Alexey Pajitnov and Henk Rogers from The Tetris Company meet the designer of Threes Asher Vollmer and discuss game clones, the legacy of Tetris, and the power of randomness in game design.
Because this is a very niche topic. 20 minute video about game devs talking about block-type puzzle games is niche and won't have hundreds of thousands of views.
@@Brinta3 whoops, definitely missed a few words in there, I edited it to make it more clear. Basically, Henk talks like he wrote this amazing RNG algorithm but in many early versions of tetris some bricks had as little as a 10% chance to spawn (pretty bad considering there are 7 bricks), and some bricks that spawn over 30% of the time
Glad to see Alexey and Henk still being close and like a force to be reckoned with. They are both very honest men.
nice advice. Make a game which focuses/forces you to develop/grow a skillset.
this is an extremely interesting video. damn.
Henk always wearin the dopest tetris drip lol
Probably one of the best videos ever
Imagine Alexey Pajitnov consoling you for the legal issues you've run into with your original game concept.
The Tetris Company guy was about to pull out a lawsuit against Asher Vollmer then stopped...
Shit it was so tense lmao
@@TKFTGuillotine after every thing alexey went through to see a single penny from his game, the tetris company is aggressive about it
“If your friend says ‘that’s Tetris’ then there’s a problem”.
Damn, dude. I had no idea my friend’s slapdash opinions were the be all end all lol.
1:40 look at henk roger's face lmao
the main mechanics are not protectable
Who’s here after watching the movie TETRIS? 🤚🏻🤚🏻🤚🏻
Alexey have interesting pronounce
Tetris such a Russian game which is more surprisedly popular and famous than any of Japanese game as Mr Alexey says
Alexey Pajitnov and Shigeru Miyamoto are pretty much the gods of the gaming industry
Star Trek (1971) definitely had random number generators, but of course Unix had RNG built in. Lots of games were random, like Rogue (1980)
lmfao the Tetris guy in white
Wesley his name is Henk Rogers
Henk rogers moment
How does this video have less than 5000 views?
I guess , because now peoples like much the false ..

Henk rogers thumbs up
I prefer the random generator of the Guidelines, the bag system. It's way more fair!
Yes but you can also play infinitely and never lose so long as you can keep up with the speed.
I kinda feel bad since I like 2048 but I've never heard of Threes.
Tetris game
Henk talks a big game about his RNG development for a dude who created a game that made you only have a 10% chance to get an L piece.
Could you rewrite that sentence? It doesn’t make any grammatical sense at all, and I have no idea what you were trying to say.
