There are 2 types of watchbands for the New Cartier Santos quickswitch strap.
Type 1: Both sides of the leather straps are the same length, it requires double-folded Cartier deployment buckle.
Type 2: One side of the leather strap is shorter than the other. There are holes on the leather strap. It requires single-folded Cartier deployment clasp.

If my band is 18mm do I buy a 18mm buckle or size up to a 20mm buckle for easier fit?

If your watch band lug size is 20mm, normally buckle is 18mm.
If your watch band lug size is 18mm, normally buckle is 16mm.

Yes I have a similar one. You can't even feel it!

Cartier is the only company invest double folded type watch band, it would fit either small or large wrist, adjustable and comfortable.

Yes. Large Cartier Santos lug size is 21mm for watch end and 18mm for the buckle end.
Medium Santos is 19mm for watch end and 16mm for the buckle end
