FUN FACT! : Actually when she was young her mom dreamed about her winning a pageant in a red gown then Catriona came up with the Idea of pursuing that dream; so she asked her designer (Mak Tumang) that she wanted a red gown for the Miss Universe, then Mak Tumang ended up making the brightest idea and he made the iconic "Lava Gown" inspired by the Mayon Volcano where it's located from the hometown of Catriona's mom. And also her Ear cuff was designed by the queen herself, inspired by the three stars and the sun of the Philippine flag.

@@bubsdoe520 Yes way!! lol and there's a lot more! like her gown from the preliminary, it is inspired by a Filipino epic poem which is the Ibong Adarna, it's a magical bird. Catriona was really prepared for the Miss Universe that she and her team really wanted to make it detailed from every little thing she does and wear. She even said that she wanted to be recognized as a Miss Philippines with or without her sash on because she's not just carrying a name of a country on a sash but also the country itself. Anyways I really appreciate and thank you guys for adoring our culture, crafts and our talents more power and love for you both!

I love the fact that she stayed in character all throughout this competition; speaking with her Filipino accent. I heard her speak once and she had an Australian accent.

trivia: the red dress was inspired by lava, a homage to cat's mother hometown in bicol known for the mayon volcano. the orange dress which she wore at tge preliminaries, was inspired by the mythical bird 'ibong adarna'.

Catriona is actually Scottish-Filipino in a blood.But Australian-Filipino in citizen because she was raised in Australia when she was young and move to the Philippines.She chose Philippines in both Miss World in 2016 and Miss Universe in 2018 where she won.She is definitely a proudly Filipina.🇵🇭

Cat had a whole glam team called Team Catriona, that helped her with everything for Miss Universe 2018, from her hair and makeup, to her wardrobe, to her pasarela and Q&A training, to her videos and social media presence. It was a united effort by an entire village that helped Cat rise to the crown in 2018.
Her pasarela trainer was Carlos Buendia, who was a dance instructor for a dance troupe in UST, the oldest university in the Philippines and the entire Asia, having been founded in 1611, during the Spanish colonial years in the country.

She was the winner as clear as a whistle here. I mean her contenders here were strong too but Catriona just was a cut way above the rest as if she was performing and wasn't really competing. She was just perfect accross the board. She is hands down the greatest Miss Universe of all time!

From her gown to her accessories (like that gorgeous PH flag-inspired earcuff), it was Catriona's idea. Her gown was inspired by the lava from Mt. Mayon (most perfect cone shaped volcano located in PH), thus the "Lava Walk". She made sure to represent the country well.

Her trainors are part of a team that trained her from her walk to everything that she needed to learn to win the title. Catriona gray has scoliosis so it took her a month to perfect her lava walk and she always cry while training because it was so hard. Her lava gown weighs 10 pounds. She said in an interview that while she was walking and all with her high heels and gown her back was really aching.

Catriona’s dad is Irish from Australia. Mom is Filipino. Cat was born and raised in Cairns Australia then moved to Philippines as a teenager. She pursued modeling then eventually went into Pageantry. Pageants, Singing, Boxing and Basketball are really big in Philippines.

The philippines have the top coaches and "Binibining Pilipinas" a pageantry that giving the titles for miss universe, miss international, miss suprainternational. Miss globe have best coaches from dresses, personality, walk/posture, and training for public speaking and Q&A... even other countries trained in the philippines.
