I think I have another theory too as to why that first one was so viral. You hit the nail on the head with the fact that the best audios are simple and pretty much write the joke for you, but that first one also let people talk about themselves. And if there's anything we know about celebs and normal people alike, one of our favorite topics is ourself.

As someone who saw countless videos with the first sound over the last few weeks it’s pretty cool to find out that you were trying to make a viral sound and how you made it lol
I think the first one was the most successful for the simple reason that people LOVE talking about themselves, and the sound is a perfect springing point for people to talk about whatever they're passionate about or whatever. Because of that, it was not only usable in pretty much every niche of the platform, but people felt like they were participating not in a larger viral trend, but in their own special community/corner of tiktok.
The second I heard him create the first sound I knew that that one had accomplished the goal. I no longer use tiktok, but I heard it on instagram reels. That's when you know the sound went viral, because the videos are worthy of being reposted to accounts dedicated to getting the most likes and views they can get
You know what’s even more funny? When you made the first one, I was like “Didn’t someone already do something just like that?” I’m now realizing I probably had just heard your sound like a month ago and didn’t register that it was you! Too funny!

I think Danny’s approach was correct for what he was trying to do, he always gave himself the severe handicap of pretending to be someone else with literally no following so you kinda have to be high quality if you want a chance to go viral off a few attempts. Here everyone knew it was ted he wasn’t trying to hide his identity they just didn’t know he was making a video about it right? That’s a huge leg up, like small loan of a million dollars leg up lmao
Yeah my approach was more from the angle of it being generally very hard for anything to go viral in the first place, since there are plenty of Tik Tokkers that I’m sure try to make Tik Toks where the audio would go viral. Genuinely I think this was successful because of luck here because some of the other sounds I thought were just as good as that first one and none of the other ones passed even 1000 videos!
@@TedNivison I don't feel like going through all the comments to check if someone said this already, but I wanted to let you know that TikTok actually increases the chances that someone's first video will go viral (or at least get a lot more likes/views than it normally would) so the person is incentivized to come back and make more. I heard this sound throughout videos on social media, and legitimately thought it came from a show, something like Family Guy or something, only to have my world fall apart on me when watching this video for the first time.
This is the first time in a long time that I watched a video all the way through from a creator I'd never seen before, and then subscribed at the end of the video. Part of that was influenced by the fact that I actually came across the first audio you did for this challenge naturally a few days ago while on TikTok. Wild.
I met Ted on a trip downtown! I walked up to him and asked for a selfie and he broke every one of my ribs on the left side. I can't breathe without a ventilator. Classic Ted!
Holy shit, I had heard "Well, this is gonna be my personality for the rest of my life" so many times and recognized your voice so I went looking for where it was from, only to have no luck. This explains so much!
17:29 "I feel like I've figured out how the hell to find the area of a circle. A² + B² = C², baby... I FIGURED IT OUT!" Ted that's... that's a square... Y'know what, I'm not gonna ruin this for you.
I think something else you have to be careful for when making something viral on purpose is not over-producing it, people seem to like the relatability of simplicity :) even having the audio sound a tiny bit muffled just makes it sound more natural
It was so satisfying to see Ted realise where he was going wrong with the progression of the audios. They were all good *videos* but he needed good *audios* which are a totally different thing. The replication factor is all you need with those.
I was looking for this comment. Geometry was and still is my favorite subject and this just tells me he also told the truth about not paying attention in math class. Lol.
@@geminicam1156 In all fairness, it could have totally been a joke that he just delivered deadpan. We don't wanna bite the onion too hard lol. Either way, it's very funny to me. But yeah, I really liked geometry too. Honestly math in general. Calc, Stats. Maybe to a lesser extent Trig lol but I did use it recently and was surprised to find I retained quite a bit from back in the day.
I literally got an Instagram reel with your voice in it a few hours ago. You have a very recognizable intonation lol. I'm actually excited to see if that was one of your attempts for this video. Edit: Yup! It's literally the first one 🤣
I don’t think you know what gatekeeping means. It doesn’t really make sense. At least to me. I’m not trying to be rude or anything. Gatekeeping to me is like band tee shirts. People who get upset and start questioning someone wearing a band shirt if they know all the songs or albums. And if not they shame that person and act like they are fake posers. That’s how I see it at least.
The experience of randomly watching this video and getting to the part where he records the sound and realising oh. My. God! He was the origin of that TikTok sound and he did in fact succeed😭🤣
I think I know why that first video worked so well. The success of the first video got into your head a bit, and so even when you were trying to replicate it, you were doing too much. People like your voice and so you just gotta let it do it’s thing.
Just started watching Ted. Watching this video a year afterward is SO surreal. I head him say it AS HIS FIRST try and I was like OH MY GOD that’s IT holy shit. Crazy.
OH MY GOSH. Ted made that audio of the personality??????? I had no idea. That is one of my favorite audios. Honestly so surprised and just in aweeeee. Holy shit
I just watched your Rainforest Cafe and Margaritaville videos thinking "wow, this guy sounds so familiar" the entire time, and when I heard that first sound it just CLICKED. I could've sworn "this is gonna be my personality for the rest of my life" was like 5 years old, it was so familiar 😭 that's how you know it *really* went viral
It's so frustrating getting to 3:30 and realizing he succeeded just because I'm watching this a year later in addition to not realizing who's voice it was the entire time
@dread_nought I was about to say this lmao. Looks like some people forgot that the general equation for a circle is just an application of the Pythagorean theorem, so even though he probably mean it as a joke, it looped around to being correct.
The irony that you have a viral tik tok sound right in front of you. 10:52 It meets the criteria. 1. Its super simple. 2. Can be applied to everything. 3. It can be used to mock people.
@lillyraneay4763 Yes: Smart people like Newton used trigonometry (~triangular geometry relationships) to basically engineer the transcendental number, pi, which we already knew would help solve the area of a circle formula. A=(pi)*r². Obviously, that's a ridiculously condensed history I just gave but it's an amazing achievement.
@@lillyraneay4763a²+b²=c² is for triangles if that is what you were asking now that I reread your comment. Thought you meant if we found the area of a circle with triangles, which we actually did.

