    Sociologists divided into 2 groups
1 Nuclear family result of industrialisation- Parsons, William Goode.
    2. Tensions in nuclear family prompted questions. 1940s to 60s it was felt nuclear family facing some kind of crisis
Rate of divorce, domestic conflict, children rebelling
When size of family becomes small, your expectations from each member increases.
To compensate for lack of time, parents are giving material gifts.
Not parents, playschools are socializing children. (Edmund leach- runaway family)
Within family, debate leads to polarization within the family- growing demand and expectations.
Socialization is individualistic, self oriented- man disconnected from extended kinship group
When society becomes heartless, man in search of happiness comes to family. Man comes home frustrated from exploitation at work and is spirited back by his spouse.
