I raise French and American Alpines. I got into goats for the Agriculture exemption and my brother-in-law found a lady getting out of goats because she was moving to the city. I went through field fence, welded wire and then found no climb horse fence and the goats can't break it. I have to go 5 feet high because my goats can jump. I do have to disbud them because they are registered dairy goats and the ADGA requires them not to have horns. Some of my goats are polled. I like the Alpines because they are fairly easy to handle and they are quiet. When I got into goats I had a lot of friends that told me that goats were easy to care for. I found out that if there is a way to cause trouble, they will. They do keep life interesting. I love watching the kids play and how the goats interact with each other. They are entertaining. It's amazing how agile they are.
Josh you look good, glad to see you up making awesome videos!!!! You and Uncle Joe have the second best goat farm( second to only that “bbkernsalln”). Tell Joe hello .
Thanks for the video. I appreciate you that you actually showed what you were talking about instead of just talking to the camera. I like the idea of your med bucket. Beginner livestock first aid would be a good for it’s own video.
Glad to see you out Josh! This was an excellent video on raising goats. People need this before they jump into getting goats. It is work to have a good herd. Your herd is what we all strive for healthy beautiful and good moms! Thanks again Josh don`t wait so long before the next video I was worried about your health!
Molly is growing. Thanks for the information. How are your treatments going. You should be about done. I am praying for you. Your kids are looking good.
Good tips for anyone wanting to get into goats. The one thing that has kept me from getting goats is the lack of good fencing. Fencing is expensive and what I have won't hold water let alone a goat! So that is one thing I would have to address. 🤔💖😉 I am happy to see you looking well. My prayers go with you always. 💖🙏💖
Hey there Josh, I hope you’re feeling better and enjoying being able to enjoy the farm and your animals again. I’m recovering myself, my husband got sick with the sinuses and Covid, that a couple of his workers had gotten but he was able to rid himself of Covid due to his shots and catching it early but amazingly he became sick with his ears and a low grade fever and the doctor had to treat him for sinusitis with antibiotics but he’s a fighter when he gets sick and he got well right away. The weather has been so strange lately and some days are like spring and then the true weather came in and it got so cold and now snowy and everyone is getting sick. I recovering from a severe sinus infection with fever and headaches, so now I stay away from crowds and wear mask outside. How is your family? I hope everyone’s well. Take care of yourself and listen to the doctor. God bless you and your family. I love your cute Kiko babies.❤
Boy you ain't lying, I learned the hard way too. After eight years in raising goats a good fence is absolutely important. I raise dairy goats for the milk (we love it) which I make cheese and soap from. Now my goats are not purebred, but mostly Nubian with some Alpine and LaMancha mixed in, but all dairy breeds. I have considered keeping some of bucklings for meat but haven't as of yet.
****🌺 Boy was I surprised! So glad to see you back on & looking so healthy! I was just praying for you 2 days ago and wondering how things were going? Glad your back. Looking forward to more videos. Love 💞 & Aloha🦋 from Yvonne 🌺🦋 & Hoku 🐕🐾 in San Diego 🌺🦋🌈🌊***
Good video Josh ! I was wondering when you would be putting your next one out today and there it was a few hours later. You remain in my prayers 🙏 cancer free in '23
Good deal! Yes it’s a learning curve raising goats but getting a good start with some good Kikos is a plus. Congrats and welcome to Kikos!! Thanks for watching
This is a great video for those who are going to raise goats. Great job, Josh!👍 I've been keeping you in my prayers. You're lookin great! The kids are lookin so good! God bless. 😊❤️
I really enjoyed this educational side of goat care. Even though I'll never have goats 🐐 myself, I find them to be very charming animals. So many of the TH-cam Creator's I follow have goats and through them I've come to really like 👍these characters. I think I would have enjoyed having some pigme goats as pets. I see you didn't recommend feeding any grain, and I've recently learned it is really not good for them yet many goat keepers do feed grain. Any comment on that? Your kids have sure grown since the last video 😊 and look like they are thriving. So good to see you up and looking as good as can be expected. You are just the most pleasant person and I admire your faith.
