I like the guys you would have preferred. They will likely be long-time NBA players. It’s my opinion that the Warriors bringing in another wing would have caused internal problems. We have Wiggins and Kuminga at the SF spot with Santos improving consistently. Despite Brandon making 5 point guards on this roster, it’s clear who is going to play this year. He’ll have all year to work on his game in the G-League. Next year the Warriors will potentially not re-sign Chris Paul or Cory Joseph. Those guys are there to win a chip this coming season. Depending on the contract negotiations with Klay, the Warriors may be able to move Chris Paul’s Contract for a lower paid but properly fitting big such as Myles Turner. I am eager to see if Chris Paul will embrace leading our talented young guys. I agree the players you mentioned are likely to succeed. I believe the reasoning is because the Warriors need to get Kuminga minutes. And not all first round draft picks are humble enough to thrive in a “next-up,” situation. Brandon can shoot like Steph. Now he needs to learn to play the NBA game. I am confident that he will be very good in 2 to 3 years. He’ll be backing up Steph until time causes their roles to reverse. The never-ending dynasty is still in-play from what I can see!

Coming out of college everyone agreed Podz could shoot, but there were questions about his playmaking ability. Now, after Summer League, everyone agrees he can be a playmaker, but question his ability to shoot. I believe Podz will learn how to put it all together after a year in the G-League. I'm sure Podz will, at least, be a quality backup PG to Curry.

He just needs confidence and to look for it. It will be better as he plays with better talent. TJD showed he can impact the game without being fed the ball in the post, and Podz showed good IQ and he is starting to pick up the system.

I think TJD skill set will get him minutes straight away, another big who we can through in to relieve Dray and Loon. But we just need Moody and JK to make a significant jump where they’re irreplaceable in the rotation.

  • @Chris_Swish_OtM
    @Chris_Swish_OtM ปีที่แล้ว +18

Sup Alch, I can see TJD getting the most consistent minutes out of the young bucks just because of positional need.
I can see TJD getting most of his minutes as the small ball 5 with Saric as the stretch 4. As long as he can grab defensive rebounds I can see TJD getting a solid 8-10 minutes a night.
For Podz I think it will be much harder for him to crack the rotation and I can see him spending lots of time in the G-league this season and mostly get garbage minutes or big minutes on those second end of back to back games.
Lester I can see getting minutes if we have an injury or need to load manage Steph and CP3. If they go down boom, Lester should get an opportunity. I saw him live in some of his call up games last season at Chase and he looked really uncomfortable out there. I’m hoping he can take his momentum from SL and play just as confident with the big boys.
The key to these guys getting minutes will be if they can perfect the details. Which is defense without fouling, securing rebounds, and keep the ball moving. That goes for JK and Moses too.
All in all I like this roster much better than last season. And I think we will coast to a top 4 seed in the playoffs this season by improving on our road record.
I’d like to see us add a final big man to the rotation just in case someone gets hurt. McGee would be ideal but if not I’d be okay with someone like Biombo.
Player needs to be okay with DNP’s and be a emergency break glass type of player that we can throw at certain matchups. (Giannis, Embiid, Joker, Ayton, AD). Which is why I would go with them over someone like Christian Wood who is more talented but could become a problem if he doesn’t get consistent minutes.
Imagine if Looney got a serious injury to his hips or knees and needs 3-4 months off during the season? We don’t think about it because he’s such an iron man, but what if? Are we prepared? Or would the whole season in jeopardy? As much as I love Saric and TJD, that would be a lot to ask of them. Why not secure someone as an insurance policy and be able to give Looney some actual relief.
I think we’re deep enough at guard, so i’d like to pick up an extra big body or wing defender if we’re against signing another big man.

I think he will age like wine in this system, the question is can TJD develop a consistent midrange jumpshot? Not that he needs it (like looney) but I think that will be something they work on with him as he develops. I too enjoy seeing the younger guys show up for summer league. I got to see Kobe Bryant at 17 suit-up for the Lakers the very first time at Cal State Long Beach. That’s where Summer League occurred for a while and that’s where I was attending college. It was like $3 for an all-day pass to sit almost anywhere in the pyramid to watch. Kobe was beyond words. He made it look like nearly everyone else should just go home, lol! Ray Allen was phenomenal. A reason in addition to avoiding injury is the players see it as a sign of disrespect to be sent to summer league when they are champions and technically veterans. Their confidence matters. It’s a delicate subject that each team must make about every player they are developing. Unfortunately it’s not like back-in-the day when Magic Johnson of all people would show-up to run in summer league. Back then it was a pathetic presentation down at the UC Irvine. The NBA has done a great job of turning summer league into a must-watch event for fans.

Cam looked great, but for the Warriors’ purposes he is more of a Jabari Parker type of player. Strong offensive skills and a big strong guy. He doesn’t fit what the Warriors look for. Considering they recently unloaded Jordan Poole giving a future first rounder, the player’s character is as important as their abilities. I think the Rockets is a great landing spot for Cam. He should get time and be effective in their system. Kris Murray will be good, but then he would have three young and talented players ahead of him. That draft pick would send a message to Kuminga and Moody that they are being replaced. Continuity matters. Last year proved it.

