    I have yet to see anyone mention the practicality of a 2.0 NA engine. No turbo maintenance and extra costs, fuel economy, and he did mention it but less power means pushing the car harder and that is where the smiles are.

    I must point out that all the sports cars (including sports hatchbacks) sold these days are mainly performance orientated, but I must really give a round of applause for Toyota/Subaru of showing the world that it's not only the speed that makes the sports car. and that they still have passion for a real race car that could be driven on road by anyone. After all, it would have been a gamble for them

  • @FrightfulAccountant
    @FrightfulAccountant 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I don't think the interior is that bad. Yes, it's all plastic -but so is a Ford Focus interior!- but the layout is very good and simple, just what a sportscar needs! The steeringwheel is nice, so is the gearstick and if you add the optional black/red alcantara seats, you really have all a sportscar needs and more!
    But I wouldn't spend that much on the average navigationsystem indeed. Just order it with the standard radio and spend less then half of the money on a nice aftermarket one and a small TomTom Nav. ;)

    Don't what's so special about TT's rather have a A5 and the TT's rear seats are unusable even the gt86 has more space in the back

  • @siowkiat

    Put the fun back into driving.....I missed the good old >5k high revving fun as I am driving a turbo engine car now where peak horsepower and torque comes early at 2-3k rpm range...While Turbo is more powerful and fast, but its the high revs that sends my blood and excitement rushing.

    Historically GT86 which was from AE86 from the 80", was not just fast car. It is driver orientated race car, that gives you fun when you are behind the wheel. If you know what Boxer engine is and you know what the benefits are then you know this is typical sports car. Basically since it is boxer engine, you can place the engine very low down, and this helps the car with the weight management which is must on a race car. This is one of the reason why you can drift it really well.

    It feels like people are hating on this car because of the lack of performance. I look at it like a blank canvas. It's super lightweight, and there's already supercharging kits out there that can bump you near 300hp for about 6 grand, which at this weight class is pretty awesome in my opinion.

    Mat- you never fail to entertain, and get your work done while at it. There is something unique about these reviews that I always look forward to. Great job. Regarding the comparison, they seem too different dynamically to choose by video alone. These cars need to be driven before making a decision.

    Normally i like these carbuyer reviews but Mat completly missed the point of the BRZ. Its not a passenger hauler, its a 2 door rear wheel drive sports car which was built to be fun. As for interior quality it is purposely kept simple because subaru/toyota have noticed that all modern sports car are overloaded with technology which takes away from the driving pleasure. I myself drove and reviewed the GT86 and it is a brilliant sports car.

    Because this is a sports car, the 1 series isn't. This beauty will give you sharp steering and handling comparable to much more expensive cars
    But yeah, a sports-car might not be your thing if you care a lot about practicality. As for performance 200hp/1150kg should be enough for most people, you could always tune it a bit if you want more or wait for a tubro-charged version
    The beauty of the interior is up to the eye of the beholder, at least it isn't as bad as the average plastic American :/

    @fatboy19831 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    And spend money you will about 8 thousand dollars more for the base N/A 240 hp six in the US. The BRZ is more fun and better balanced balls out. If they put the turbo 4 and cut 200 pounds from the 1 it would smoke the BRZ. It would also smoke the 3 and that's a no no. The 1 coupe weighs a whopping 400 pounds more than the BRZ. You feel that mass.

    Btw, Toyota is the number 2 most reliable brand out there, Audi isnt even in the top ten, as are none of the german brands, exept one: Mercedes.

    Just like Mat you are completely overlooking the point of this car. If you knew anything about simple budget sports car's you would not be making that comparisson. The BRZ/GT-86,FRS symbolises relatively inexpensive fun sports car's. Yes it has less than 200 BHP but it doesn't matter because it's a fun car to drive and its all about the sensation of driving a car that is a good laugh and fun to chuck around. And it's not a ricer, as a matter of fact I don't think you even know what a ricer is.

    If you find driver enjoyment in other ways go buy a VW golf Gti/ Vauxhall VXR or something similiar like all sheep do.
