Shaukat Siddiqui was a progressive author with a keen social awareness and sensitivity towards human condition. Like many great authors, he was inter-alia, a chronicler of his times.Extremism elsewhere is somewhat out of synch with ours as it is unique. Enlightening discussion.

With due respect, I would also beg to think differently from the learned delegates regarding the loose ends in Jangloos and Talash e Baharan. 1) In the former, a bureaucrat wants a criminal on the loose to corroborate in his favour in drawing lots in a key club. Who can be a better choice for such a felony? Moreover, the novel reflects the society to such an extent that at times, it comes close to being a treatise. 2) Jamila Hashmi's Talash e Baharan is also a great novel , with an enlightened, sensitive and independent woman as the protagonist. If there is laxity somewhere in the plot, that can be covered in the poetic license. It is an imperfect world and poetic justice can be left best to screenplay writers of popular cinema.