I heard this sound throughout videos on social media, and legitimately thought it came from a show, something like Family Guy or something, only to have my world fall apart on me when watching this video for the first time.
You could honestly write an academic paper about this. It’s so interesting! I also had no idea that the sound was from you!
This is the first time in a long time that I watched a video all the way through from a creator I'd never seen before, and then subscribed at the end of the video.
Part of that was influenced by the fact that I actually came across the first audio you did for this challenge naturally a few days ago while on TikTok. Wild.
I'm glad you liked it, and welcome to the channel!
Dude this comment is literally a free reply that everyone is gonna see and yet no one has replied to it
@@TedNivison Ooo big TH-camr that still replies to comments. Very based. Thanks Ted!
Update: they figured it out
Same. Exactly this
The coming through the door saying "I was riiight!" To him saying "That rarely ever happens to me!" Is also a good opportunity for a sound.
Oh, absolutely
I met Ted on a trip downtown! I walked up to him and asked for a selfie and he broke every one of my ribs on the left side. I can't breathe without a ventilator. Classic Ted!
"i was right, that doesn't usually happen to me" there's your viral audio lol
I would like to announce that his first sound sound is all over instagram reels as well, I've heard it several times.
Yes it is
Ted using the Pythagorean theorem as the formula for the area of a circle is hilarious
I was looking for this
i was thinking this too LMFAO
I'm low-key wondering if it was a joke or just him not being particularly good at math.
He actually sounded like Jack black too lmao
it's funnily enough close enough to the equation of a circle x^2-y^2=r^2
Holy shit, I had heard "Well, this is gonna be my personality for the rest of my life" so many times and recognized your voice so I went looking for where it was from, only to have no luck. This explains so much!
17:29 "I feel like I've figured out how the hell to find the area of a circle. A² + B² = C², baby... I FIGURED IT OUT!"
Ted that's... that's a square...
17:29
Ted: "I feel like I figured out how the hell to find the area of a circle."
Also Ted: **recites the Pythagorean Theorem**
yeah...
Right…
It could be a viral sound too...
POV: you find this video over a year after it was posted and instantly know the results because you've heard the sound before not knowing it's origins
Lmao
We need more Ted in our lives!
I literally got an Instagram reel with your voice in it a few hours ago. You have a very recognizable intonation lol. I'm actually excited to see if that was one of your attempts for this video.
Edit: Yup! It's literally the first one 🤣
ted is literally so funny for no reason. i’m gate keeping this man forever
@@FukaiKokoro shut up

