    Thank you for your response. Here is my brief story of KeePass application, which has worked flawlessly until Google changed the security rules and destroyed my entire system. I use KeePass2 (not PassKey, my frustration coming out), KeePass2 Android, a PC with the database in Google Drive on the Windows side, and a Pixel2 Android phone. What had worked is having Drive autosync with with the PC based KeePass database so that the database was always current between the Drive and the Windows PC. The Android was set to autosync with Drive. That no longer works. I've tried Drivesync, but too complicated to get it to work, KPSync, but too complicated to get it to work.
    Your videos are fantastic, well done, your presentation is professional, and well organized, but you've edited them down so that they are extremely fast (for some of us). The 3 step process sounds wonderful, but you spent more time on passwords than step 3 where I thought I needed most help. At this point I am unable to safely use the Android side and I'm back to pen and paper when away from the home office. I know you can help. I'm willing to try other methods.

    Just so you know, when you copy your password to clipboard, you lose all security you think you have, as every app on your phone can see what's in your clipboard.
    You can circumvent this by getting Keypass 2 android keyboard for when you need to type in passwords as it can access the database directly.

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, using the autofill feature or KeePass2Android keyboard is a lot more secure. But unless you have an app on your smartphone that intentionally tries to steal that data, this shouldn't be a problem.

    • @RyderDK
      @RyderDK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@ValentinKossenko but point is, you don't know if they are out to steal your data. If no one had that motive, security would not be necessary. Better safe than sorry in my opinion.

      Hi, that's why I'd suggest to transfer the keyfile to your device using something else than Dropbox, preferrably a cable. If you rename the file to something else, it will still work as a keyfile but look less suspicious too. No system is 100% safe, but we can try our best to make it as safe as possible. Great video. Thanks! I am opening a database stored in Dropbox on my Android with Keepass2Android. If I make a change on my PC, it automatically updates the dropbox file with a triggered event. However, when I open the database on Dropbox with Keepass2Android, the changes do not appear until I hit from Synchronize database from the pull-down menu. Under app settings, File Handling, I have unchecked Database caching and Local Backups, but this problem still exists. Is there a way to get Keepass2Android to automatically synchronize when opening the database. I don't understand where the 'stale' copy exists on my Android if Database caching and Local Backups are unchecked. Thanks.

If so, do you have a video explaining this for an old dinosaur like me? I have up to date Keypass on windows 10 laptop and want a copy, which I can sync on my android phone. If so, is there a particular keypass I should download to my phone? Thanks!!

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can download the same KeePass2Android software on your Android smartphone. If you want to be as safe as possible, you'll have to give up on some comfort though and have to manually transfer your most up to date database from either your computer to your smartphone or vice versa. If you use an additional keyfile on top of your password, like I suggest in one of my other videos about the desktop version of KeePass (link in video description) though, safety is pretty high already and if you are careful with your Dropbox and have 2 factor authentication enabled, your passwords should be quite safe. No system is 100% safe, but these methods should make it as safe as necessary.

      I was using a laptop keyboard here or what do you mean exactly? If you're asking about my laptop it's a Dell XPS 15 9560. I usually use a CoolerMaster MasterKeys Pro L keyboard with MX Brown switches though.

      Is it safe to use a keyboard? I ask this because I was researching that keyboards can store clipboard information

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Alex-nf5uz They can, but if you don't use any type recommendations, this shouldn't be stored for longer periods of time, especially with the native keyboards. Not so sure about 3rd party applications though. If you use KeePass2Android it will also clear your clipboard information after a while automatically.

    How about a tutorial using google drive for sync between other devices

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already explain how to set it up with Dropbox in the main video you can find in the description. Setting up Google Drive is not a lot different. You can always ask me if you run into any problems and I'll be glad to help you out. If there's more demand, I'll consider creating another video explaining how to set it up with Google Drive though. :)

      Should be using the native Android Biometrics Encryption for that if I remember correctly.

    How do I create my key?

      I will soon create a new video where I will explain everything in even more detail. I think creating a key file on a computer with the KeePass application would be the easiest thing to do for now.

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      DX is a great little app for sure that is purely offline and will be the better choice for paranoid people. I find Keepass2Android a little easier to setup though as it allows you to use Dropbox syncing more natively.

    Da Sicherheit die größte Priorität ist, habe ich 2 Anmerkungen:
    1. Biometrische Daten sind vergleichsweise unsicher, denn sie können reproduziert werden und liegen scheinbar unverschlüsselt in den Datenbanken. Quelle: th-cam.com/video/tJw2Kf1khlA/w-d-xo.html
    -> Mir scheint es jedoch unlogisch, warum diese nicht genau so gehasht werden sollten, wie normale Passwörter auch.
    2. Die Polizei kann, meines Wissens nach, deinen fingerabdruck einfordern oder dein Gesicht scannen aber sie darf durch das Gesetz keine Passwörter erzwingen. Für die meisten ist das kein Problem aber für Aktivisten kann dies wichtig sein.
    Ich persönlich habe eigentlich nur gefährliches Halbwissen😉! Deshalb nehmt es bitte nicht für Bare Münze aber ich wollte es mal in die Runde geschmissen haben, auf das andere vllt. Wert daraus ziehen können.
    Beste Grüße

      Hi, deine Nachricht ist leider im "Spam" gelandet - vermutlich wegen dem Link im Kommentar. Ich habe ihn nun aber freigegeben und bin dir sehr dankbar für deine Anmerkungen. Ich habe mir das Video angesehen und bin tatsächlich etwas schockiert. Das hatte ich so irgendwie gar nicht auf dem Schirm. Auch der Hinweis zu den Fingerabdrücken und der Polizei macht so absolut Sinn. Komfort kommt eben oft zum Preis von geringerer Sicherheit, so auch bei biometrischer Authentifizierung. Danke für diesen super Kommentar!
