    We had a funeral for our uncle today. I feel so much more informed from watching your channel. I find myself looking for things you’ve discussed in your videos. I also watch the funeral directors more closely and a lot of respect for what they do now. I also take photographs during the event and I’m very careful to stay out of the way and be very unobtrusive but I also find the employees of the funeral home see what I’m trying to accomplish and do or say things that make it easier for me. Thank you for educating us Kari!

    May sound silly, but how do you know which to use for color? Does a picture of the deceased, when alive, give you an idea of their "tone"? I'd be afraid to make Aunt Midge too pink or yellow :)

    • @LucyMahala
      @LucyMahala 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I will obviously let Kari reply to you properly but I know that a photo can definitely help you to know what the deceased was like when alive and what general colour tone you're going for. As a very general rule yellows are usually reached for for males and pinks for women but obviously it depends on the individual! X

I live 700 miles away so your channel answers many of the questions and curiosity’s I have about the industry. My step-sister kindly took care of three of my grandparents when they passed and it was a great comfort to know she was caring for them. Now for my 1st wacky question....are there any funeral industry products that you have used in your personal life? Ex: I thought maybe Dis-Spray might be something used to clean something when nothing else worked in your personal life.

    I had at least 2 relatives that weren't embalmed. The immediate family made the decision. There was no public viewing also. I'm leaning toward that option with a Mastercraft Washington Willow priest casket. Ideally I'd like a mausoleum crypt but community mausoleums force you to have an embalming done. So that leaves finding a cemetery that will allow a single or double crypt. I am finding those choices slim. Many don't want to deal with future maintenance and possible vandalism. Cremation for me is a definite "no".

    Hi Kari, I understand the need for these chemicals at times but it doesn’t make me like them any more. Living on a farm that depends on groundwater for irrigation, I also am aware our drinking water comes from the same source. Our groundwater is a precious commodity that we, the world has been careless with. From PCB’s, dry cleaning fluids, fuel spills and on and on, we are harming our future generations.
    Many cities recycle-reclaim and treat their wastewater to be purified and sent back to our drinking water source. 8n all fairness, blood and human waste from embalming also goes in the sewer.
    Leaking caskets have been contaminated our ground for many decades. That’s why I choose cremation or no embalming..
    Thanks for the video.

    Are fluids made by different manufacturers compatible with each other? Is there any oil/water type of risk mixing them together. I'm asking as, for example, I once filled a soap dispenser that wasn't quite empty with another manufacturer's soap and discovered they did not like being put together. The two soaps appearance, texture and smell changed and it was unpleasant to use. Wondering if the same can happen here.