Gate keeping?
don't cuz that's annoying
The experience of randomly watching this video and getting to the part where he records the sound and realising oh. My. God! He was the origin of that TikTok sound and he did in fact succeed😭🤣
I think I know why that first video worked so well. The success of the first video got into your head a bit, and so even when you were trying to replicate it, you were doing too much.
People like your voice and so you just gotta let it do it’s thing.
i wondered why you were so active on tiktok for a week a bit ago - good job ted
Ted you have officially made it, your first tiktok sound made it into a food theory video
Which one???

IM YOUR 600TH LIKE!
Just started watching Ted. Watching this video a year afterward is SO surreal. I head him say it AS HIS FIRST try and I was like OH MY GOD that’s IT holy shit. Crazy.
21:30 When I heard the audio on TikTok I legitimately thought it came from faimily guy
i love how literally the first try ended up being the most successful, like i heard that audio coming from my moms phone one time lmfao
The scar on my broken kneecap started to ache when I heard Ted Nivison's voice while scrolling through Tiktok, thanks Ted!
He caused the broken knee cap didn’t he ? Good ole Ted 😂
fake news that doesnt sound like something ted would do at all (please help me he has my family hostage)
classic ted
WAIT THAT WAS YOU????????????????????
21:47 later became a popular tik tok sound
OH MY GOSH. Ted made that audio of the personality??????? I had no idea. That is one of my favorite audios. Honestly so surprised and just in aweeeee. Holy shit
I heard it before seeing this video and thought it was just a random clip from Family Guy hahaha
@@aj_12x23 I didn’t know what it was from, I just knew it was hilarious
That’s quite impressive!
Nice
Great👌
cool
Beautiful work
cool
I just watched your Rainforest Cafe and Margaritaville videos thinking "wow, this guy sounds so familiar" the entire time, and when I heard that first sound it just CLICKED. I could've sworn "this is gonna be my personality for the rest of my life" was like 5 years old, it was so familiar 😭 that's how you know it *really* went viral
Ted's ability to make the most incomprehensible and insane videos continues to impress me
I'm surprised you haven't had one before this (besides the first one). Your voice is literally a gold mine for commentary/inspirational tik tok sounds
3:35 I have heard this so many times and had no idea why until now…
Well now I know which one worked.
It's so frustrating getting to 3:30 and realizing he succeeded just because I'm watching this a year later in addition to not realizing who's voice it was the entire time
Ted: “I feel like i can find the area of a circle baby”
Also Ted: *quotes the Pythagorean Theorem*
This is what we in the biz call Foreshadowing
Omg that's what I said, i was literally about to post the same thing lmao
I was about to say xD
@dread_nought I was about to say this lmao. Looks like some people forgot that the general equation for a circle is just an application of the Pythagorean theorem, so even though he probably mean it as a joke, it looped around to being correct.
@dread_nought indeed!
"I don't know about you guys, but i'm feeling like a genius right now"
"Can I make a viral TikTok sound in one week?"
No. You can make a viral TikTok sound in one day.
Ted: Simplicity is key!
Also Ted: overproducing his next tiktok just because
I STILL see videos of the personality sound and I always get so happy because I remember this video
The irony that you have a viral tik tok sound right in front of you. 10:52 It meets the criteria. 1. Its super simple. 2. Can be applied to everything. 3. It can be used to mock people.
The great thing is that no one would know that they are being made fun of!!!
17:30 “I feel like I’ve figured out how the hell to find the area of a circle”
*proceeds to do Pythagoras’ theorem*
That's what I was about to say
isn’t that about triangles
@lillyraneay4763 Yes: Smart people like Newton used trigonometry (~triangular geometry relationships) to basically engineer the transcendental number, pi, which we already knew would help solve the area of a circle formula. A=(pi)*r². Obviously, that's a ridiculously condensed history I just gave but it's an amazing achievement.
@@lillyraneay4763a²+b²=c² is for triangles if that is what you were asking now that I reread your comment. Thought you meant if we found the area of a circle with triangles, which we actually did.
