"...my husband has made me this nice chart." The more I learn about Paul Child the more amazed I am at how incredibly supportive he was of his wife's career in a time when men just did not have that attitude.
A very informative episode. Timeless. No need to update or change anything. I've always been intimidated cooking a expensive steak. Julia has given confidence to give it a try.
I remember this episode. My mom (a Hunkie raised among bootleggers whose dining room at noon, was a blind pig for Chrysler white collars) thought Julia was a booze hound. Her comments during this episode were hilarious.
Educational cooking shows, how I miss them. I’m going to sound like an old goat, but todays cooking competitions and and overproduced food porn just don’t do it for me like these old Julia Child episodes. These are classic for a reason.
So many youtube videos are ruined with loud and horrid music. Why are uploaders so obsessed with awful music . What's wrong with a nice quiet video with just the voice of the person. I find so many unwatchable for this reason. thanks Julia!
This is absolutely amazing that Julia has obtained and demonstrated how a beef arm works and which cut is preferred. Straight forward, accessible , and professional. And very entertaining.
It's so easy to see how to satirize her shows, the minute she is done and walks away, the whole set catches fire and they have to hose everything down.
Yes. She brought French food to America . There's a movie about her life somewhat . It's called Julia Julia. Meryl Streep portrayed her. it was Oscar worthy .

"Rampant in the field, racing across the green sward!" LMAO!
It's wonderful how non-commercial these shows are, no brand names, ever.
My favorite is center cut loin and ribeye
I work from home and play these in the background. They are soothing and informative. Made her burgers last night. Yum!
Me, too! So pleasant for the background.

The legend ❤

"Allll the drama!" I loved it!

I agree. there's no love in the food .
There was no one else like Julia Child but I think that Chef John is a unique chef who loves food and people.
I love the fact that it's just her no background no props just her the food and her pans and utensils oh and butter lolol making dinner for friends

I love shoulder steak, such a beefy flavor, much more flavorful than filet mignon.
As the sprinklers in the WGBH studios start spraying... 😂 J/K.
Great episode...
I’ve come to the conclusion she makes up her measurements - like when she dumped salt on the steak and said it was “half a teaspoon”!
The hygiene fanatics will faint dead away from watching Julia work her meat throughout the episode.
And she lived for 92 years!
society is far too anal now---these practices back in the Longago never hurt anyone now everyones sick
Lol ikr I admit I got startled by the fact she was just talking like normal .
Here's where the head was lolol
I lost it when she said this is the hoof
@@BruceAlarie Food was cleaner then. No salmonella outbreaks. We were also far less informed.
T .bone steaks for me 😊
Had the Beef gotten more exercise he might’ve out run the butcher! 😂
this was very informative but I gotta say that's a lotta pepper on those stirloins
I had the weirdest mental image of her showing us how to cut up a Brontosaurus. “Today on the French Chef……..”😊😊😊
First in a long time of firsts😊
You want a cookie or a medal?
@@Nunofurdambiznez harsh---but a nice warm chocolate chip cookie would be nice thank you

From spy to professional chef.
I'm no wine expert at all, but I thought she would use a red not white wine ?

Mmmm, steak....
. . . And every guy named Chuck is getting very uncomfortable. 🤣
My impression or Julia Childs had a ofegant breath
I'd never heard of this lady before, at first I thought someone was having a laugh and put a silly voiceover on. Did she really sound like this?
Yes.
