  • This is part two of checking the valve clearances on a Triumph Thunderbird 1600 and only my second video ever.
I've got the cam cover off and have checked clearances with a couple of observations along the way.
I hope you enjoy and find it useful.

I've a 2011 storm with 8k miles so far (I know it's a lot, I just bought it), I'm hesitating opening the cover to remove the decompressor before it breaks (if it hasn't already), would you advise letting it in place or removing it? I could also do the valve clearance check btw but I don't think it's off tolerance because the engine runs fine so far. Only a kind of rattling when starting cold the first second.

Hi Terminator, not sure I understand what you are actually asking here! What makes you think the decompressor is going to break?

@@PB-yt7bf hello, just because it seems to happen to a lot of owners before the 12k miles overhaul and once broken, it's too late, there's a chance not finding all the parts on the cylinder head. I've seen it's only for extreme cold start with weak battery and it's more a piece of junk than something really useful. Anyway thx.

Ok, I wasn't aware that this was an issue. Sold the Thunderbird two years ago so haven't needed to do any further servicing. The bike was always a right bugger to work on!!!RegardsPB
