    Glass work is something I pay out to a pro to do myself. I tried something like that once years ago and ended up needing a new windshield. As Dirty Harry once said, "A man's got to know his limitations", mine's glass. lol

    Glass can be a pain in the behind. But you never know till you try. I thought I saw some cracks in that area be good practice at fiberglass work tho. Top will look nice painted up! Safe journeys till next time.

    Here's a tip from my cabover with the same issue.
    Over the years the fibreglass panel that holds the screen in wears from cornering and driveways etc.
    The glass won't stay in because the hole is too big.
    Cheapest fix is to get a new screen cut to suit the hole.
    Works great.
    No more leaks.
    Flat glass is cheap.

      Pretty sure those windshields are curved on the sides Not just flat glass you can cut to suit?

    The best thing to do is start from the beginning with the glass out and new rubber. I know it's a PIA but produces the best results. Install the new rubber spraying with diluted dish soap, then install the glass gently, firmly and patiently. The dish soap in the new rubber will allow to glass to move just enough to slip in squarely and lock in place.
    I bet that when you have the glass out you'll find it was a custom cut and not per the KW specs.

      I will when I do the new glass. I just needed to seal it up so it could sit outside. The glass had fallen in on the bottom and it rained into the truck for a few years

    If you need anymore windshields James mhc kenworth off 285 has more they only come in packs of five so I got 2 so 3 more left

    So I've delt with the rubber seals for windows on my Cabover Kenworth's once that rubber seal gets old and starts showing Gapps they would leak your best thing to do is get new rubber seals for both windows I did what you were doing and it leaked in a rain storm good luck

    lights are key!even us old bodymen yell for brighter lights its crazy what customers dont see in the sun or garage dings everywhere they dont see.the new lights that pdr techs use are incredibile nowadays it shows each piece of orangepeel but they 800 dollars and you can change colors of light led strips

  • @petecoffman9048
    @petecoffman9048 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Doesn't that have a locking strip in the rubber?

  • @uliwehner
    @uliwehner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i think they make a puller for the rubber strip. rather than pushing it in.

    even us old bodymen hire that out if new one or old one cracks you are responsible.i restored a 69 gto back in early 90s car was mint original window i had it almost out had half inch left and it cracked i felt so bad!!boss was on vacation he came back and gave me the 5th!.luckily i wasnt fired but he needed me to paint a trans am bird on a 79 trans am then clearcoat because i knew how i wasnt fired otherwise ya id been fired.you couldnt just go get a new 69 gto front window even back then risk is to high chit gets brittle.the old chevy squarebodys didnt scare me done tons of them.we had a prestige rv at one bodyshop and had glass guys come in for some reason the new glass kept cracking on the rounded part they where freaking 3 glasses later they got it

    YOU MAY HAVE TOO TAKE THE GLASS OUT

  • @robpeters5204
    @robpeters5204 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sticky rubbers are bad.
    Always schmutz your rubber!
    You should save yourself the frustrations and get a window shop guy to come out and do the glass. They specialize in the worst installs without hardly breaking them.
