    I've been growing bean, alfalfa, onion etc sprouts at home for over forty years and, while the method here is sound, it's much more sustainable to use glass jars with holes in the lid. You can use them over and over, they're easy to clean and much easier to get the sprouts out of. I also think that using glass means that you don't risk any contamination from plastic and you can sterilize them regularly. I can also put the jars straight in the fridge when the sprouts are ready if I don't want to use them straight away. The draining is simple too - you simply turn the jar on its lid once you've watered it to drain it. I'd also add that it's a good idea to turn the container regularly as that makes it less likely for any sprouts to die and rot. You still lay the jars on their sides as is done here.
    Good tutorial on growing them but I'll stick to my glass jars :)

    I watched "How to grow Mung Bean Sprouts" on hete. I use glass jars.....put the seeds in them. Take the top out if the jar lids and put net on top of jar lids...screw on lid. every moring I rinse wth water. Turn jar upside down & drain water out. Cover glass jars with a dish towel so it will be dark. Ater about 3 days I have lots of sprouts. LOVE THEM...GREAT on sandwiches and salads.
    Thank You for sharing this.

    I don't know why some people are saying this is a lengthy process. It looks as though sprouts are ready to eat in 4 days. The average for soil (or traditional jar methods with mesh top) is 7-10 days, so I'd say you saved us some time with this method! My theory is that the enclosed construction of it provides better insulation for adequate heat compared to other methods and speeds up germination! Thanks for the valuable tip! I will give it a try as I have a few empty bottles lying around the house!

    4 days with those complications for this length of sprout ?
    Just simply pour the overnight soaked bean spread in flat container and cover with damp cloth, water for 3 days.
    They’re much taller and more even.

    Learn to grow sprouts in stainless steel colander baskets, much easier to grow this way, its non-toxic, and your sprouts will have much room to grow and aerate. I am surprised there wasn't any mold growth in this bottle.

    I do the same, but in a glass bottle... More: the plastic pollute the sprouts. Never use plastic to grow sprouts.

    • @XCreation
      @XCreation  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I don't think so, if u use s glass bottle, you will not punch around!

    • @rodibremo
      @rodibremo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Why complicate. Use a glass bottle with a wide opening and a strainer for all operations. More, you dont have to drink first 1.5 liter of toxic beverage.

      I only use organic seeds, glass container and cotton strainer: simple and easy to use and clean. I eliminate all possible pollution.

    I wanted to try this. I used an empty 16.9 ounce water bottle. I have lots of mustard seeds. I used 1/4 cup of seeds (maybe too much). It's day three and the bottle is filled with sprouted seeds and white tap roots. I kept the bottled covered with a t shirt. Did you keep your bottle of sprouts in the dark all the way through or did you put them in sun when the tap roots emerged? Pretty cool, microgreens in an empty water bottle 😊

    Looks good but very tedious method. You can just clean wash the green moong n soak it in Luke warm water overnight. Next day transfer it to your strainer close it with lid n keep in a warm place. That's all , you will find sprouts coming up. Only 2 days it takes.

    I assume the micro-plastics that make their way into the sprouts when you cut open the bottle merely serves to enhance the taste--along with the fine aroma of BPA which covers the sprouts in an exquisitely fine layer.

    Instead of that WIDE "H" CUT... I---------I, just make a cut AROUND the bottle, so you'll get a top and bottom halves, which can be easily be attached and detached from each other.

    Too complicated way,I just did it by soaking the bean in one day ,then drain it .And then use wet kitchen towels put on the bowl/strainer , before the bean, and cover wit wet kitchen towels too.Keep it over night then done, if we want to get more longer can keep again for few days.
