I am glad Alexey Pajitnov was recognized as the owner of the game and received the copyright after the fall of communism in the USSR.

Geat talk, very interesting. It's inspirering to heare from the creator of a game, that almost everyone on this planet knows about. It's everywhere nowadays and it's still holding it's place among all the other new stuff. This game is legendary.
I look at Mr. Pajitnov, as the Notch of the 80's. Cause Minecraft is on a good way, to become as popular, as Tetris.
    Greetings from germany!

I'm glad Alexey's story had a happy ending. One of the first people involved in Tetris went on to murder his wife and 12 year old son before taking his own life after his post-soviet game development/3D animation company AnimaTek, which developed El-Fish among other games, was about to go bankrupt. His name was Vladimir Pokhilko. His suicide note was short and incoherent and had some strange reference to Satan.

@Taco Bell Valet Well Russia has a reputation of mysterious deaths but this is usually the mysterious deaths of journalists and government opposition figures, not software engineers, lol.

Tetris DS and that new Tetris 99 on switch are the two tetris games I like and prefer these days on a Nintendo system. Don't mind the originals back on the computer too.

I still think Henk is leaving out the part where the Russians at ELORG broke his nose and kept punching with the same hand.

Not gonna lie, and I don't want to sound like an ass or anything, but knowing that Alexey left Russia in the early 90's to Seattle, I'm surprised he has a thick Russian accent. I have a Russian friend who I went to high school with in Argentina, and had a thick russian accent mixed with spanish from Spain, but nowadays he has a very fluent latin american spanish.

Your friend was young when he moved out from Russia, that's the biggest factor. The other one is that English was taught very poorly in USSR (my grandfather gave me his Ru-En pocket dictionary of common phrases when I was 5 in 90s and it was garbage from any point, printed in 1988) , the notorious accent came from those times.
Might sound rude, I think your friend didn't want to learn proper Spanish at the time since Russian language is actually close to Spanish in phonetics.
