- Here is a wormer we are using that is helping. A handful of mature does are struggling to recover and your typical wormers are not helping so we are using this Prohibit wormer.

Good tips. Those worms can be brutal. The close up of the famancha was spot on.
Thank you

Thank you for always being upon whats going in your herd and thank Uncle Joe for all he do also for the herd keep up the good work FAMILY
Thank You
Appreciate you watching
I am please you checked and only gave the wormer to the goats that needed - I live in NZ where the Kiko were developed and those does that needed worming would go through their waiting period after drenching get fattened up and sent for harvest - that is why the Kiko is such a great breed because there was no tolerance for worm loads, bad mother or bad feet
Yes I understand that.
Thanks for watching
****🌺Josh, Brooke & Jason Smith over at Cog Hills had a problem with their goats and the workers this year also. They had a vet do a few fecals and then had to do 3 stages to theirs?? It was just different but then it worked I believe.
I need to check that out.
I use prohibit on my kiko/boer crossed goats. Those white wormers have not worked (in Florida anyway) for 8-10 years. I also use ivermectin, the injectable administered orally as a drench. One trick I've learned for really stubborn cases is to pin the goat(s) up with only water for at least a day, then administer prohibit or ivermectin.
That’s a good tip. Thanks we don’t have much luck with the white wormers either we typically mix white & clear.
Appreciate you watching
Praying 🙏 for healing ❤️🩹
Thank You so much
Thanks for the in info. Great video. The health needs is what I am weak in when it comes to raising goats. We are slowly building our infrastructure for raising goats. Plans are to have goat and electric fencing to secure them. Awesome video, well done.
Thank you
We appreciate you watching
Thanks for sharing Josh good looking goats as all ways

When their eyelids get white, I give them a shot of iron along with dosing them with two dewormers, Cydectin and Valbazen.
That is some good info. Where do you get the iron? Is it a shot or something they can take like a wormer?
Appreciate you watching
Anem-x 100 from Tractor Supply. 5 mLs subcutaneous injection for adult goals is what I usually use.
Thanks!
@@BoisDArcKikos I use Red Cell for horses to bring in the iron. Works great!
Thanks for sharing.. I need to get me kikos goats 🐐..
Your welcome
They are a enjoyable goat to raise.
Thanks for watching
Always good to have another dewormer "in the back pocket" for a bad case. After last year, I have no idea how many dewormers I've used but am learning about different ones from you folks - thanks for the info! My does are doing much better than last year. I really could use that pretty doe you are giving away! 😉

That heat puts a lot of stress on them and they can’t manage the worm load as well. Hopefully some cooler weather is in the forecast.
Yes you are right. Not looking good here in the south we are under a heat wave for now.
Thanks for watching
Good video Josh. No need to have a giveaway for the goat just send her my way
Appreciate you watching
Hopefully you will win her!!
We have Kiko and Nubian goats, fading away from the Nubian. We have always done a dual working when needed one clear and one white. Typically we do Valbazen and Cydectin together or Safeguard and prohibit.
I think that may be the trick.
Thanks for watching
I use that prohibit on my goats and it is great stuff.
Good deal!

Thanks!
Thanks 😊

Beautiful goat.

Hey 'all, That is great information. The tolerance is always the problem with so many treatments. When we think hey just give more we forget that more might work but is it safe for the animal? I am always impressed how well you keep up on the animals and the best ways to keep them healthy. Other new Kevin and Rachel Hidden Heights are looking for a New Zealand Keiko buck for their farm. First I have seen anything on Prohibit. Thanks for the info. How long do you wait after administration of another wormer before going to Prohibit. Im working on a 6 year old Doe that is very anemic and just retreated with Valbazen a couple days ago.
Prohibit is very good. If she’s bad I would administer both wormers then 7 days do it again.
Thanks for watching
I would love to get started into Kikos
The are a good goat to raise. Thanks for watching
Those are wonderful looking goats and I’m really proud that you stay up on top of what’s going on with each of them. It’s nice that you’re going to give one away despite your situation. I can’t imagine your heat index and praying for rain and cooler temperatures for you. Also praying for you and believing that God will heal your body. I’ve been fighting cancer issues for 11 years along with heart disease and I just pray that God will Lay His hands upon you and it will be a Swift in removing the cancer from your body and that you can be healed completely and wholly according to his will. I believe in God all mighty healing; I believe that he is the one in the only and I believe he is the power is it for those who believe he will be true to them. Thank you for your belief and do not give up no matter how things may seem… The doctors are greater than he is and he is the one who is all knowing. You are blessed with your family and your wife he will be there to support you.!!
And his precious name I pray these things for you,Amen🙏😇🌈
Thank you Vickie we greatly appreciate your prayers. I hope your battle turns in your favor. You sound like a fighter & yes God can take care of us.
Thank You
I really enjoy learning about goat farming on your channel. Thank you! Your image is crystal clear. What camera do you use?
Thank you. We appreciate you watching!
We use a GoPro 10 & IPhone 12 to make our videos.
What will happen when they become immune to this wormer? Do you ever consider the Greg Judy method and culling the does that can't handle the worms? Essentially take the hit one year to ensure your herd is stronger in the future? What are your thoughts?
We do cull goats that have to be wormed often. We worm very seldom. But I think this worm is immune to what we have been giving them so we are trying this prohibit and it seems to be working. Out of 80 nannies we wormed 6. 3 are going to the sale barn as culls.
@@BoisDArcKikos that's a strong group! Early on did you see similar numbers with your kikos? Or has heartiness developed over time?
We have culled hard over the last few yrs and our numbers continue to get better each year. Plus we see that hardiness being passed through to kids from really hardy does.
Why is your mixture brown? The prohibit I've used mixes up clear.
We mixed it in a bottle we just used up that was some power punch that’s why it’s discolored.
Thanks for watching
Hey Josh, do you mix the Prohibit by instructions, or do you guys have your own recipe?
We mix it by the instructions.
I don’t usually have to worm my goats but the couple times I have, I did dual worming and it works amazingly. Good luck
We are the same here out of 80 nannies we only had to worm a handful but the ones we did worm the wormer wasn’t working on them so we had to go to something different. Yes using 2 different kinds at once will help.
Thanks for watching
@@BoisDArcKikos I hope that didn’t come across bad or a know it all 🤦♀️. Your goats are absolutely beautiful. I use the sheep cydectin and safeguard but I know you said you tried that. It doesn’t make sense to me why there’s not more things made strictly for goats and that we have to use so much off label.
Oh no not at all. Sometimes some need a little help and what we was using didn’t help.
givin' it a shot, no luck w dectomax, valbazen, ivermectin, safeguard 😭
Very informative video!! What’s the dosage? Like xxml/pound?? And what’s the dilution rate in water (1 pack / 1 quart of water)?? Thank you!!
I packet to a quart of water for goats and we do 2cc per 25# we always go under on dosage because it can be lethal
Typically we use safeguard pumpkins Apple Cider Typically do once a year

