    [Message from AL & HELEN]
    Hey everyone.
    Hope everyone is doing well, and thank you for tuning into another episode of Asianalysis.
    Before moving into the video,
    I’d like to just mention the fact that whenever we create content on a sensitive social issue such as the one of today’s video, we’ve had times when some of our viewers got quite, let’s just say emotional in the comments section, making certain negative remarks to the other commenters for providing viewpoints that do not agree with their opinions. And such comments containing profanity, or plain and simple taking things too far against another commenter will immediately be blocked and deleted.
    But with that said, as there are no definitive answers to social questions in the lines of 1+1=2, a thoughtful discussion showing the different types of opinions in which every individual has, is also more than necessary.
    So let’s keep the comments between each other respectful, and we always appreciate your love and support.

    Based on my decade-plus years of experience living in Japan, our book will mainly be of fruit for reaching two goals:
    1.Maximizing utility that is to be had in a Japanese setting, or a setting composed of Japanese people, by being able to understand why they do what they do (and not just sit there and complain of how they do things so differently)
    2.Avoid the years of trial-and-error and pain in which I had to personally face when interacting with people from this island nation, composed of individuals whose psychological framework was by far the most idiosyncratic to that of people from any other countries in which I’ve lived in (South Korea, UK, Australia, China, Malaysia, etc)

    The GLAM member who became a BJ was Kim Si Won. And she was flirting/having an affair (I don't remember) with Lee Byung Hun who was married at that time. But Kim Si Won's extortion became bigger news and she was thrown under the bus.
    Fun fact, GLAM was Bang Si-Hyuk's first group before he created BTS. GLAM was destroyed by the scandal and Bang Si-Hyuk swore off girl groups after the scandal stating girl groups were "too much drama".

      I found it funny how most of the "simping problems" hardly are just "simping problems"
      in the case you talk about that person did in fact blackmail someone who was cheating = it's not a "black and white" thing or crime where typical moral compass say "this person sucks":
      Even the first case has the girl actually paying a rather big fine for literally getting a few free meal, which seemingly the author is not seeing as enough of a punishment.
      The problem there is not that "those did not get cancelled"
      It's the that "the other DID get cancelled"
      Second part of the video is basically the same as the problems with idol simps (which is not so dissimilar from what happened in the past with tulips for example )

    You should do an analysis on the Fat Cat story from China. Basically Fat Cat is a video game carrier (sells carrying service for MOBA games) and he started dating a woman online. Kept on asking for money from him for various reasons and drained roughly $100K USD from him and broke up with him cause he no longer has the funds to support her financially. Then he committed suicide. The crazy thing is it has caused such an outcry online in China that apparently there are groups on telegram putting a bounty on her head (there are screen shots), and there has been videos of ppl literally fake asking her out to hotel parties and then slapping the shit out of her. While I don't condone violence, the reason why netizens got so mad is because she and her friend claimed no responsibility in Fat Cat‘s death and immediately begin looking for the next target. There are also screenshots of her arguing with Fat Cat's family and saying he deserved it. Not to mention she cheated on him while they were dating.

    • @namphuongnguyen8569

      I know the case you’re talking about and it’s gotten pretty big in Vietnam (where I’m from). The evidence against his ex-gf have been disproven and all the messages of her asking for money were faked or taken out of context. Fat Cat’s sister allegedly fabricated evidence against the ex-gf to avenge for his death.

    • @namphuongnguyen8569
      @namphuongnguyen8569 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The attacks on her weren’t reported here but allegedly she’d also contacted the family after Fat Cat’s s*icide and has returned the money that was last sent to her. Fat Cat also allegedly gave her the money WILLINGLY to support her flower shop business and she’d also refused taking his money on a couple of occasions.

      So I know of this case and it was really popular where I’m from. Turns out allegedly Fat Cat’s gf never cheated, it was all fabricated by his sister as revenge against the gf. Also allegedly, the gf initially refused to take the money from Fat Cat and paid off the amount owed to his family after his passing. The money sent to her were actually sent towards a mutual account where they both put money into for her flower shop. In the end his attempt and ending life was speculated to be because of his declining mental health as he was earning money online for days on end with little to no rest, and the break up just added onto his stress.

  • @dr.peashooter
    @dr.peashooter 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +34

    As Vtuber fan who has seen many similar cases to this problem, i'd like to add on a few information:
    - In regard to the murder of C's mother, this dude is often called as an unicorn, who believes that their streamers have to belong them with an incel-like mindset (i give u my affection and u have to repay it) and would do the most heinous crime to protect the sense of parasocialism they maintain
    - A lot of men end up being simps is due to the fact that they cannot feel the sense of self-respect and validation to themselves. This is often caused by a societal hierarchy, creating many miserable men who believes themselves to be incels (in this case is usually described as men who believe they are incompatible with romantic or affection from opposite gender). The low self-esteem men could also be a result of neglect from the real life world, often from the form of bullying, ghosting or a lack of community sense, isolating these people, which in turn make them turn to the digital world, because to them: At least the streamer wouldn't abandon me

    Simping is a symptom of disaffected men, not the cause. Make no mistake, I despise it, but BJs could disappear, the simps would still destroy their lives with another vice. One person had an erotomanic delusion and would have likely latched on to a more traditional celebrity if not for the BJ. Super fans who think giving away hundreds of whatever currency they use in either donations, tips or merch sales will make whatever entertainer, influencer or e-girl/guy like them more
      It’s ok to say “oh I like this entertainer, they’re cool and I have a couple bits of merch I bought a while ago and a photo with them during this event or sale to remember it”. Then you’re a fan.
      You’re a simp if you go to every event or stream, donate large amounts of money every stream and buy ungodly amounts of merch every event and get mad if the person dares to engage in the normal actions of finding a significant other because you think that the “thank you” for the donation or for being a fan at a meetup means that they are totally into you.

    If you examine popular South Korean streamers who have more diverse viewerships (e.g., Chimchakman, Woojunging), you'll find that their content closely resembles legacy media (e.g., talk shows, movie or game reviews) and popular TH-camrs. You'll discover that their content is generally much healthier than that of Western streamers. Choosing the extreme outliers in the scene, you are generalizing them to represent the entire online broadcasting culture in Korea.
