So the "bookhouse" is actually like a book mark. I have one. You use it to hold your place in a book you are reading in leu of a bookmark and it won't break the binding. It's pretty handy and looks nice too. :)

I like all the items in this but I wish it came with a librarian career or a book club event or something more. I think it’s unfair to say this is one of the worst kits when that greenhouse one exists
Book club would be cute! But I think you can do that with Get Together and they would probably get hate for it if they put it in this kit lol.
I think bathroom clutter kit is the worst. If you think people are paying for toilet plumber, toilet paper and used tooth paste... its about 30 itens but only one is functional, and thats a candle. I mean you cant even click in the objects. I would be embarrassed to sell this. Whats next, watch paint dry kit ? including non functional brushes and buckets of paint, wall decals to pretend you are painting walls.
@Augusto you mean the candle that didn't even come with a flame and those non functioning light switches that they ended up adding to the base game anyways 😂 but seriously, the team saw that people like the everyday clutter and were about to go all out until the back lash of the bathroom clutter

Yes! I always thought why don't they have a book club especially with the writers career in Sims 3 especially. And book club for kids too. Being a librarian would be fun either at a school or separate library. And they need coaches for sports at school for a part time job. Or be the cafeteria lady lol

Love that ladder idea. Even it was just decorative. Would have also been nice if there was a book stand both a table book stand and floor book stand. Would have also been nice if they made reading as something you can add to your sims likes/dislikes or maybe add an animation where your sims would have a more cozy sitting animation on couches and love seats at least. I really dislike that most simmers just want things that are decorative, kinda shallow.
i love your ideas especially the animations for cozy reading. but yeah it's very shallow, sims 4 doesn't even have a bookstore to bring it all together.
To be fair I think you can use this kit to build a cozy book themed café =)
It feels very hipster artsy book café, actually. Similar combination of cozy, modern and generic enough that it’ll appeal to most people well enough for the hour or so they drink their coffee lmao.

As someone who loves building home libraries/studies, I was never too fond of the game's bookcases; making wall-to-wall/floor to ceiling shelves never turned out how I wanted it to, so I'm happy to have this kit =)
Imagine a book stuff pack. Creating a book store or library overhaul and create a better reason to read books in the sims. Not sure how they would do it but right now books have very little purpose in the sims and it’s sad. Maybe better moodlets, memory system or a book club?
If you have Get Together, you can create a club where they read books together. I agree though, moodlets from reading should be updated and memories (first book read, favorite book etc.) would be awesome! Now there are skillbuilding books and only a a handful of others worth reading, while most of the books in game just exist.
@@-Chiel yess favorite book would be so cool! More genres, compatibility with people who like similar books, if each sim has the same favorite book they can have a deep conversation about it together and maybe a romantic connection. Trilogies for books and sign up for the next book to come out and can talk to other sims about the new book that’s out. Book snobs and sims who would think they are better than you for liking certain genres compared to others

I actually love this!! I love books and having a dedicated room as a library. So I'm excited
only kit i bought, got desert mix for free and i do use it a lot actually, but this book kit was worth it to me, versatile and gave me so many ideas for building and story lines, so much can be done with those shelves, this is what a kit should be!
I think I actually like this kit. The grunge revival one not so much

As a person who dreams of building like the ultimate library room IRL one day and maybe will never have the space for it, this kit gets to my soul. I litterally build my sims offices around a nice bookshelf.
I’m a huge bookworm, so I love this, lol. What I will love a lot less, is when my sims go to the other end of the lot to read their book outside, in the rain. I’ll have to look the door and teleport them in and out of the library whenever I want them to read.

I love everyday kit and bathroom kit which you call horrific. They were the needed stuff in designing daily lived in homes. they are the best two kits.

this kit does look good and it doesnt only have bookshelves. u dont read much apperantly. its not a kit to be hated on. there are many needless garden thingies and a few clothes ones. this, everyday clutter and bathroom one are best.

