@@PlanetautoUK Managed to get my hands on a slightly used one for about 3k less. Today I took it for a long drive, including going to my local Leroy Merlin for some interior paint and so on.
Driving- The Clutch reminds me of early 2000s Hyundai which had the Clutch all the way up, it is easy to miss if you're coming from Ford like I am. The handling on the road is what you would expect from a soft suspension like it has, it is excellent for highway driving but not ideal for sharp turns. The engine is very very silent and you do not realize that you're driving a gas engine sometimes.
Highway Driving- Maybe it's the engine that has 12.000 Km but I do not think the 1.5L is speedy enough for the left lane. You can easily cruise at 100km/h but it is not the ideal speed for the car. I think over 120 it starts to struggle a bit, I am no race car driver I drive around 90 but that what my test showed.
Entering International Highways from intercity highway, it is a good car and it does not struggle in the corner at high speeds, it cruises just fine and it feels like it is well balanced.
The Radio and these things I did not bother to look at them , I only had one radio station and the HVAC. It is something I gotta study. I like that there are USB C ports almost everywhere makes it very easy to charge things.
Boot- You can fit a 12k BTU AC unit, no problem but it will slide a bit so you gotta push there and adjust here. The factory mats give this anti slippery feeling so you dont hear the things moving around which is good
Brakes- Theyre strong not a problem there
      Things I do not like,
The door panel is designed as a second arm rest together with the central arm rest, they are soft but the door panel itself is very hard plastic and the future of it makes me question if it exists.
I don't like fake leather on the car
There are no parts for this car outside the dealership, I wanted to see if I can fit performance brembo brakes but no luck finding any, the car will be fixed from dealership only for the time to come
Timing Belt or Timing Chain? everyone says it's a timing belt, assuming it is a timing belt MG Motor wants 550€ for Timing Belt and Water Pump kit which has to change every 60k km, not very lasting although it is gonna be changed 1 time by me.

You’re very welcome, well good news there is now a 1l turbo with a manual now available, we should have had it on these with the HS Hybrid, then 3rd lock down struck. Therefore if you prefer manual there’s now a 1l or 1.5 the 3 cylinder is more modern and uses the engine out of of the earlier Vauxhall’s namely Corsa, smooth better economy and enough power with better acceleration. The 1.5 is trusty unit due to no turbo does need to be driven harder. All boxes do the job well, hope this helps.

telling you right now it's not worth it, go for like a Kia or something else, that's worth it because the Chinese quality is very vivid, but also never go for a 1 liter with a turbo because you stress the little 1 liter with adding a turbo meaning you're making the engine do stuff it shouldn't be doing.

Have you noticed yet that MG do not offer any UV protection on the SAIC glass. I own MG ZS EV and have had 15% privacy tints in rear of car installed and after a recent trip to Wales I’m now considering the 70% uv tints on the plain untreated drivers/passenger windows and windscreen as you can easily get sunburnt driving long distances and car becomes warm quickly. Interesting in this and the Vauxhall Corsa we found this a rather good engine and box.

Nice car, but very bad mpg nasty petrol engine, if only you did a diesel version be getting double the MPG. For this reason I'd never choose a petrol engine especially for a SUV.

It’s not a bad engine, just needs to be driven hard, emissions regs have done it no favours here, easy to repair too due to its age, it’s all electric mining forward anyway it appears, thank you Declan

Yes, it’s not the most eco friendly unit, mind you for a 2l Diesel SUV costs 2k ish

@@PlanetautoUK do you find they drive very similar and performance is the same? Petrol prices are crazy expensive ATM what would you recommend this? Or pay $10k AUD more for the ev version?

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

No completely different, the EV is better over time, and relatively cost effective to charge overnight, thank you Michael

The MG runs on money and makes you fat. Bike runs on fat and saves your money.

You’ll find that applies to anything automotive and retrospectively anything exercise based. Do you not own a vehicle?

@@PlanetautoUK I sold my MG and bought a new bike. The saved money is used to pay food and tuition fee for my kids in the pandemic. I had my weight reduced 12 kg within 5 months without using the car.
