    I honestly think, that this is simply one of the most beautiful pieces of engineering I have ever seen.
    Not just that it looks great, it also allows you to do things with your drilling or milling machine, that you couldn't do before you had it.

    Has anyone else had issues with the spring clip that retains the sector arms jumping of its groove? The solution is very simple. Forget about the spring clip and fit a rubber 'O' ring in the groove where it fits. The 'O' ring I have on mine is about 3.6mm in cross section and 14mm inside diameter. This provides a good level of friction whilst still allowing the sector arms to be indexed around. A little dab of Vaseline gel may help to further fine tune the friction level.

    You're using the INDICES stops backwards. Choose the Thinnest side to 'work up to' and 'work from' not the wide (BRICK WALL) side.

    Pretty sure I have the exact same one. I was a little bummed that my dovetail locks are steel instead of brass though. Might have to remedy that.

    Just a quick mention about this type only being semi universal. Recently Oxtools channel has put up a video about adding an electronic rotary drive to such a head as this. The addition of a stepper motor drive and rotary encoder makes fully universal/differential milling possible with this type of head. Cutting true helical gears should be straight forward with such a set up.

    My concern is the 3jaw chuck. They are never perfect. If you put a gear blank in there and there’s 4 or 5 thou of runout, which is common in 3j chucks, you won’t come out with a gear that runs true. The only way around that is a set tru chuck or you run the same chuck on your lathe to make the arbor, but then you need a lathe with the same spindle nose.

      250 mm or not quite 10" This is for the BS-0 5" model.

    i think you are using the sector arms from the wrong side ...you can do it that way but i think it is a more intuetive feel to do it the other way

      I agree. You should be using them opposite of the way you are now. (Clockwise instead of counter clockwise) The flat part of the sector arm should be touching the pin, not the chamfered edge. Always count clockwise and move the sector arms the same way.

      I bought one of the cheaper priced heads of this size and set about doing a few mods and fine tuning. It is now an absolute joy to use. The cheaper versions often have a wormwheel gear made by the powder metal sintering process. The more expensive units have the wormwheel gear machined from a disc of bronze. The cheaper sintered powder metal gear sometimes needs a bit of getting and bedding in to get a really smooth action throughout the full 360° rotation.

      That's a great question. You will need an indexing plate with 77 holes. You can have one made on a laser. Perhaps you will need to make smaller holes, to fit them all on the perimeter. That's how I would do it.

      @@sukhman7907 Is the process you describe as 'compound' the method using additional external gears. That is what I know as compound dividing. The manufacturers info says this geared compound set up is only possible when you get up to the BS 2 model and above. The BS0 and BS1 are not suited to compound division.

      Cut 76 teeth and count the first tooth twice😂😂
      I think this is one of those ratios that would require a compound set up using extra external gearing to drive the input shaft on the head. It is not listed as possible to do that set up on the smaller BS 0 or BS 1 dividing heads. That extra versatility starts with the BS 2 model and larger.