I have been researching meat goats and like what I see in the Kiko. Everyone is saying the pedigrees can be expensive, but due to their heritage, they have few health issues, require very little hoof trimming and are naturally resistant to parasites. Have you found this to be true? How often do you worm compared to other breeds? Do you cross-breed?
Yes that is very true they are a maintenance free goat. We do have some that need trimming every now and then & we do worm some but once it becomes repetitive we cull them. Culling over the past few years has helped our herd out tremendously. We only wormed a handful out of 80 nannies the other day.
Thanks for watching
have you been using cydectin and valbazon together? How critical is the correct dosage? Did you weigh those on the vid or guess at their weight? I would guess their weight to be about 120 lbs. Thanks
I guessed and probably under dosed them to be safe I have heard it will kill one. My chart says 2ml per 25# we will check them again and give them a little more of needed. They already look better. Yes 120 is a good guess.
Thanks for watching
6ml is for 300 lbs? Do you give them a higher dose because goats have a higher metabolism?
Prohibit is 2ml per 25#
Can you give this to nursing does?
Yes we give it to them if needed.
Havent had any worms yet!
Knock on wood. Only buy replacement does
from one source.
That’s great!!
And a good way to build up the strength in your herd.
Thanks for watching
Im raising registered fullblood
Savannas.
I mixed the prohibit for sheep one pack in a gallon of water. How much should I give to a 80lb goat and 30lb goat? I can't find a straight answer. It's all I have on hand.
We did 2ml per 25#
Do y'all do your own fecals or do you take samples to labs or vets?
We take samples to our vet

Does Diatomaceous Earth work as a dewormer?
I have heard that it does but haven’t tried that.
What brand is your panels and who did you get them from?
They are from northeast gate company in Northeast Tx
Thanks for sharing. Man I'd really like to win that goat. She's a beauty 🤞 C'mon y'all, hit that subscribe button.
Yes!! Hopefully we get there soon.

Mi puoi darmi quale il nome della medicina grazie
Are you having any fecals done?
No I’m not. Don’t know anyone who really does it around here.
Thanks for watching
@@BoisDArcKikos most Vets that deal with livestock do them. Just had a couple done myself due to weight loss. Came back clear 1st time, Vet gave wormer for Barber pole and a shot of antibiotic. 10 days later, another fecal and only a couple worms spotted. Dosed again. Running labwork for Johnnes? Not sure on spelling.
I don't trust fecal if done 1 time. Has to be a follow up. Especially if shows clean. Shedding cycle of the worms and all that.
Doesn't it have to be a specific wormer for Barber pole?
I know you give yours vaccines so at least you don't need to worry about the shortage of Antitoxin right now and you know it's not over eating disease.
I need to ask one of our vets to do some for us. We don’t ever have to worm. Only a handful out of 80 nannies got some so we was pleased with that. All of our yearlings was good.
@@BoisDArcKikos might be a good part of your program. Only because of any brought from a sale. With some worms and such, sick animal doesn't have to still be present for new animals in same pen at a different time to come in contact.
I always worried about what we might bring home when I was showing horses.
It's a risk we have to take sometimes.
You have a good program 👍
@@OurOkieHomestead Just asking how much does the fecal test cost?
IT's not the goats that get immune to the wormer , Its the parasites !!
That is true.
Thanks for watching
What is dosage for prohibit
We do 2ml per 25#
Can you use it on pregnant you?
No can’t be used on pregnant does
We give cydectin or ivermectin sheep drench to our pregnant does if needed