tbvh in as much as i think it could just be her brand, i think simsie is just someone who likes playing the game. people expect more criticism from her cause she’s an influencer and all but it’s hard for her to do bc she genuinely enjoys the game.
also she does criticize the game but the same way you might criticize your favorite show or book. like “um the only thing is i wish a didn’t happen but other than that, it’s perfect”
"Bland" is definitely the word. The shelves offer the flexibility of being modular, sure, but they look so boring. On top of that, they once again chose the dull, muted color swatches for everything. My biggest thing with this is the books themselves, though. I kind of get why most of the other books in the game appear like just multicolored bricks, but wouldn't this have been the pack to step it up with the appearance of the books themselves? I love the variety of colors, images, and fonts that appear on my bookshelves IRL. We have plenty of old school, leather-bound library book appearances in-game, so instead give us bookshelves that clearly house a guilty pleasure collection of bodice-rippers... or sci-fi... fantasy... mystery... what have you. Something with personality that sets these books apart from the utilitarian rows and stacks that clutter up the place. This could have been a genuinely fun pack full of character, but it feels like such a wasted opportunity instead.
This!! Totally agree about it not having any character. And yes to the leather bound books. Personally it just looks to me like a bunch of boxes stacked together. Where are those intricately designed bookshelf with beautiful woodwork on the borders or even some drawers or paneling below. My best bet would be on CC.
I kinda like this, only because I like to clutter my builds with books on coffee tables, shelves and stuff. I'm also very happy they threw in some couches because I feel like there just aren't enough couches in the game, even though there's probably a ton, but I always want more haha I dunno if it's worth the price but it's cute.
Honestly i agree! I feel you the kit is cute and you get a fucking couch😭😭 but still sad you dont get more kinda yk? I feel like 5 dollars its alot but luckely i live in norway so it feels alot cheaper! But as a builder this is cute but i wish it was a stuff pack and not a kit😭😭
I love this kit! Its brilliant for builders.... sure we have Dream Home Decorator but the swatches are really bad and dont go with anything. Its really nice to have some modular furniture in decent wood tones, esp with the matching wallpaper and sofa. Its got some really nice useable items in muted colors, also good.
(after Lilsimsie hyping the kit to death we now have SatchOnSims pooping all over it.....balance has been restored! LOL).

i dont know why, but my cat Samantha Jo loves to listen to you talk. My cat Misha not so much, but the other ones ear just perk right up and she listens to every word you say. you know what they say, never trust anyone your animals dont like. so you are definitely a good guy!
The stark contrast from your review to lilsimsie's review of this kit in the side panel is hilarious XD.
They've added more slotting options to things recently for objects in base game. This kit is like them adding slot options to base game book cases and selling it. Modular is just slotting on edges rather than the middle.
Starting to think random things are intentionally made to never match on their own, just so they can sell things that do match.

I don’t really get the point of being so rude and shady about her, I think she genuinely enjoys the game and gets excited by things. She hasn’t loved every kit either. Not everybody is super negative about this game and it’s refreshing. Yes the game has its issues and it is way too expensive but it also has a lot of really enjoyable things to it too.

Would have loved an animation that sims actually “cuddle up” with a book. Like leaning back in the chair/couch, or putting their feet up criss cross. They literally said in the ad “cuddle up”. But sims still sit there like a robot and hold their book in the air for hours.

I dont like kits at all, but i love books, and these shelves seem really nice, so i am at least a little tempted for building nicer bedrooms for my self insert sims!

To be fair, even after your unenthused review this is the first release in a while that kinda makes me want to spend my coins and come back to the game after years lol, but I’m the person whose storage is full of books and I have so many shelves for books in all my spaces IRL so… I probably won’t because I’m a broke bitch but maybe one day. I have 8 full sized, completely filled book cases in my room. I have been waiting for a pack like this forever. If you aren't a big reader, I can see how this wouldn't appeal. The book cases we've had so far are just awful. I've been wanting book cases like the ones I actually have for ages. I know I'll be using them everywhere, like as kitchen cabinets and things. I think this is the second ever kit I'll buy (I bought the plant one as well).
Ok but that book wall staircase, I bet they didn't do this but they absolutely should have made it so pets, especially cats, are able to jump onto those. It would be incredible cross pack compatibility and super realistic.
The real qustion is are those modular shelves gonna end up in my household inventory whenever i reload the lot, like the dhd modulars do? its so annoying replacing them+whatever items that were on them. the only fix i found so far is to replace the lot from the galery or to break down the huge shelving units to a bunch of smaller ones until they stop being bugged (sometimes i cant have more than 2 shelves connected to each other). And its still isnt 100% relaible to fix it. Seeing how those modular shelves are even more finicky with thier snapping im gonna gusse they are just as buggy, but i havent seen any reviews that touch on that so i dont know

You can use the bigger ones on the half walls as well. I made a build today doing that. ☺️
I like the clutter kit personally, I think it makes your house look more realistic
Liking and commenting for not being one of the TH-camrs to say that this is amazing and saying that reading is your favourite thing to do in the sims 🤣 ... And @ The Sims 4 team.. I'll probably still buy this pack as I like to build libraries so just goes to show that you don't need fake reviews to sell packs. Satch is the only Sims person I still follow as I couldn't stand the fakery of others.

