The local sheriff becomes suspicious when a widow becomes the recipient of a huge inheritance after her husband is officially declared dead. He is unmoved by her claims that her husband vanished after walking into a field, and is certain that she is hiding something.

Herman Munster did at least 35 episodes of this program , his real name is Fred Gwinn and he played the judge in my cousin Vinny .

"Herman Munster," as you call him was also a Harvard University graduate.

Furthermore Gwynne was a film and stage actor, including Broadway productions, both before and after The Munsters. He was a painter whose work was frequently exhibited in galleries and a successful illustrator of children's books. I didn't know how many roles he played in radio dramas but I knew there were a LOT; I've listened to many of them. Fred Gwynne was a pretty busy guy.
Also he once withdrew from auditions for a sitcom because a director called him Herman Munster instead of his name. He was never happy about the typecasting, which would cost him film roles he otherwise might have gotten. The Herman role definitely hurt his career in the long run but he said Herman was a guy he couldn't help liking in spite of everything.

I absolutely love these old CBSRMT shows and Fred Gwenn is always great in them; however, this is one of the many shows that have ended with no closure. The mystery must always have a closure .

LOL, stories don't always have to be wrapped up and tied with a bow, but it does say that they never found the body but things like that happened in the 1800s.
