll get a stick cut, but it will be the exception, in my experience). It is important to keep the wire as straight as possible. The more you let it arch at the point of the cut, the more likely it is to break or bind. In other words, don't try to cut a limb that's overhead, for instance, using your method. You will end up working the wire up and down instead of side to side and as you cut through the limb the arch will get smaller and smaller and soon you will just be pulling the limb towards you until the wire snaps. Instead, break off a sapling and bend it into a bow, as you would for a bow drill, and loop the rings of the saw over the ends, or if you have a knife, cut a slot in each end to anchor the rings. At that point you can saw in a straight line (just like using a bow saw) and the wire will work as it is intended and will be less likely to bind or break.
    I think you said that you intend to do videos actually using these bits of gear, and when you do, try your way and then try mine. I will graciously concede that I was wrong if you get better results your way. I'm not interested in being right, I just want to help and contribute in my own way. I think you're on the path to try every pocket kit known to man and I approve 👍👍👍

      I say about using a slightly flexible stick as a bow saw every video that has one of these did I not say it in this one? Maybe I missed it on this video or maybe you didn’t hear it. I will be doing videos on testing these products and when I do I will test it both ways for sure! Thanks for the comment!

    • @whitetailsurvival2430

      I went back in and watched that part of the video I didn’t mention about making a wire bowsaw out of it on this video that’s odd for me but I have mentioned it in many other videos! Making these saws into a bow saw is a pretty common practice. Toggles are only really used if you can’t find a stick to make one or if you need to cut the stick to make one! I am by no means a survival expert but I am extremely creative and my problem solving skills are fairly extensive. Another problem with these saws are the heat factor. If used for too long they will literally just snap from the heat no matter how strait you have the saw. They are made for emergency cuts not home building. Thanks again I will remember to mention that in every video forever! It’s not easy to remember everything in every video 😁

      @mrhalfstep หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@whitetailsurvival2430 I watched the video again and I heard you refer to using a stick in each ring as a handhold, but not making a bow from a single stick. I just found your channel and have only seen about 5 of your videos (I liked them so I binge watched them) and this was the first one that involved a wire saw in a kit. Glad you understand about the value of making a bow and I hope you took my comment in the spirit that I offered it. I'm a sub now. ✌

    A gov approved survival kit designed by someone who never even camped in their backyard. Granted it's hard to put much useful stuff in a small tin, but this is a horrible selection.

    • @whitetailsurvival2430
      @whitetailsurvival2430  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea space limits the tools they can put in but In a kit this small I would go with fire heavy and shelter building. That’s really what you’re going to be concerned about with a kit this small. Probably surviving one night in the woods where you got turned around. I would definitely be able to survive a night with this kit. As long as it has means for fire and aid in building shelter I can make a night just fine. These are overnight kits for the average person.

      Of course these kits are not meant to be stand alone kits! They are supplements to the gear you already carry! I have purchased several Best Glide survival tin kits and I find them better than most out there!
