    I highly recommend using chicken livers. I’ve caught hundred of large catfish with chicken livers during the day, but even more at night.

      @tim_henderson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Best catfish bait. I like to put the chicken liver in a tied-off piece of nylon stocking that way it stays on the hook but still spreads the smell into the water easily.

      Hell yeah, carp pack a punch! Would love to see Nick going after them. I'm a method feeder guy myself, targeting carp, tench, bream and large roach. I actually use the American pack bait technique, only I squish more of a paste bait around my method leads (boiled cornmeal with added belachan, chili powder, L-taurine, salt, crayfish meal and boiled feedcorn).

    • @mat8009
      @mat8009 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah man carp are fiesty buggers, here in the UK they are fished for everywhere and I target them with boilies and groundbait near margins and snags and also on the surface in summer, it works a treat.

    Nick: You need to get yourself a "Deeper smart sonar" so you can find structures under the surface where the big fish hide. And get yourself some better hooks to. Circle hooks are great for fish that strike hard, turn, and hook themselves, not for the kinds of fish you're after.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors

      Yeah maybe set them hooks harder too, your always on them bowfin and catfish, hard faced fish!

    • @Leviathan8509
      @Leviathan8509 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You don't set circle hooks. Just keep your line tight and start reeling. If you try to do a hard set on a circle hook, you'll just pull it right out of the fish's mouth.

    • @shawnlylebond8873
      @shawnlylebond8873 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The only fish I caught today was a small freshwater drum lol.
    On a more helpful note, big catfish don't really move around a lot during the day, so it's usually futile to leave a bait in the same spot for more than 15 minutes. You have to go to the fish instead of waiting for the fish to come to you.

    Hey just a tip, with circle hooks, you dont have to set the hook. They hook themselves based off the pressure of your rod. When you yank to set the hook, you actually pull it out of their mouth. All you have to do is reel down to them. Dont yank and I promise your hookup ratio will improve.