Thanks for the tips! Thanks to some local Guernsey experts, we've been learning how to raise goats for the past year. Now our herd has finally arrived. Thanks again for the great advice : )
Josh, great informational video. Perfect timing because my interest lately is possibly getting into goats. Not immediate future but hopefully within a couple of years. We have a few things that need to happen before we can, but researching now is part of us finding the right property. Hubby is all about the return on investment!! 🤣 So having a timeline and my list of needs/potential costs, I absolutely need to do my homework. The nice weather has made you "glow" and seem more mobile. I continue to pray for you and your wife through this journey. Thank you for being an inspiration of hope, and educational to promote healthy, strong herds for any of us getting the itch for herds. Much love from Iowa ❤️❤️❤️
Just my opinion we are fostering some goats for some friends. They got a problem with their property and I wanted to be the best caregiver. I can thank you very much for all the information and put it together well-informed video now we can be the best aunt uncle to a bunch of kids thanks. Joe & Christina
I just searched for goats cause I’m a Capricorn and capricorns zodiac is a goat 🐐♑️ so that’s why I’m here LOL 🤣 but I ended up watching the whole video cause it was actually very informative! 👍🐐
We use cattle panels. The cage that houses our babies has extra fencing at the bottom, but cattle panels have worked for all of our goat fences. They're thick metal they last forever they're tall enough and you just latch them together however you want to make your fence and however big you want to make it
Hey Josh you look 👀 so good. My hubby had his his surgery (cancer) they took 2/3 of his esophagus and took part of his stomach. They still want him to do some more treatments. So I hope your feeling as good as you look. Prayers are # 1. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🌻🌻👋👋😊😊🇺🇸🇺🇸
Oh no, I never got a notification for this video, Josh but glad I checked again cuz it had been a while. What a great informative video, Josh!! And wow, you have a lot of kids on the ground and they are so darn cute!! Also, so good to see you doing well!! You are still in my prayers for a full recovery! God bless you and Audra and the boys 💜❤💜❤💜
OMG video all casual information new goats farmers are searching for it’s here . Welcome back you looks good / healthy now with full of energy . I have a request for you please make few more informative videos with episodes 1-2-3 just like this . #1 : Newborn goat babies , there’s 1st vaccinating and other medicines to lower there mortality’s rates , good minor management can could increase the stability and profitable. Episode #2: Per acre number of goats can be comfortable . Episode #3 : Goats pasture 20-50 goats pasture . Those are main topics new goats farmers are searching for 70/80% on TH-cam.
Welcome I’m watching your videos since 2021 nonstop with many good successful stories and progress. Very helpful for me and others as well is guess . Now I would like to see little bit more professional touch baby goats to adult goats if possible please.
Your goats are amazing and vital. You do an excellent job of raising them. I, however, could not look in their precious little faces, knowing they’re going to slaughter. I’m an animal lover and yes, I understand the cycle of life……but, no, they’d all be pets. ❤️🐐
Great information. I've been thinking of starting to raise goats, and your video truly helps. Thank you. Will definitely try and keep up with your video.
Looking stronger Josh! I love the baby goats. They're so comical! When I finally get my property ready to move to, I'm interested in a couple milk goats that can also browse down different areas of the land away from the house. I was thinking about the full electric fencing that I could move around the land. Do you think that would hold Nigerian Dwarfs in?? The ground in my mountain is super rocky so not sure a ton of traditional fencing would work for me. I'm mostly into having chickens, rabbits maybe the occasional steer or hog and many gardens! I would love your perspective. Thanks, Texas Deb ❤️
Great to see you Josh. Awesome video with a whole bunch of information. Your farm is so pretty, grass is coming back, ponds are full, & a crazy amount of little kids running around😊 Hope your treatment is going ok & hi to Audra. Love prayers & support from Australia🙏🏼🥰
Love 💕 the video great info Back in the 50’s dad said a cow dairy would keep a goat or two because they would get sick first Dad didn’t like goats because they were so willful but I confess not having to take care of them that quality makes them endearing Keep strong with your battle it is tough will say prayers There is a lot of GI cancer in our family God Bless
I don't have property for goats, but learned a lot. Your hay ring & tin shelters are great. I will share this with someone I know that might want to do this.
Man I’m glad I found your channel! I’m over in Paris and I’ve been thinking about getting a couple goats to clean up our ranch headquarters, possible milk or meat, and for my daughter to learn to raise animals. I’m doing my research and I appreciate your information. I’ll be in contact once we make up our minds on the type! Thank you sir

Good to see you out and about! Since kiko's originally had dairy goat bred onto them, would they make a dual-purpose goat for a homestead? Or perhaps bred back to a dairy buck for future dual purposes?
