Still got my 2014 ex almost 50K still running strong, always do maintenance on it. this car made me consider the KIA Hyundai brands once again that im in the market for an SUV. they are good cars.
It's been two days since I got my 2014 Forte EX and...... I LOVE IT!!!! What a great little car. Well... it's not that little. I'm 6'2" tall and I feel very comfortable driving my Forte. I got the Aurora Black color with black leather seats. Love those leather seats. And if you are planning on getting this car.... you have to see it in that black color. with the chrome accents it really looks amazing. One friend of mine even told me that when he first saw it he thought it was a Lexus. Must be because of that Audi designer. It really looks way better up close. I did test drove the Mazda 3 (too expensive), the Focus (again.... too expensive if you load it up with features) and the Elantra (very different car than it's cousin the forte) and didn't liked any of those as much as I loved the Kia. The Forte really feels and looks like a way more expensive car..... for the price I paid for it. Took advantage of lots of bonuses since the dealer was liquidating the 2014 fleet to make way for the new 2015 models. So I saved a lot of money and still got a brand new car that I totally love.
Marius Doiron That's great man! I understand perfectly. It's been a little over two months and I couldn't be happier with my Forte. Hope you enjoy yours for many years! .
Sure thing. It's been two years and I'm still in love with my Kia Forte EX. Haven't had any trouble with it. Nothing to complain about. Of course... I take really good care of the car. Maintenance always on time, car sleeps in garage and I don't drive like a maniac. lol Couldn't be happier.
Here in Australia they come with a full sized spare - you get 5 alloy wheels standard. The suspension is tuned for our roads as well - better handling than overseas models, I'm told. 75db at 100kph (62mph) makes it one of the quietest on road in its class. Certainly a bit quieter than the previous model which I recently traded on the new model, which had done 73,000kms without fault, rattle or squeak, mostly country miles. Folk who criticise Kia (or Hyundai) for being prone to falling apart need to drive them for a few years. They would be very surprised. I've driven European cars for decades - often in harsh conditions, but cannot see the value in them any more - apart from the pose factor - some of them look great, but so does this little Kia.
i live in saudi arabia ... MPG doesn't mean anything here. so from what i've seen, da MPG is da only down-side (so for me, there's no downsides at all) :D :D
Hello Dave! Great review videos. I was wondering.... Kia Forte or Hyundai Elantra? Or Kia Forte Five or Elantra GT? From what I get on the review videos... they are pretty similar cars. But which one is better? I'm planning to get a new car (current one is a 2006 Scion XB) but I don't like the 2nd generation XBs that much. Thanks!
Kia Forte 2.0 GDI is one of the fastest car in the segment. Its 0-60 mph time is around 7.5 seconds. The average in the segment is around 9 seconds. Although it might not get the MPG of Civic or Corolla (both much slower), it has very good power and good MPG.
I never cease to be amazed by how Kia has improved their interiors year after year. The fit and finish look good all around. The rear armrest didnt seem flimsy. The fold down rear seat mechanism looked solid, and the steering wheel and dash switch gear feel is as good as, and sometimes better than, their competitors. And the Tiger Nose exterior styling has impressed me from launch. Sadly, all that said, i wouldnt take this over a Focus, but it might steer me out of a base model Corolla or Civic.
Swap the original air filter for a K&N filter and boom! You got that extra gas mileage you're talking about. I have been averaging a bit over 30 mpg of mixed driving. Took it on a long trip to the coast and averaged around 38 mpg!!
Robroy Fawcett Thank you, Robroy. My goal is to be as helpful as possible to the consumer with my detailed reviews and getting to the issues that matter most - Dave
I LOVE your reviews!!! I don't even know you but after watching numerous amounts of your videos while trying to decide which car is right for me, I feel I can trust and value your opinion! thanks man!
@@BrooklynKing22 The car now has 220000 KMS on it. No mechanical problems or AC problems so far. How ever I did replace both front wheel bearings and both front Shock Absorbers because these were just worn out. I change the oil and filters as per manufacturers guide so it is always good to do preventive maintenance on KIA vehicles.
supercooled That's true, I have not seen one on the road. Unless it's not been released yet. Would love to see one. And would love to see it compared against the hatchback offerings from Mazda, Ford, etc.
***** It is funny i have had my 14 forte for 4 months now and everywhere i go people stare at it like they have never seen one, but even i have only seen 1 other in my area which i think is awesome. It seems like a very good made car the materials are good quality feeling to touch, plenty enough power and good gas mileage only negative is the noisy tires it comes with.
So J Mills , do you have the sedan, coupe or hatch? Still have not seen a hatchback, saw a coupe the other day and sedans I see every now and then. But still have not spotted a hatch.
Good review... my only challenge to the fuel economy is that the Kia is about 30 HP more that it's competitors. More HP translates to diminished fuel eco.
I gotta say, I like the desogm of the previous gen Forte better. If you put that interior on the 1st gen Forte, you'd have arguably the best car in the segment.
What does "positioning lights" mean? I asked two sales reps and they said the LEDs are not used for daytime running lights. Why would you not use LEDs that use less power and produce the whitest and most distinctive output as your daytime running lights? Either every other car manufacturer is wrong or Kia knows something we don't.
Only the Ex trim level of the forte has led daytime running lights, but all trim levels have led parking lights (the lights that turn on when you put your headlight switch to the first position, although you'll also see them with low beams on. The Nissan Sentra has the same thing.. it has LEDs on the headlights but they're parking lights not daytime running lights.
Ricardo Gutierrez On our Forte EX, the first click position is parking lights and the last click is auto. I keep it on the first click during the daytime because I like the look and I think the LEDs stand out (at least until every carmaker uses these). I think that the LEDs should be part of the auto mode and the daytime running light mode. When it gets darker outside, the other lights (halogen) should come on as well.On the 2014 Toyota Highlander LE plus, the first click is auto, although there are no LEDs.
This is a compelling choice for a car in this class, which I am a customer of. I like most of the exterior styling, the interior and trunk roominess, and would love a cooled drivers seat (sorry sweaty passenger). However, I find the interior styling to be plain which makes it already look a bit dated. For such low powered engines, the fuel economy is lackluster. And, I have also heard the ride can be fairly harsh. All things which would make me think twice about purchasing this car.
To me the exterior design has been borrowed too heavily from the Honda Civic sedan. The interior is too grimmy for me, still showing the KIA's ambition to move up in the market.
So, as for fuel economy goes, it's what you do on the road and not what the makers write that are the good numbers. I particulary like the features we get in it (cooled seats! Nav). Plenty of room back there (contrary to the Focus), and big cargo room. Enough engine to have some fun (makes me forget Corolla exist). Only thing is the price (25k and it drops like hell after). Just wait a couple of years just like my, buy a used one with low milage and low price, you'll be plenty happy.
@@ilychawn I sold it 3 years ago, the only issue I had was a knocking sound on the power steering but I only had to replace something called "rubber coupler" which is very cheap, less than 5 dollars. Besides that it behaved well.
