LOUD whistle. VSSL is so high-quality. Beeswax candles are the best, long burn time and multi-use (lip balm, scrapes & bug bites, waterproofing etc.). Always found the VSSL and GearPods kits fascinating, but a bit limiting, and I think a homemade version using a widemouth water bottle is a smart way to accomplish something similar. You can go ultralight with a 500ml Temu bottle, or pack an entire disaster kit in a stainless steel 64oz. Klean Kanteen. Great find WS!
Yea definitely this kit has higher quality items in it the. Some kits plus the kit being milled out makes a cool Factor addition also. The entire kit has always been attractive to me. I love the idea of the water bottle kits. I am going to get a couple of them too review but it is hard to find a decent one. You’re right for sure. The only way to make a good one is to just make it yourself.
Those are the descendants of the pod survival kit. Those were better in my opinion. These are good but pricey as heck. It's also not very pocket friendly. I'm kinda surprised to see them still around because REI cleared theirs out last summer for 20 bucks. The limit was 10. I've repurposed them because that light, compass, water proof tube is bombproof. Excellent presentation
I’ve been intrigued by the VSSL survival tube ever since it first came out, but never quite enough to want to get it at the price ranges it seemed to like to stay at, so it’s interesting to see a review done of it. After having seen it though, honestly…if I ever did get it, I would probably just end up stripping the tube completely and carry the individual tinned modules in pockets.
Dollar Tree sells steel pucks like those, medium and small ones. They can be found in the crafting section. A tea candle will fit nicely in the small ones. The larger ones fit two of Dollar Tree's magic expanding towels. Uh oh, we have a problem. Where are those aquatabs? I can see the mob with torches and pitchforks in the distance.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 they went out of business at least 2 years ago. The owner of Minotaur had talked about buying the rights and re producing them. He went belly up as well. If you can find the shelter kit BUY IT!

As u said B4 u could pack that thing with so much more without those little tins & make a lot of improvements
@@amandamiller94 you could go even less expensive and far more durable by making one from PVC.
Yea your right for sure ditch the tins and alot more stuff will fit
I have one, got it a couple of years ago, never used it but love having it...go figure. Peace from Scotland. Nice video
Thanks for commenting all the way from Scotland! I appreciate it! Definitely a cool kit
Cool kit. Thanks for the look bro.
No problem at all thanks for the view and comment I seriously appreciate it

I think I would ditch the small tins and just use the vessel it would hold a lot of stuff in there for sure
This kit is amazing, very good.
This is definitely a cool uncommon one that’s a different form factor for sure

They were supposed to be in there I was comfortably able to fit 6 in there that’s enough for the bag and the tube to fill up like 12 times at least 😆
Thanks!
Thank you again! I really appreciate it!
Invest in a GearPods module survival kit. Get the wilderness kit. It is way better than any vssl. Vssl has its place but get a GearPod
Getting harder to find.
I will check it out soon I have heard a few people say this but I haven’t found it yet

Do they sell just the tins or individual modules?
I can’t find any on the website as of now but you can find the full kits on the used market for a decent price
@@whitetailsurvival2430 Thanks. Great review.
Different not something I would use though
Yea it’s definitely a different style of kit! It’s expensive for what it is but it’s a cool thing for sure.