I absolutely love your show. The two draft picks are each ideal for the Warriors. Brandon was running the point as is his natural position. He will need to learn better defensive tactics. He showed excellent passing and shooting skills. I think with some seasoning he could be our starting point guard after Steph is done. Brandon will adjust and learn. He needs time in the G-League. The Warriors have 5 point guards on the roster. There is no pressure for him to perform yet. Stephen Curry couldn’t play defense when he entered the league. The man’s shot is amazing. Brandon is a natural point guard and the coaching staff obviously pushed him to work on running the team. He’ll spend a lot of time in Santa Cruz. In a couple of years Brandon will be ready. He has better potential than Jordan Poole is showing.
Trayce is what the Warriors desperately needed. The NBA is still figuring out how bigs will be used. Trayce will be useful immediately.
The Warriors 2-Way Contracts if I we’re choosing would be SG Lester Quiones, SF Gui Santos, and PF/C Reggie Perry.
Finally, the 11:29 Warriors need a legitimate big still. I understand why the Warriors are waiting on Javalle McGee. He knows the system. C Myers Leonard is an ideal fit over McGee in my opinion.
I’d love to see our Warriors throw a curve ball at the entire NBA by starting PG Chris Paul, SG Moses Moody, SF Jonathan Kuminga, PF Trayce Jackson, and C Dario Saric. I would let that unit run the other teams starters out of the gym or get them in foul trouble. After the first five to ten minutes of the first quarter I would insert my best 5 and let them eat. It’s a form of load management. We all know who ends games matters more than who starts. So, I would love to see Steve Kerr be more strategic about how he uses his players. Last season when the young guys started due to injuries, they were competitive against everyone.
Wiseman may be a quality big by his ninth or tenth year in the league. He’s a project and currently the poster child for inefficiency. His interior defense is atrocious. That draft I had hoped the Warriors would trade back as the Pistons had 3 picks. I would have taken C Onyeka Okungwu and SF Saddiq Bey along with a future unprotected first rounder for that 2nd overall pick. The Pistons would have happily given-up the #5 and one of their other two mid-first round picks. But the Warriors tried to fit a square peg in a round hole. The draft comes with risks. The Warriors did right by themselves and by Wiseman when they traded him.
Now we need one more big who can rebound, defend, and hit the open shot. I would even consider filling the 15th roster spot with a big as well. We need them now as the Lakers proved. I’d be happy with the last two roster spots being bigs on one-year 50% guaranteed contracts. The last two roster spots ideally would be Javelle McGee and Myers Leonard. I would be happy with Boban or Bismack if we can’t get Javelle.
I truly enjoy your show! Please continue the excellent content! Go Warriors!

Alc is oddly optimistic about the rookies. Usually in this situation I'm honestly not that impressed from the rookies but I'll have to wait and be patient and see if Podz gets better. Podz with my eye test looks too frail, 0 quickness and doesn't look like a pure shooter. He has that quick release, D Lo like release and shooters like that are usually very inconsistent. So he's weak, not explosive and not clearly skilled from a scoring perspectives but you never know.I remember when he was high on Poole in 2020 and I thought he was crazy. Pretty annoying that they haven't gone out of the way to repeat the success they had with Draymond and Iggy as point forwards. They haven't drafted or signed or traded for anyone with their skillset. The motion offense desperately needed ball movers.
I agree CP3 isn't a good fit and hopefully traded to fill holes.

@@GBnHawaii most underrated what the combo of dray & Iggy meant because ppl look only at #s (like triple single -shyt it takes to win). 2 defenders 2 great passers & high IQ.
I remember Gay as shooter/scorer - not as play maker and he keeps getting bounced around?
But we need to see JK unleashed to see what we have. If it’s spotty play, bunch of DNPs while guys like Lamb or Jerome eat up minutes - he will become vocal -add that to Paul seemingly not understanding he’s a backup now- could be locker room trouble.
Moody, Joseph, Lester, GP, Jk -already a log jam of guys who want to breakout or remain on an NBA roster.

    • @GBnHawaii
      @GBnHawaii ปีที่แล้ว

Gay isn't needed but Curry mentioned wanting to play with him before and he'd be a great vet... plus high jersey sales in sf. He's older and fallen off a bit so probably past his window.
      Curry CP3 Joseph
      Klay GP2 Moody (Lester) Podz
      Wiggins Kuminga (Santos)
      Draymond Saric
      Looney TDJ
Warriors have the best point guard trio in the league, and it's not close... but no one else can create for others or put the offense on their shoulders.
The rest of the roster is pretty good if they're actually running the offense through backup God CP3 and not a point forward like in the past. They didn't go after any defensive bigs. They didn't go after any defensive point forwards. It's really a strange evolution... I guess they're hoping for injury riddled play-off opponents again?
Cam would have been a great pick for a trading package or to push the tempo. That would have made the bench so physical and given then another gear. Podz isn't any better than Ty Jerome.

@@GBnHawaii I forgot about Gay until his name was mentioned in trades recently-didn’t kno he was still in the league.
Buy It is a strange evolution that you have Paul, Joseph and then drafting Podzi (who i believe might have gone undrafted) was the route they went. Especially Podzi with Paul, lester & Joseph? Dude couldn’t get on the floor at Illini -why he transferred.
It was clear they needed someone who can “cook” -get their own shot (like what Lonnie walker did to Dubs). Wiggs just doesn’t have the motor.
Plus a rim protector to help aging perimeter defenders. When Teams decided to play downhill they got to the basket at will- I don’t get it?
JK & Wiggs highly rated defenders (by some metric both top 10 but did you ever see them on the floor together?
If you drafting a guy & don’t care if they play- or thinking they won’t (which Podzi won’t) why not take Cam or, the long kid from Bama who can shoot just to see?
