MEP-802a excessive vibration investigation, Part 1

Investigating and correcting a MEP-802a with excessive vibration issues.
I bought this unit as a non-runner. After fixing a stuck oil pressure relief and replacing a bunch of missing or damaged parts, the unit runs and makes power, but suffers from an abnormal amount of vibration. (even for an 802)

Great little unit....would love to have a unit like this for a 48 volt off grid system we are building.

Im in the same boat you were in now I believe. Got a 90hr 2009 802a at gov auction. Did all the PM on it and started it up today. It was vibrating something awful (shaking the whole unit bad) however, it seems like then engine is running good. Kinda stumped at the moment

I hope by now you have replaced that bad bearing. If not, remove the bearing and check the run out on the shaft.

Assuming the outer bearing surface was smooth but being crunchy might be enough to cause the deviation?