Have to admit I really like the stackable bookshelves. But do I like them enough to buy the whole kit? Umm, no, not really. So yet another kit I don't have to spend money on - yay.
Simmers getting excited about paying for this are clinically insane, it makes me think they deserve to waste $1000 on a broken game. It's never gonna get the game fixed if you keep buying every little scrap EA throws our way.
Or everyone should just wait for the sales. Why pay full price?
Still I'm going for it because I love books and I would do a lot with these shelves. I can stack all my high walls with these lol

The lamp matches the blooming room's lamp. Not sure if I like it. Like, two kits don't make a stuff pack!
Being a booklover myself and love building stuff.. I actually like the kit. Most of he other bookshelves look kinda weird to me. 😂
That being said, I still think every Kit's price is too high. Here I was thinking their DLC are already expensive but Kits are more expensive imo. D:

i absolutely love your reactions and this one definitely didn't disappoint lmfao. as a builder i quite liked it, mostly because the idea of getting to create a different "room type" or whatever (even though it isn't literally a new room type) and a lot of the objects are nice and i love the wallpaper so in my mind it's just "decent build/buy kit". As a whole I definitely think we need to be getting more kits and more importantly PACKS with more... idek a good word for it, maybe themed? but like... better.... LMFAO sorry is that mean idk I actually just think a hiatus then Sims 3 Remastered in a few months would be nice

I was actually pretty stoked about this kit, but I will absolutely agree with you that it’s a cash grab and they had SO many missed opportunities with it. The ladder thing you mentioned, a fire place, an angular windowseat (like from Cats and Dogs) that can be used to make a more whimsical reading nook. Hell, they could’ve even thrown in a cookbook stand for the kitchen counter. That would’ve been cute. Seriously it’s like a CC creator gave them a really good idea on paper and the EA team just botched up the execution of it. 😆 but I am excited about the new lights, seating, tables, and the stacked book wall shelf, so there’s another $5 down the drain lol.
At least the candle is functional, which honestly surprises me see as what they gave us in previous kits, with non functional candles and a broken light switch.

Are there any new books to read in this kit? That would be a nice touch on top of these modular bookshelves. Do kits even have debug-menu items ever?
I think you missed that most of the framed posters are the covers of the books in the clutter, so it does go with the theme.
I like the kit overall. Just hope they fix the glitch.

I like the look of this kit, I'm a bookworm, so sure I'm into it, but it is a case of wasted potential yet again imo. They could've added a librarian career, added reading to likes/dislikes, added more book-related dialogue options, or at least a free-standing bookshelf and more bookshop-themed decor.
I think those pictures are the book covers but I wish they add them like framed books with their writer's signature under them. They could've add decorative glasses, bed side reading lamp, a typewriter to write books, cozy arm chairs or indoor swing etc. but they chose modern korean office look I don't know, missed opportunity for my bookworm sims.
Asa writer & reader... they should've given us some extra fireplaces, as well as window benches (with storage space inside/underneath) various coffee/tea mugs for decoration, more candles, throw blankets our Sims can actually use, pictures inspired by classic novels sionce they're in the public domain, some journal/notebook clutter, bookmarks to use as clutter, and the effing ability to start a freaking neighborhood book club. Give me time, I'll think of more.
This will look good for my sims 2 game :) I just need for them to be converted 😂

You're laugh always cracks me up😂! I like this kit but still in the air with purchasing it. I'm changing the subject, but I would really like for the Sims4 to add to the Seasons. I wish there was seasonal weather disasters like Sims City. Not get hit by a tornado everyday but maybe weather warnings and maybe some damage or flooding. Not every year either and be able for it to be automatic or manually simulated. Then part of a memories is to make the Sim afraid of thunderstorms after especially during that season, etc. In which I had my Vampire freak out about thunderstorms the other day lmao😂 I think all the worlds are compatable with detrimental weather of some sort. or earthquakes, or residual hurricane weather to happen. Idk. Just a thought. Or the basement floods and you have to have a repairman or purchase a machine to get the water out lol. Or power goes out for 2 days and you need candles and a cooler for food or purchase a generator. (I see snowflakes eco friendly the crap out of this. Not a bad thing to teach environmental safety.) Hopefully the generator doesn't blow up. And you have to get rid of spoiled food. Maybe a blizzard and no power but a fireplace or fire pit outside etc. How you would cook with it too. I want a new Strangerville too. More creepy zombie apocalypse too. I feel like the zombies on sims 3 attacked more lol. But back to the weather Jack lol. I live in Tornado Alley. So this season is always ominous and unpredictable with weather. We even get earthquakes, flooding, heatwaves, allergies are crazy, etc! !!! So Help EA! With getting me out of Oklahoma or let me play it in the Sims with inclement weather. With a possible zombie apocalypse too😂😂😂

I'm planning to renovate the libraries in the game now. But i am excited about the modular shelves, because i'm playing a very long legacy and i've been completing the collections and career rewards.
I'm surprised they haven't made actually book nooks.
my biggest problem as a builder is too many outlandish build assets. we've been needing more plain boring things for a while and this kit is exactly that. sorry but i love it
