The chameleons chalk up another win! Mitch (round hat) and Kirstin (the female) are both original members, and both still with the group. They both change their looks from one video to another, and are often mistaken for new members because of it. Kirstin changes her hair color and style, and Mitch changes...well, everything! Hair (or lack thereof) color, style, facial hair (or lack thereof) - all are subject to change without notice! And that was a darn good Mitch-slap! As you mentioned, this was all done as lip-synched to the original studio recording. However, when PTX does their "lip-synching", they actually will sing along with the studio recording, not just mouth the words. This helps ensure that their lips, mouths, throats, and breathing are all done just they way they were originally done when making the studio recording. They are very good at it, and it's hard to remember that the Official videos are almost all done that way. There are a couple of excellent quality videos of them performing this song live. My favorite is from their Christmas 2016 TV special, as it has the same lineup as this video (you actually saw them in their costumes and styles for that special in their outro announcement). It's an easy search on TH-cam if you want to take a look at it.
The 5 singers in this video are the original group from 2011 to 2017. Penta means 5, so there are always 5 singers in Pentatonix. The only person who ever left was Avi Kaplan, the second singer, their first bass, who left after 6 years, and was replaced by Matt Sallee. Kevin, beat boxer, is often loaded with microphones under his jackets & sometimes uses a stomp pad to make his body sounds louder. Sounds done with his mouth/voice are picked up thru a normal vocal mic. 🎤

This is of course a music video where they are miming to their studio track. Kevin (the beatboxer, same guy as in "Daft Punk") does body percussion on some of their arrangements and he really was beating his chest and stomping for the studio track, as well as beatboxing. Good micing and their genius sound editor makes sure it's all heard. But there is a live version of this from their Pentatonix Christmas Special (2016) where they somehow mic'd his jacket and feet to pick up the body percussion live. There is another live version from their 2021 Evergreen Christmas tour where he is doing more beatboxing and less body percussion.

Pentatonix records the audio of their official music videos (like this one) in the studio; in the video they're lip-synching. But the way they lip-synch is to actually sing out loud, so what you see is a very close approximation of what you would see if the audio and video were a single recording. This was filmed in the Mojave Desert, just outside of Barstow, California. Kirstin had a foot or leg injury at the time they filmed it, which was making walking difficult for her; that's why she was just standing there while the other four walked up to her. And they seem to have timed it perfectly, to arrive just in time for her solo, though some of that may have been editing. "Daft Punk Medley" brought Pentatonix their first Grammy, for good reason, but more people are familiar with Leonard Cohen and "Hallelujah" than are familiar with the band Daft Punk, so people are more likely to watch this video. That explains why their -cover- upgrade of "Hallelujah" has more views than their "Daft Punk Medley." And one of these days you absolutely *must* react to their -cover- upgrade of "Bohemian Rhapsody." It will blow you away.

From your face, it looks like you got 'Mitch-slapped' - it's what we call it when people first hear what Mitch can do with his angelic voice! As someone else said, he and Kirstie change their looks, including hair colour and length all the time but it's always them! You're right about the body percussion, obviously it was recorded as body percussion in the studio and then he just mimicked it on the video. He does do the same body percussion when they sing it live though. They won't record anything in the studio that they can't sing live.
